Probably one of the most angering things that happens to me

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 10:52 am

I've been caught out by an enemy kill cam no more than five times in over 300+ hours of gameplay, I enjoy them. It isn't very often the game manages to defeat me and when it does, I think "Oh, well dayum!"

I don't see how it can cause this much butt-hurt?
Exactly, I play on master and have 200 hours clocked for the first time on a character, and i have low health high magicka, and i have had this happen a whole maybe.....5 times, and that was when i was low level. like level 10 and under....

In addition to this issue, it seems to me that finishing moves are stronger than a typical power attack. Sometimes they seem to take off ridiculous amounts of health.

Yes they are. Many times i've had significant amount of health still left when the animation kicks in. Ancient dragons one hit kill me if my health is any less than 100% and i'm in the same province as them. But that's what immortal mode is for ;)

I think it's a perfectly fair thing to have in the game, we can do power attack kill scene things on enemies so they should be able to do them on us.

What I absolutely can't stand is when I'm stuck in a cinematic and I die when I'm still in the damn thing. For example I do a knife throat slit on someone then his mate run up and kills me while I'm unable to move, a million times more annoying than being on the receiving end of a power attack.

Going toe-to-toe with a 2 hand wielding bandit, his health is low, mine is at about half, and since he's got a 2 handed weapon, all of a sudden i'm pulled in for an instant-killcam-slow-mo kill :/

Angers me to no end.
Simple answer to that. Use t he slow down time shout. Always helps

Exactly, its soo easy, i have a master wizard with 900 magicka and 250 health, and i have no perks in any warrior or thief perks, just mage perks, and currently am using HA and shields to level up more, and still i have no problem using any of the already mentoned strats.
Uh, when you are getting a finishing move, no, you can't, you can't do ANYTHING to even attempt to stop it. It takes you out of control and kills you where you otherwise might survive if you're quick or prepared.

they can't do anything when you finish move them, so it's kinda fair

If the game is challenging you too much, go and play Real-Life, it's much less OP but the textures are really [censored]!

Absolutely not. Control is ripped from my handling to decide combat on whether my health bar is high enough or not. Personally, I like playing with less health as it lends itself toward more tactical combat and less grinding duels of attrition. I don't mind being at low health during a fight if I can outmaneuver or dodge my enemy's strikes and counterattack; that's my combat style: weak in health but agile.

So, you fight at lower health on purpose, and then complain because you die easily during a fight.

Got it.

It's not fair that you can do it either, though then again, NPCs don't really have much battle tactics anyway, so it probably wouldn't make much difference.

true, but considering both us and them can do finishing moves, i think it's not much of a problem if sometimes it happens, we players have save games on our side, enemies don't

The way I see it, you're jumping in front of a truck and crying about it when you get hit.

That animation is the truck. You see it coming but you go into the battle with low health anyway. It is almost completely avoidable.

You can't use the "Potions are unrealistic" argument. It's a fantasy game, everything is unrealistic. You could even use a healing spell instead.

I hate it when that happens as well, I have no idea how they can kill me when I have enough health to survive another 2-3 blows

This is exactly what I mean. Like I said in the op, I have plenty of health left, and hell, like people said I could block, heal, strafe, but the game decided I couldn't and planted me in place to allow for a finishing move. I'm not complaining about dying when I have >10% health.

I think enemy kill moves should be triggered after they kill you. So if you have only little health and the attack does way more damage, then instead of instantly dying your control freezes and the enemy makes a second, scenic attack. This way it is always possible to dodge the fatal attack or to drink a potion before the strike hits (whether that makes sense or not).

this post is exactly how i feel and proves i'm no computer guy.

why can't we die as we normally would, but, then add in the kill animation after? not visually after, but, after the kill has already been decided.

is the tech not there for this, to me, simple programming thing? lol. yes, i don't know programming.

edit: is there not some simple math that can do this?

Has it ever occurred to you that whenever you're the one who's dealing the deathblow, you can also do more than triple your regular damage in one hit? Bandits performing finishers on you are essentially just the same.

we're talking mechanics.

not, mind acceptance of a flaw.

What I'm trying to say is that bandits can perform the exact same finishers with the exact same mechanics as the plaamyer can. I can see that this pisses people off, but hey, it's part of the game, and more realistic too.

i might be wrong, but, i don't think i've ever 'finished' anyone with full health. or, from an exaggerated distance away from them.

Then you either didn't execute the Kill-move correctly or you're simply not tough enough...yet.

Never slit someone's throat? I've cleared entire bandit camps by scoring one-hit KO after one-hit KO by sneak finishers. Besides, the only enemies in the game that seem to be able to consequently OHKO when executing finishers are Forsworn Briarhearts when the player reaches level 50 or over, since they have some weird level scaling going on that makes them drastically stronger over level 50.
