The Hackers are equally to blame if not more.

dont blame the hackers. sony was gonna sue them for modding ps3's and posting videos on how to do so, once you buy a ps3 its YOURS not sony's and your free to do whatever youd like with it. The hackers told them this and sony refused to listen... they got what they deserved

Ok stop there. Sony actually has better server security than Microsoft. Nothing was even hacked. A bunch of smart idiots figured out a way to access an exploit used by devs for testing.

smart idiots? way to be redundant. and idiot is nowhere near close of a word to describe the group of people. i know a bunch of hackers and moders not a one is an idiot.

Sony is denying the deadline link here http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/109866-Sony-Denies-May-31-Deadline-For-PSN-Return not that it means it won't take that long because theres been no update but hopefully it means the store will be up sooner than the 31.

Sony retains the right to modify the console as they see fit this includes adding or disabling features on the system its in the EULA that you agree to when you purchase the console, but your probably one of those corporations are evil people so I doubt you'll listen to a rational argument, and I'll second the hackers weren't that bright the charges they face when caught will amount to at least several hundred million in damages and probably several life sentences based soley upon the munber of counts they'll face all that just because a feature which Sony had ever right to remove was hell the ps3 has been cracked you can very easily download a custom update that adds the other OS feature back in the hackers not only hurt sony and its customers they also hurt any company that put stuff on psn how can you actually support these people their not freedom fighters there damn criminals.

Well its to be expected. Good thing is that we ll have better security, and It will still be free.

When stuff is free its easier to let things go IMO.

Now when xbox live crashed like 3 Christmases ago for over 2 weeks I was pissed. With ps3 I m not really angry as long as thdy continue to keep us posted.

I hope the part about on line play coming back sooner is true. SOCOM 4 and Brink will keep me occupied until the 31st.

I also hope the 31st is just a "safe" date, and we can really get HH sooner.

Honest Hearts will be released on 360 and PC on 5/17. PS3 will have to wait until PSN comes back.

It's a lousy situation, and there's nothing anyone can do about it. Except Sony of course, but they're obviously in just as big a rush to get it live as we are.

Well if the release dates are supposed to be the same, looks like the 360 and PC users are going to get the DLC delayed. However, if the DLC comes out for the other systems before, they get to find all the unique weapons and armor along with testing any potential glitches like what happened with the Pitt.

No Xbox users and PC users are getting the DLC a week from today

No they dont, Not gunna start a console war, but Microsoft is known for their security measures while Sony doesnt even work in the Security buisness. Not to say Sony's security is bad, but it's not that of Microsoft.

Xbox Live was hacked in 2008. Went down. A lot of personal information was stolen.

Everybody's security has vulnerabilities. Everybody.

Why even start a discussion about a clear thing.....
EVERYTHING can be hacked or manipulated.
Xbox Live, Psn Network, CIA....

I recommend all PS 3 Users to see the happy side :celebration:

YOU are about to almost have a DLC BUNDLE.
By the Time PSN will be up again Old world Blues is on the Marketplace!

Not to mention the 360 and PC users get to test and find any game breaking glitches like Invincible Reavers or corrupted data :flamethrower:

Good news for PS3 users, blog/twitter updates, are saying that the PSN is now up in limited functionality. The gaming side of the network is now up with the new software update, that requires a mandatory password change. This is just one step to restoring full functionality of the PSN. You can get online and match make on the online games!

If we're lucky, we may have the store up before Honest Hearts releases. Although I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. The May 31st date for PSN's return has been neither confirmed nor denied by Sony. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Well this is good news, and bad. Mandatory password change? Depending on how it works, I might just be screwed. Hope they don't ask for a birth date, I gave a random one  Woops

You change your password on the system your account was activated on, or through email verification. Shouldn't be a complicated process. I doubt your random birthday will affect your ability to change your password.

God I hope this means the store will be up by Honest Hearts. Even though I'm not in a rush to play it, I at least want to know that I have immediate access to it.

Apparently the attack was ver sophisticated as it defeated an up to date security system and they got everything but credit card info the rumor is they hacked in using a ps3 with custom firmware that turned it into a dev kit console which gave the hackers acess to certain portions of psn unavailable to the public and they hacked in from there getting things like names, adresses, and phone numbers, along with account passwords but apparently credit card info was on a separate encrypted sever that they didn't gain acess to. Since psn is back hopefully that means the store will be up in a few days maybe in time for HH but thats pretty iffy.
