Myself, it took me maybe ten minutes of playing it on my PC with a mouse and keyboard before I gave in and plugged in my XBox controller (beyond anything else, I prefer to play in third-person, and the movement with a keyboard was just really wonky; but fixed it right up once I started playing with a joystick.)
What I do like about having an anolog stick for movement, though, is the more organic way that I can move through the world. Playing as a thief type, most of my dungeon crawling is spent creeping along the corridors. But I find that even when I'm out in the world exploring, that I'll do a fair amount at a walking pace. Or even just kind of alternating between the two.
It's a very pretty world that Bethesda has created, and it's kind of nice to stroll around and take in the sights, I find. I don't have any really hard and fast rules for when I run or when I walk, but I find I just naturally switch between the two as the mood suits me. Especially when it's a road I haven't been down before, I find I usually end up in a kind of slow jog most of the time.
