Lord Harkon appears to be very "Affably" evil, like how a vampire should be :)
I hope you're right. :)

I actually studied vampirism legends in a class over at my old high school. Although I DO believe Bethesda took this from the mainstream, the Vampire Lord actually does resemble some of the "old world" vampires, in both its powers and appearance. Except for the fact that not only can it cross running water, it can use its power to drag you out into it and drown you! XD

  1. ok, one, i dont see a problem with this. others have said that the designer watched underworld before designing the VL. OK. imatation is the greatest compliment. did it occur to anyone who dislikes this that designing the VL was a "tip of the hat" to the underworld series? now, im NOT saying that is what happened however we cant rule it out either. what wrong with imatating something else which is loved? honestly...the US's marketing system is built around copying a produst and selling for a competitive price.....what did you guys expect?

  2. A vampire IS a vampire. someone said they hated that being said but it is truth. this form of vampire has been the apex form of vampires for a while now. it is logical to assume that is the form beth would use to make an ubervamp. it was also said that this form does not originate from underworld, that underworld itself got it from somewhere.

  3. since we are on the topic of things being copied....

Nord=norse and viking-like people

Elves didnt start is TES so they were copied.

werewolves are copied from other places (see underworld where the name "lycan is also used")

goblins, trolls, dragons(which are really wyvrens).....

And thats just to name a few. BUT SO WHAT. All Beth did was take ideas from other places to tell their own story which we as consumers thought it would be fun to see. after all we DID buy the game. After all we do have SOME interest in these types of games, otherwise why buy it in the first place? While you conside the answer, consider this: Why not simply enjoy the game for what it is? if they copied underworld, who copied who/whatever, SO WHAT. just enjoy the bloodly game or if you dont like it, dont pay!

But Bethesda really couldn't think of a more original Vampire Lord form? It's literally the same thing as Marcus and whatever else it resembles. Maybe it could've been a type of wraith or a more beastial form. Not an ugly grey guy with wings.

There are some differences, (I have the beta) not many, but it's not the same thing, trust me.

I never liked the vamp lord design. Now I know why.

People don't need to be part of the Beta to make a comparison. The VL has been shown in several screenshots and vids, that were officially released, before the Beta began.

There are links to both in the first few posts of this thread. No need to trust,...just click and see.

Out of curiosity is the female vampire "lord" form still a total mystery to everyone not in the beta?
I can't wait to see it.

Well the Vampire Lord form as stated earlier by another poster has become the standard for diabolical Vampire villains in movies. Dracula in Van Hellsing turned into it...the villain from Underworld turns into it... Its more or less the modern day version of Nosferatu. I personally am liking how it looks, gives the Volkihar vampires something special to set them apart from the Cyrodilic Vampires which they were basically clones of in Vanilla skyrim..which broke the known Lore about the Volkihar a lot. Cyrodil's vampires are the only vampires that feed on sleeping people, the Volkihar like other vampires in the TES universe prefer to sink their fangs into a awake enemy/villager which you'll be able to do in Dawnguard in normal form and VL form...also another thing they are changing is.. Feeding makes you stronger rather than starving yourself which made the Cyrodil vampires stronger. You get perks in the Vampire Lord skill tree as you feed and Bethesda supposedly added quite a few feeding animations for normal vampire form and VL form..and supposedly some of the VL perks carry over to your normal form..but can't say for sure. Seems apparent the first perk in the skill tree and Blood healing (feeding in combat fully restores your HP) carry over to your normal form.

I will not make a comment on part of this.

True, but it's always nice to have your own control over what you're looking at. :D
