Dog+follower makes the fights a lot easier. For me it seems like most encounters are safer but takes longer time with a mage. I killed Morokai master difficulty with my level 6 mage, and it wasn't too hard with 2 companions, staggering spells and poor pathfinding. Dwarven spheres can be a bit of a challenge (because of my low level), so I guess the Sphere boss would be even harder, but I haven't met him yet. Trolls are next to impossible for me without using potions or mana regen power, since they regenerate just as fast as I regain mana, but they are trivial with potions.

My first run through on expert with a melee character was quite different. The undead who did their disarm shout was my biggest difficulty until I learned how to dodge/interrupt their shouts. I would imagine other enemies would have been a problem if I didn't use berserk, but with berserk it is hard to realistically measure their difficulty.

I'd have to agree the Wisp Mother was probably the toughest enemy I've faced so far... There are also the Gaulder brothers, especially the one that created illusions of himself. Actually, that was more annoying then anything, took me forever to kill him...

That dog is immortal right? This one for Clausius Vile quest. How can you play like this? No challenge at all, he can tank everything. I gave him away asap because thats not fun at all having him take everything on him. I think companions are op, some of them quest related are just immortal, rest of them is almost immortal since enemies rarely attack them when they are hurt. Thats why i preffer walking alone

I am only playing with a normal hired dogs, and he can die just like normal companions. I think you can get him at the Riften stable (or maybe another one) for 500 gold. But as you mentioned, they are still almost immortal as long as you aim your spells correctly. Playing alone would be more challenging, and I might drop the companions when I get a bit more mana, but at level 6 I only have around 300 mana, and most monsters takes at least 2 mana bars to kill on master difficulty, while the bosses takes countless of mana bars.

when i was only about level 5 or so, a sabre cat absolutely ruined my day. had to stand on an akward rock and shoot arrows, which really didnt work as well as i wanted it to. the damn thing wouldnt stop running back and forth when i was on the rock, so it was nearly impossible to hit, then when i got down it would just two-shot me. i had to constantly step down then back up just to get him into a position where i could actually land an arrow (only one or two at a time), then attempt to get back up on this rock which was actually annoyingly difficult to jump on.

at level 40 on my first character, i decide to make a billion iron daggers and bring my smithing up to 100. level 44 i think i was when i fought my first ancient dragon... WHOA

my legendary dragon armor didn't protect much against his fire. if i took a full blast, it was instant death.

A tip for all you giant fighters out there, if you have the shout 'frost breath' use it liberally. It not only slows and staggers them on impact, but leaves icy spots on the ground along the path of the shout, keep these ahead of you so the giants keep stepping on them. It seems to damage them as well as slowing them considerably.

I was able to defeat 3 giants in one fight using this method on my pure mage. No summons, just my frost breath and dual cast fireball (not the aoe one) took a little bit but was very gratifying, not to mention fun!

Without a doubt, Draugr Death Overlord. Morokei was hard but these guys are unbearably so. Use of shouts, EXTREMELY high damage, Lots of HP/damage reduction. Words of advice - If you haven't faced one of these yet and you aren't at least lvl 30, RUN, run like hell.
really?
I got past him quite quickly(adept lvl 24 flames+sword)

Now at lvl 45...on master, I'd say Draugr Death Overlords, frost mages of every kind and Elder Dragons.

Can't recall the place but it was a draugr that was in a room where you kite him up stairs and around his coffin and back down again. He could kill me in two to 3 hits and I did little to almost no damage to him so played ring a round the rosey kiting him with unrelenting shout and flames the fight took like what seemed for ever lol. Made me think what crack peeps smoking saying this [censored] is easy lol.

Deathlords are the worst.

there is a quest that has you get 3 parts of an amulet. each part had a deathlord as the boss fight.

once you have all three parts you can reforge the amulet. You have to fight all the bosses again one after the other.

Bring fresh armor. LOL

Moroki not only due to him being able to two shot me, but the place itself made for a difficult fight. If it's a fight, the worst so far was inside Azura's Star.

Oddly, I ran into Krosis after I croaked a dragon but he didn't fight. I took a few shots at him but he just slid away.

It does svck reading peeps say this is super easy and they use every cheap tactic and exploit in the game to make it that way. See I can one shot everything and I am unkillable lol good for you so boring lol...

Krosis was one of the toughest fights I had in this game...first try I only saw the dragon, so in the middle of the fight I got near the coffin and....well, I got killed in no time by a dragonbreath+fireball combo lol
Second try, I killed the dragon alone, went for Krosis but he killed me...
Third try, I finally killed me but it was verrry challenging...

dunno. not even dragons can scratch me (and only take 3 or 4 - two if I sneak attack with a bow - hits with an uber blade I made- and it's not even the best). And those that do hit me do nothing with my DR (and what little damage I DO take is regenerated)...

I'm only level 19 so I have yet to meet up with some of the bad guys mentioned in this thread.

So far two problems:
1. Groups, 5 or 6 at a time. Three melee and three ranged is brutal.
2. Magic users mess me up, no magic resistance.

So if it's a large group of magic users, I'm dead.

Level 25 now. Almost got killed by two hagravens. I was having trouble with mouse input, fight was easy after I resolved it. Almost got killed by a Dwarven Centurian while returning the Lexicon. I was only able to defeat him by activating a trap that involved bumpers and spinning blades. About fifteen levels earlier, I found a wispmother, saved, and tried to defeat it. No luck. I might try fighting one again now that I can summon Dremora and Storm Atronachs.
