Dragon Attacks are the most annoying and frustrating feature

In the beginning of the game Dragons are essential parts of the game you are guided, almost from the very start, to the fact that you are the Hero and are the only person capable of dealing with the return of the dragons. Through your travels you not only find why they have returned and if no one deals with their return, could spell the end of all things. You learn who the major protagonist is and what has to be done to stop him. In this endeavor you learn that as the Hero you have special powers that only you can use and the way to use these special powers is in the destruction of dragons.

However as you course through the main quest chain and gain more and more experience, and more and more use the abilities gained through that experience. You will eventually reach an end point, because the quest chain will be completed and you will have all the abilities available to you. From that point forward dragons are no longer a necessary component of the game.

There will come a time when you have all the bones and scales you will most likely ever need and have learned all the words to every shout, and are your interests and actions are directed elsewhere and on other things to bring the glory of Skyrim back, dragons will be have become nothing more than a nuisance the joy of battling them will quickly pale and quickly transform to anger, because they are no longer necessary to your character and doing something as simple as having a drink with a friend suddenly turns into a battle for your life.

If this were realistic as has been describe, you would be banned from holds because every time you go somewhere dragons appear and people die. In real life they would chase you from their towns because they would come to the conclusion that the only time dragons attack is when you are there and they would start to believe you were in control of the dragons and telling them to attack and soon the glory of your accomplishments would be forgotten and being the Dragonborn would be considered a curse

There comes a point in the game where you are more interested in doing other things let the dragons fade into time.
