Dawnguard Gameinformer details #4

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 1:56 am

I feel pretty confident, unfortunately, that the 1.6 update will come out at the same time as the Dawnguard DLC. Reason is because the Game Informer has a section about "mounted combat" accompanied by a picture. This implies that mounted combat will be part of the Dawnguard DLC. I'd be surprised if the update come out before the DLC.
That means either A] Dawnguard is coming out within a few weeks, or B] The patch is going to be delayed. Because why would us PC users already receive the 1.6 beta if the patch isn't going to be released for a while?

Well, I see your reasoning, but you have to ask the question, why is mounted combat featured in the article? Its not just mentioned in a sentence, there's a section with a picture about it. I hope "A" is the right answer. Maybe, just maybe, this DLC will come out withing a week or two of E3. I figure Bethesda wants an ample amount of time after E3 for the hype machine to do its thing. I'd seriously doubt that Bethesda shows their stuff at E3 and then releases Dawnguard a week later. I could be wrong. I hope I am.

Hircine has dike all to do with Vampires. They're molag bal's bag.

And for the record, hunting beasts is Hircine's bag, too.
Obviously. But when it comes to hunting down mortals, Lycanthropes are made to feed off the flesh of men. It was said in Bloodmoon and gameplay elements back up the fact. While animals are among his prey, Hircine prefers mortal sacrifice. In Bloodmoon, it innocent flesh had to be sacrificed for a cure. Same in Daggerfall, the player had to kill a child to be cured of Lycanthropy. Hircine is also called "The Sacrifice of mortals" and the developers said he is the hunter of men's souls.

Because Sinding was a dike and stole Hircine's Ring. Stealing is not sporting, so obviously Hircine was displeased. And he wasn't cured because it required a proper ritual or the proper techniques.

It's very possible as mods use an unused item slot present in the game to add them as seperate items, no reason why Beth will not do it the same way
I actually know all about that already, since I play on PC. What I am actually wondering is if it will actually be a separate thing to equip from the armor, utilizing one of the many unused equipment slots. If this is the case, then my next question would be if the physics of the capes/cloaks will properly interact with beast race tails, or if the tails will clip through.

It IS rather odd that....
They care enough to remember the book and look up the name of the victim, then include him in Skyrim as a sort of easter egg...
But they don't care enough to realize that his presence in Skyrim makes [censored] all sense in more ways than one.

Like Movarth being able to be any race/either gender and the fact that he/she respawns with the rest of the vampires in the cave?

Movarth can be any race or gender? I thought he WAS supposed to be a male Dunmer. Explains why the name didn't quite match the race. :stare: :bomb_ie:

Surely they'll do a better job with stuff like this in DLC.

UESP says race is Radiant. I guess he is always a male though.

Ah, then it's probably due to Maven Black-Briar's chain smoking habits.
I hate that woman. If I wasn't on console, she'd be dead :/

That still doesn't explain how he could be a Dunmer, yet still have a Breton name, though. For that matter, why does Lucien LaChance have such a Breton sounding name when he is really an Imperial, and Vicente Valtieri have such a Cyrodiilic sounding name if he is a Breton? That is one of the great mysteries of Oblivion right there.

Anyway, I'm certain these threads will probably be exploding with new information about Dawnguard during the next few days. :bomb_ie:

I mean this is conjecture but I'd think theft is the only thing the god of the hunt would stand for. Buying things with gold is weak. Taking things to show your strength isn't.

Hircine is not about "winning at all costs". It's not a hunt if the prey doesn't have a legitimate chance (however small) to win. Stealing undermines that by taking an unfair advantage. The "proper" way would've been for Sinding to face the Ring's previous owner face-to-face, not take it behind his back.

They are gained by using your beast form, like feeding, for example. At least that's what we know right now.

I mean if he's a brutish god you're absolutely right, but I never really took Hircine for that. I mean hunters are well known for baiting and using traps. That, likewise, gives an unfair advantage.

Stealing is different than winning through sheer use of ingenuity. When you steal you don't seek confrontation. I'm sure Hircine would even frown upon backstabbing and stealth killing outside a proper hunt. That's the realm of Boethia.

So a weaker hunter that wins using traps or weapons is fine, resorting to cowardice and/or malice no.
