Homosixuality in New Vegas

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:33 pm

I don't mind homosixuality and/or heterosixuality being addressed in my game if it is done in a mature and serious manner. I don't want either addressed in a way as to be demeaning to anyone or there just to be there. If there is some point to be made and driven home, something to make one think about how we treat others who are different than ourselves or a message of tolerance of those we don't understand...then sure, go with it. But that is no different than having racial differences addressed in game. There needs to be a reason for it to come up.

After all, when I go out on a Friday night in real life, such things just don't routinely present themselves. While I may associate with different folks with different likes and dislikes when it comes to six or different races, we just don't have need for it to come up in conversation or to discuss one another's six life. I would hate for it to come up in a forced way as if it was included just to apease folks who want it there "just because". There must be a good reason for it to have come up at all.

I wouldn't have a problem with it being in the game, I just wouldn't use it.

Please no!
It will give the game a wrong image!

I'd like to think the world has moved on from that. Indeed, nobody seems to have particularly minded Mass Effect 1 or 2's full-blown homosixual relationships. (At least, not specifically the homosixual bit)

I may have to agree, people might think of the game negatively.

The game isn't supposed to be for 11 year olds anyway. Good riddance.

I would not care if Homosixuality was in the game. It is a Role Playing Game so why not? It will make the game more real.

This is a good idea especially in a party city like Vegas.

I think players should have some same six options. I'm sure some one in the wastland must be gay or bi, but a new perk shouldn't be needed. This would really come more into play if relationships and/or six was a part of the game. In fallout 3 we didn't have meaningful relationship buliding, and six was just sleeping in the same bed togther w/Nova.

Is that supposed to be a stab on the United States? Because we have the ratings that state you must be 17+, it's the fault of parents that little kids play it.

Alot more crazy stuff!, thow fallout 3 has alot of crazy stuff i think they could have
had more crazy stuff in it, like why wasnt there like a ''super mutant family'' that would
be trying to get in to human settlements

hehe and it'd be cool if the computer could store a video tape
of your last vats combat, and alot of people from diffrent parts
of the world, maby they some how heard from there family and
we can know what happend to other parts

well, I'm not 11 years old and I would, even elderly people like my mother, who is 60 years old are against homosixuality, and they are most likely older than you.

No I live in the United States, I am aware of the ratings it's just we have Freedom of Speech so we can get any game we want no matter the rating. Other countries are strict about it.

We have edited, deleted and babysat this thread until our fingers are sore. I cautioned in the thread about flaming other members or posting flamebait to no avail. Since so many seem unable to discuss this in a mature manner and without flames and flamebait it is closed for discussion at this time. Maybe we can have another thread about this in a couple of days without the thread filling up with such.
