but the awesome fails in this case. I do like a few of the characters in DA2 but everything else really just fails when compared to DA:O.

You'd have to say it mostly ruined Skyrim for me. I haven't run the game since 1.2 hit, won't even consider trying it until 1.4 hits, and haven't really felt the hunger to play it in that whole span. Given that when I got Oblivion, Fallout 3, or Morrowind (in that order), I played them for months at a time, I find this unusual.

I don't find it surprising at all. I mean how long can you really play a game where nothing matters or makes a difference in-game and you realize that everything is essentially pretty shallow outside of the actual design aesthetics? How many more of the same dungeon with the same enemies and the same puzzles can you really go through? Even if there is more to do I already know the writing is going to be "meh" the questing/combat monotonous and the characters forgettable.

Think its time to finish a couple newer stragglers I've left unfinished and get back to that new Planescape playthrough I started awhile back.

Planescape...I have the game but for some reason I even never finish the first area May be because I've already been dragged far too deeply into Neverwinter Nights (Standalone module, not the OC) and later the SoU+HoTU expansion...

I will try to recover my game cd and install it once again...

- GTA San Andreas : Yep, i left this best PS2 Game alone after i got Skyrim

- Monster Hunter (PSP): Why would you want to kill 1 / 2 / more monster per Quest, if you are free to kill anything / anyone at skyrim


SKyrim ruins another RPG game

Man,Planescape:Torment,what a game that was.

The most awesome story and some fine party banter too.Topped even BG2 for me.

Now,Skyrim,yeah skyrim is a fine game that i am enjoying,i like the graphics,the character looks and armor,the fact that i can become anything(sort of).

But i don't see any real role-playing experience so far.Characters are involved in some quests maybe,but they lack any depth.Also the faction quests/guilds are a step down in quality IMO,i cannot even compare Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood or Thieve's Guild with Skyrim's.

Anyway,i can say that it has not ruined other games for me.In fact,it made me appreciate some other titles,for what they offered and that Skyrim lacks.

I've rented just about anything and everything I can think of from Gamefly--and I just haven't been able to want to play them. I'll sit there and play for about an hour, but then already be bored and popping in Skyrim again lol. F'in SKYRIM FUS RO DAH! D:<

Skyrim has pretty much ruined every other game for me, it's basically the game I've been waiting to play my whole life.

Still play Street Fighter and UMVC3 but that's another story for another community.

I'll likely never play Oblivion again, but that is partially because I played the crap out of that untill It was so boring I couldn't stand top play it. Even before Skyrim came out. Morrowind is a different story, No matter how much I play it I never get sick of it.

The biggest losers in my gaming rotation were WoW and Oblivion. However, I can see myself, at some point, going back to Oblivion and Morrowind, plus a few of my even older games.

I think what Skyrim ruined for me, in terms of WoW -- and thank goodness for that, btw -- is is got me off the mmo-hamster-wheel long enough to see it as the mmo-hamster-wheel it is. No regrets for playing WoW, but I'm glad it's now been months since I played it. That chapter is over and done with. I couldn't make myself go back to that sort of "click an ability when it comes off cool down" system even if you paid me. And don't get me started on the gear-chase. It's just not for me anymore.

Skyrim. I can't even remember when I stopped playing it or what i was doing when I was, but Steam says 12/25. About a month after the CK comes out (the main reason I stop in here) I will look to see if there are any game changing mods out, but mostly I am just disappointed in the game (bugs, limited quest design, really poor console port). I think FO:NV is probably the pinnacle RPG in the group that Elder Scrolls is most closely associated with, so no chance I will stop playing that. Skyrim is only marginally better than Oblivion, both better and worse than Morrowind, and about the same as Fallout 3 within the Bethesda RPG world. If Elder Scrolls 6, assuming there is one, builds on what is bad about Skyrim, I will probably pass until it goes on sale.
