Could this be the tommy-gun?

Wasn't the most credible part, was it?

I mean, what are the odds of successfully hitting someone's eye on purpose? With most modern weapons, you'd find it hard enough to hit someone's head if you're not trained in the use of them, let alone the eyes.

That's why it was hard to hit people in the Eye but if you did chances are it would do alot of damage (next to other parts of the body) or even kill. That's why it should be back. If it was back the .22 would be a really handy weapon to use in hardcoe mode.

Its not really training that makes you good its pratice. For instance I can use the iron sites on my old military rifle and put a 7.62 round through a hole made by a previous round without the use of a bench rest. Its just pratice, the same as there are guys doing the cowboy action shooting that can shoot a single action 6 shot revolver as if it was full auto speed wise.

Hard to hit people in the eye? You're joking, right?

The real chance of doing that on purpose would be more along the lines of 0.01%, not 95% as it ended up in Fallout 1.

Point is, the chance of doing it is so extremely tiny that it would never ever be a viable strategy to consistently aim for the eyes. You just wouldn't hit them, and if you did it would be an accident.

At what distance?

How fast is the target moving? (Okay, that one is just rhetorical, I'm fairly sure you're shooting at stationary targets)

And how long does it take you to aim?

I'd like to see you do that in a live fire situation, I reckon it's rather different from calmly lining up a shot on a stationary target that isn't trying to kill you.

Real life isn't turn-based, the Fallout 1&2 combat mechanics don't really apply.

Its just pratice, the same as there are guys doing the cowboy action shooting that can shoot a single action 6 shot revolver as if it was full auto speed wise.

Actually, that's not true; revolvers can't fire that quickly, the construction doesn't allow it.

Depends on how good of shot you are. I can shoot quarters at 100 yards with my WW2 Mauser Rifle converted to 7.62 using iron sites. I am a good shot with .22's as well. Take out pennies at 25 yards with .22 cals.

1. targets are stationary but wind plays apart in bullet trajectory when you are doing precise aiming. Bullets can drift if the wind is strong enough so its not just as simple as putting the cross hairs on the same position and range is at 300 meters or 328.10 Yards or 984.3 Feet or 0.18 Miles. We are not talking about shooting at point blank range. Hell if I wanted to you could place a paper target 1.50 miles away with a clean line of shot and with the iron sights I can bet I will atleast hit the paper with the iron sights.

2. I dont take long to aim, I have been shooting long enough that I can shoulder the rifle take aim and squeeze off a shot fairly quickly. I would say between shouldering and squeezing the trigger its probably around 10 seconds or so never timed but its not a long time aiming.

3. Actually they can if you would take note these are single action revolvers they will fire as fast as you can fire them. Dont belive me here are some videos here of some competitions and I have seen in person them shooting way faster than this.

revolver (5 shots) / double barrel shotgun (3 shots) / lever action rifle (8 shots) / revolver (5 shots) = 21 shots in under 44 seconds
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVcOa_qvsIM&playnext=1&videos=x5RWYBEtHIs

lever action rifle (8 shots) / revolver (5 shots) / revolver (5 shots) / double barrel shotgun (2 shots) = 20 shots in 17.70 seconds
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHtnEHPtT6s&playnext=1&videos=BeQPR1N1VAU

revolver (5 shots) / lever action rifle (7 shots) / double barrel shotgun (4 shots) / revolver (5 shots) = 21 shots in 23.85 seconds
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rv3AtvWY5g&playnext=1&videos=OG7I1RmVh9M

This is an ad for a shotgun I am in the process of getting but this guy is one of the good shooters he is shooting with a revolver in each hand and he doesnt miss one target.

and the world record single action speed shooting.

So you cant tell me that you cant shoot a single action revolver fast because the linkage isnt going to slow it down because you are the "linkage" on a single action.

For those that dont know guns single action means you have to pull the hammer back each time before you can pull the trigger. Pulling the trigger will do nothing, a double action means pulling the trigger rotates the cylinder and pulls the hammer back and releases. A double action can be hampered by the internals on speed shooting but not with a single action.

.22 and its Long Rifle brother have their uses but its basically useless against bigger then varmint sized game and are best used for target practice and the especially fun plinking side of shooting.

I'm looking forward to armor actually some true effects in New Vegas, I love that Power Armor will actually be something thats just around and when you have you'll probably be damn near invincible because of its armoring effects. :)

Speaking of plinking, I played the game at QuakeCon and fired this gun, and you had two types of .22 rounds in your inventory. There was standard .22LR and .22 plinking rounds.

Doesn't really matter how good of a shoot you are if you fired automatic weapons/shotguns at their face, odds are you'll hit the eyes at some point. But then, that would be a little unbalanced.

That is strange why would you need .22LR and .22 Plinking rounds? Its the same damn thing if you really think about it.

well apparently you know jack [censored] about guns then because a double action is going to be slowed by how fast the linkages internally work a single action doesnt have the same speed limitation that a double action does, but let me guess you play these FPS games and you are an expert on guns compared to those that actually shoot them? I figured that much considering I could put you in touch with numerous gun smiths I know personally and they will all tell you the same thing a single action revolver with pratice can be fired way faster than a double action ever could because the linkages are what slows it down. You know those pesky springs and rods that have to move back and forth when shooting, it takes time for all that to move back for the next shot and if you shoot too fast its the same as if you over rev an engine the springs tension will become over powered and it wont return till the speed is slowed down.

But here take alook at this video. You think a double action could shoot like this? This is a single action you can see him moving the hammer back with his other hand.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iS9uGktUCrY&feature=related

In the end a double action has alot more [censored] that has to take place than a single. If you knew guns you would know this and you wouldnt argue a point that even gunsmiths will tell you how wrong you are on thinking a double action revolver can shoot faster than a single action. The big question you should ask yourself is IF a double action is so much better and faster why are all the shooters in the competition above using single actions.

Heres another one 5 targets in 0.88 seconds with a single action revolver.

Yep, because I've only been shooting the real thing for about 35 years.

I know a few myself...and a couple will argue, but most will agree with the posted video that a DA will easily attain a higher rate of fire than an SA. Maybe the "that you know personally" angle is signifcant? As in, birds of a biased feather?

I already posted a video of a double action shooting easily that fast. So yes, a DA obviously can shoot that fast. Not to mention emptying itself that fast, then reloading and doing it again in record time.

Not true...look up Ed McGivern and living exhibition shooters who can do things with double-action revolvers you have to see to believe. With that said, these guys were putting over 10,000 rounds downrange per year just practicing.

Oh so you been shooting for 35 years but yet you come on here to argue with others about how much they know about guns? Let me guess you probably agree with those on the previous page that a full auto .22 rifle would chew through body armor even though that round is offically known as a a varmit round.

As far as the video you posted being easily that fast I would say your full of [censored], he got off 12 shots with a reload in the middle is almost 3 seconds (which is fast in its own respect) but the video I posted you watched that guy got off two shots so [censored] quick you didnt hear but one shot and both baloons popped at the same time. You got to be on drugs to think that guy shooting 12 shots is shooting just as fast when you could hear each shoot being shot.

I mean really if you want to belive a double action is faster go ahead but dont dare try to pawn that [censored] off that they are and everyone that thinks a single action can be faster is wrong like you did and then act like its a matter of opinion then. Cause frankly the video I posted of the faster shooter in the world got two shots off so quick that watching the video at normal speed you saw just one shot it took slowing it down to see the two shots.

Oh heres another one 10 shots in 2.6 seconds man these single action revolvers are really slow compared to double actions
