Annoying, repetitive NPC chit chat

that attitude is just as bad as the one you ridicule, both for the lack of friendliness and for the "gotta hate" standpoint

This isn't a daycare, wherever conflicting opinions are expressed eventually 'friendliness' goes out the window. Also the fact that people get so upset when others critique Beth or TES is silly. Honestly, it's as if those said people created the game themselves, the way the defend it so vigorously is obsurd to the point of disbelief.

Just like in Oblivion, players think that the fact that NPCs speak means they are going to witness a political debate and considered counterpoint when they walk down a village street.

Dialogue in the game that NPCs initiate is supposed to be background pvssyr. Minor ear-candy. Not stirring diatribes by Skyrim's answer to Disraeli

That's a load of crap. I previously expressed myself to you without being confrontational. Just because you can't accomplish it, that doesn't mean it can't be done. You're just choosing not to, and you also chose to put somebody down simply because you disagree with him. As you say, this isn't a daycare, so don't be surprised that I tell you this. If you relaize this isn't a daycare, then I expect you to be able to stand up and take what I'm telling you right now- you can't have it both ways. You are also ignoring what I said to concentrate on rationalizing your own conduct and that's crap too.

I guess you didn't see the Oblivion video that showcased Radiant before Oblivion came out then...

I think somwhere between "political debate and considered counterpoint" and "Folks around here call me captain because I used to be a sailor" the truth lies.

background pvssyr is just that, but players feel it's supposed to be more

Its not the amount of pvssyr its the repetition. rather than talking less ( taverns for example have long moments of silence.) I'd rather see more variety and generic greetings. I'd actually not mind some innane generic conversations between NPCs like in Oblivion compared to silence. That being said , I know tons of people who always talk about the same thing so I out on my roleplaying and ssuspension of disbelief caps and I'm good.
