Do you honestly think a mahoosive company confronted with two ways of making money would honestly choose the one with the lowest yield?

MS is alienating half of their own customers and PAYING to do it

Microsoft get about $150-$200 dollars for each copy of windows sold so discouraging gamers from using windows is just bad for their wallet

and there is linux which is free and from some reading I have done may be getting more support from valve.

They get more money from selling 360s though.

Think about it. If you buy a PC and games for the PC, you only need that one device.

However, if the PC is a pain to run games on, you'll buy a PC for certain things and a 360 for others.

Then you have to get controllers, which run at 50 bucks a piece.

Add in the price of a Kinect, and they can make a lot more money buy selling you one thing, and then forcing you to buy another device for other things, rather than letting you do it all with one thing.

Been lurking to this forums for about 2 days now. As per the tweet that was posted with regards to an update for PS3 coming out in several weeks, that clearly tells me that the DLC is definitely coming out for the PS3 later on. It wasn't the best news (as I was really hoping for it to be available after July 26) but that will work for now.

Moving forward, I will have more time for other things in my life. I am 47 years old and I can wait. I suggest you folks do the same.

Half of their own customers? Dont make me laugh; PC gamers dont even come close to making up half of their windows customer base.

The fact that xbox has gotten downloads first, and sometimes more, than the ps3 is a source of constant anger for me. i personaly hate xbox. made the choice to get a Ps3.... and now get to wait twice as long? and sometimes never even see the content? I'm calling B.S.

they have to buy the hardware to make each xbox they sell.. now windows is software and all they have to buy is a disc and case for windows and they sell that.

This is just capitalism at it's worst: people with money and power using that power to try and make the people dance however they like, all in the name of even more profit. A company is, legally, a person, and for several different reasons. Perhaps one is that, based on the structure of how companies are run, you'll never see a company say "Ok we've earned enough money now. Now we're gonna cut people some sweet deals and be nice." No, companies ALWAYS try to improve and get more money. That's just how they work. If it weren't Microsoft doing this, another company would.

It's just a sad reality of the society we all live in.

But again, gamers make up a MINISCULE percentage of their windows business. How many non-gaming homes are they in, how many businesses run their PCs on windows? Hell, there are national supermarkets whose TILLS are run on windows systems! Even if all gamers switched their OS it would barely register for MS.

It's a very bad move in my opinion for Hines and Bethesda to be completely silent on their plans for DLC on the PS3 and PC. They could at least confirm that the DLC will come to the PS3 at some point in the future, but for some reason they refuse to even do that much.

how many home users update windows on a regular basis (not including the hardcoe games) not very many as i have fixed pcs for a number of people any usually see XP sometimes 98 and the occasional *gags* windows ME fact is with the windows market great many people do not get the newest windows most businesses do not run windows 7.. or even vista.

Tell you what, if you guys aren't supportive of this system....don't buy Dawnguard.
That easy. If Microsoft sees a failure for Xbox sales to rise while Dawnguard sales for PC and PS3 drop, then the deal stops being beneficial for both.

It's a seemingly mediocre overpriced DLC with mediocre reviews, several bugs and a tendency to kill off entire towns for a good portion of the population. I fail to see what the fuss is all about.
But all this talking and complaining isn't gonna mean jack if you all run out and buy Dawnguard on day one....

Anyway people shouldn't blame BETHESDA GAME STUDIOS they should blame BETHESDA SOFTWORKS / ZENIMAX MEDIA. They're the one who are responsible for communication and marketing.

But almost every computer ever sold comes bundled with... you guessed it! WINDOWS. Computers get sold on quite a regular basis too; people move into a new home, computers break, branches of a business open up... Still plenty of scope for shifting units.

I wish PC and PS3 players would stop buying Bethesda's DLC altogether until they stop with the timed exclusive nonsense. Personally, I'm done giving them money. But my wallet alone isn't gonna change anything.

Its faulty logic to make the DLC a time exclusive to sway PC players to play on the Xbox. Not saying thats not what they are trying to do, just that it is typical silly marketing. If you play TES games on the PC its likely for the mods and and so forth. I wouldn't WANT to play Dawnguard on the 360 even though own one. Its an aging platform. It wouldn't look half as good as I can make it and there is no console to get around bugs. Nah, my 360 is for watching DVDs these days. Haven't played a game on it in over a year, even though I have some still wrapped. I don't actually even own Skyrim for the 360, but I got the CE for the PC.

I suppose they are relying on some being too impatient to wait. Thats certainly not me. Watched a 'Let's Play' on youtube to see whether it would eventually be worht buying, and now its just a matter of time. I do think Bethesda is taking too long however, as they could have at least given us word. It took long enough for us to get the CS.

On a tangent, I heard Apple were thinking about entering the gaming market with a console. Now *THAT* would be interesting, MS V Apple, round 2! Sincerely hope this happens :D
