Toughest monster so far?

Krosis! Jesus......he just wouldnt die! :toughninja:

Krosis was easy, just get on a rock out of reach and fire arrows at him, he just stood there until a third of his hp had gone then started moving from side to side like some demented moving target. He did not even damage me, although cost me a lot of arrows.

I was worried about morokai, having heard the horror stories and he did hurt quite a bit. But the dremora lords (I had to resummon him once) did a pretty good number on him.

Toughest 'normal' fight was probably draugr deathlords on my warrior. 'Normal' fight being defined as one where I didn't use berserk.

Oh, and that guy called the skinner, he was a proper bastid until I discovered wolves could howl and cause fear.

Edit: No, I forgot about the dwarven sphere boss in part of the college arc, he was ridiculous. One shotting me and the antorach left and right. took ages to wear him down, casting from the shows and reloacting every time as he want to look for me. Probably should've been a higher level though, or had a companion, or used pots XoD

Whoever said Chaurus, i agree!

I laughed at their pitiful spit attacks, went in to finish them off...then was torn to pieces by their razor sharp mandibles. Yikes!

I don't have as much trouble with Dragon Priests as other people. Krosis was tough, but I faced him on accident and I was unprepared and low level. The others I've fought (fought 3 more...Morokei, and Vokun, and another I can't remember) were not so hard. I have high Restoration skill and my Greater Ward spell blocks all their magic.

Dragons, fine.
Dragon Priests, fine (except Krosis on my first playthrough but I was a very low level).
Trolls, fine.
Frost Trolls, fine.
Forsworn, fine.
Sabre Cats, fine.
Hagravens, fine.
Draugr, fine.
Centurion, fine.

Cave Bears, NOT FINE. I don't know WHY I struggle with them so much, how can I defeat all these mythical creatures and yet get my ass handed to me by a cave bear?

I just came across a draugr scourge lord or something. (it was last night, long day and can't remember the actual name now) While he wasn't the toughest, he sure gave me a run when he suddenly pulled his bag of tricks out! (Those who have come across it will understand). I was so shocked that he kicked my butt the first round just because I sat there wondering, "Was that what I thought that was, and how did you do that?"

That said, the toughest... not single monster but group. It was the Frost dragon, Blood dragon, two cave bears, a sabre cat, a wolf (or two) and a fox... at one time!! I think there was a bunny somewhere in the mix too. Of course the dragons were going after everything else and not just me. But when they'd fly off to come for another swoop I'd take that chance to heal. But I couldn't because then the rest of them are like, "Oh the dragons are gone, there's a human!"
Needless to say I had to reload a couple times, on the third attempt the blood dragon wasn't there and I just stayed at a distance from all the other beasts.

Giants and Mammoths.

I can handle dragons just fine, and pretty much everything I've found in Blackreach. The first time I faced an ice wraith it handed my bum to me at level 5 or 6, but now they are cake. And I defeated Morokai at about level 25. He never one shotted me but the batle took a while and a couple of health pots to make it through. It was mostly I pain because he kept moving around and the only thing I could hit him with was fireballs. Funny, I didn't even realize he was one of the dragon priests until I came to this thread, but that explains why the fight was longer than usual.

Giants nd Mammoths though. They are BEASTS.

Giants and mammoths at least follow predictable behaviour, get a good vantage point and let the arrows fly.

Ice wraith's are nearly impossible to hit with a bow, and can insta-gib you in master difficulty at close range unless you're quick (or in twinked out gear). Wisp Mother's also have amazing arrow-dodging reflexes, while their own attacks again are quite capable of one-shotting you in master's. Not helped that they can summon shades which can turn deadly if allowed to get into range

The problem is my character is a mage but I have the mindset of a charging into battle guns-a-blazing warrior, and the only way I've been able to reconcile this is playing as a battlemage. I basically go "OH A MAMMOTH let'skillit!" and walk right up to it and remember they hit hard.

