Exactly. Good for those who love vampires but as for the rest? Considering the hero of the game is Dragonborn there would be plenty of situations tied to the current political state of Tamriel in which he would fit. I hoped Bethesda would have capitalized on this.

As for the vampires, I wish they went Oblivion route; I really liked the tragic figure of count Hassildor. Instead we get another villain overlord who want to curse the world.

I hope Betehsda, with the next DLC, will at least listen to those asking to go back to Morrowind and re-introduce spears. At least we'll see some more universally loved themed by the fan base.

Nor was Ulfric Stormcloak's speech about how he fights for the widow, the orphan, the men he dragged from the battlefield that gurgled up the names of their family members with globs of blood before choking on it, yadda, yadda, yadda. Nevermind the fact that just about EVERY video game with a story to tell can be classified as cliche. If cliche makes for a bad game, then the industry would be dead and gone by now.

I've never really liked vampires, zombies, etc. When a movie or video game is released with its focus on the undead, it's a sure bet that I'm never going to give it my custom. However, I'm not going to lie... I'm going to purchase this DLC just because it will add more content to a game that I've been addicted to since Christmas.

Doesn't everyone want more interesting things as DLC?

You never hear people say "I want the DLC to remove this content!" or "This is too interesting! Bland it up for me please."

Vampires are not cliche, especially in TES considering there isn't even a guild/faction/questline dedicated to them in modern TES.

Also consider swords and sorcery are more cliche than vampires in general. You can't knock vampires without knocking medieval/fantasy.

Also how are vampires more cliche than dwemer, which are basically dwarves/elves? They have unique technology but they still have the same invention race cliche that many lores use.

Also consider the Expansion could expand on the TES vampire lore unlike anything before. And maybe even introduce a new kind of vampire with TES lore ties no explored before.

While I disagree with your implied definition of what a cliché is, I think you bring up good points to the table. I'd agree there's a chance Beth mught've taken a fresh approach to the whole theme and come up with an interesting story. For now, I'm not holding my breath, but Beth should be given the benefit of the doubt.

I think that Bethesda adds many things that are indeed known as cliché or generic, but they add their own twists to it.

This is the first time we will get some serious information on the TES vampires. How is this boring? Immortal Blood is currently the only book we know about vampires of Tamriel and it's just a short story(good one though ). It's about time vampires got time in the spotlight and were actually made fun to play.