I've only faced one wisp mother while doing the staff of magnus quest and managed to kill all the whisps with fireball after fireball. It's pretty much my crutch distruction spell, and it saves me as long as I can keep up the distance between myself and the enemy.

Everyone keeps mentioning summoning dremoras. What skill level of conjuration do you need to be to have those spell tombs become available?

krosis is typically the hardest fight you'll encounter before level 30, though i hear thieves/melee have a far easier time with it.

as a conjure mage, this was by far the hardest fight so far. not being able to use any of my atronachs is tough

I play a theif/rogue type character. I was able to glitch him, I kept him LOS'd as I ran around a pillar, I'd pop out long enough to plug him with an arrow, each time he would back up more and more until he landed himself into some rocks where, you guessed it, he got stuck. Then I was able to do continuous head shots, as his insane fireballs just hit the rocks in front of him. lol The first time I fought him was with a warrior type character, he steamrolled me.

I believe it's a Master level spell [100 skill points].

Anyone got any tips for fighting Falmer in their dungeons? I'm wanting to explore the ruins in Markath(maybe fight a centurian or two), but these guys keep slaughtering me. My main skills are in conjuration, destruction, and one handed. I typically don't carry shields and also have the gift of the wolf blood, bout level 15.

What difficulty do you play on? I'm a pure mage on normal difficulty. Falmer are obnoxious but my trick was to summon a helper, usually an atronach, to take their attention away while firebolting/ice spiking/lightning bolting them. Dual-casted of course. Falmer can be tough around that level. I'd advise to have plenty of potions. And to keep a summoned helper around as often as possible.

It's an Expert level spell. Available at Conjuration skill 70.

Being blind, they're very easy to sneak up on. Also, as corrupted "Snow Elves", they're supposedly weak to Fire. Haven't been able to confirm that though.

Just sneak around, keep your distance, and stun lock with dual cast Fire spells.

Ancient Dragons can die in Oblivion for all I care. If I don't have my horse with me they are hard to kill without wasting 15-20 health potions. If the horse is with me the dragon is distracted long enough for me to kill it with the bow.

Briarhearts are also ridiculous.

I'm playing at the normal difficulty currently. I usually don't carry that many potions besides what I find in dungeons normally. I guess I picked up the habit in Oblivion. I never needed potions in that game.
I think I'll try using werewolf form and see how well that works out. If it doesn't go well, then I'll finish Azura's quest and invest in a little enchanting.

Ancient dragon after the 1.2 patch........... those guys can strip away 400 health in one breath even if you have 80% resist magic on. Speaking of resist magic.... I find the atronach stone plus atronach perk to be a gigantic letdown for enemy mages. I can even tank hagravens throwing fireballs at me until they run out of magicka.

Giant is a easy kill if you have good ranged dmg, or lots of armor to survive its blows, dragons are suposed to be easy, and then scale to elder/ancient wich are much tougher.

I killed my first Giant tonight with my Level 23 Dunmer character. Dual wielding Ice Spikes drains their stamina and slows them way down, making them much easier to deal with.

So far, The Dragonpriest before going into Savengarde. He two-shotted me with the ice spears and as if that wasnt bad enough, his hit would slow me down. Then on top of THAT, he summoned a Draugr AND a Storm Atronach. I needed to do some crazy dekeing and fire shout him before hiding and waiting for a recharge.

It took an hour.

The guy guarding the bridge in sovenguard was an experience too.

Alduin wasn't that bad, I was kind of let down by him. I cant imagine ho easy it would have been if I was higher then level 20.

Not the hardest enemies but early levels I HATE HATE HATE bears and sabercats. Especially sabercats because there are couple of semi scripted areas in the game where you get ambushed by two or three of them.

Amen to that. The dragons I've encountered so far are absolute pushovers compared to him. I'm also a conjurer, and it took me quite a while to finally realize that he was turning all my summons against me. Finally I just had to retreat behind a rock and chip away at his health at range with a bow. Not very heroic, and it took a while. But his mask was a nice reward.
