Put your hands up for the beta testers who are actually bug

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 1:11 am

If I'm accepted I'm going into it thinking that there is going to be more than a couple of bugs and I think most people applying would assume this also.

I've been a member of these forums for quite a while now I just never really posted, just read through discussions on things that interest me me.
I've applied for the beta, I'm not going to go crazy searching for bugs but I plan to play through and do as much as I can on both sides of story and I will always have my laptop just to my left ready to report any bugs I find big or small.
I think that is the attitude most people who applied have and frankly anyone who's applied that won't bother to point out any bugs doesn't really deserve access IMO.

I've never beta tested anything before, so that's why I signed up for the beta. If I do get picked then I will try my hardest to find the bugs and glitches. But I can't promise I will find them all. All I can do is try my best and hope that is good enough.
Basically play it how you would do with your own playstyle. Beth will most likely have tested ways to break quests and now want to see the effects of different playstyles.

The devs don't need professional beta testers. It's normal, average consumers whose bug reports are needed now. And consumers are motivated by the value of the product. Chances are they're using the question form to select a group of beta testers that's as varied as possible...
I know that's what I've been saying. I wonder how exactly they will pick them. The different combinations in the answers to the questions are endless. I just think it shows people up when they are svcking up thinking they will more likely be picked.

I doubt they'd hand pick them. it would take far too long.

Perhaps some kind of computer will sort them into groups and they'll pick from there. Who knows. Can't wait for this week to end. THen we can find out who's in and see everything at E3.

Presumably everybody who has applied to the beta test has done so because they intend to test.

I don't see the purpose of this thread and I think anyone who posted a comment saying they were just after the free DLC would be somewhat less than the sharpest taack in the box.

i just want to play it and its free so hey. beside i don't really have any money any ways. and also i really don't care about bug they have never ruined a game for me ever. i love when there a re bugs that are just Hilarius. the only bugs in skyrim that i even noticed were the ones were the mask never shows up when your wearing the DB armor and one i got that made only me go in slow motion when i duel wielded.

If I'm lucky enough to be given the honor of getting in the beta, you can bet I'll be searching for bugs.

I'll test sure. But there's no reason to make a big deal about it.

well for me i don't even notice bugs unless there funny. like a mammoth falling out of the sky right in front of me. well thats more of a wtf moment. but any ways every time a new patch comes out i read what it is there fixing and probably about idk like 90% of what they say there fixing i've never even noticed or even cared that it happened.

so like a i said in my last post bugs don't bother me in the least never have. unless its some thing that wont let me continue a quest which is some thing that only ever happened in fallout nv.

Exactly. Everyone has been svcking up and has been saying how great they would be at testing. In reality it is obvious that all these laymen entered to try and get the dlc early. Why else would they do it? They don't really want to test the game.

I know I love to get it early but I also do want to test personally. I don't know about most people but even in finished games I am always trying to find bugs and try to do things i am not suppose to.

You should be searching for bugs if you're accepted for the beta. You shouldn't really decide if you're going to search or not. It's a beta. The sole purpose of playing it is to look for bugs.

A little off topic but I was wondering: How does one even find bugs to report? I know some are pretty obvious (like if your vampire lord guy starts doing a break-dance for no reason or something), but what about something like a chest not respawning properly? Or if a minor questline gets broken and won't initiate the next quest? Or if an NPC's scheduled to go to bed at a certain time, but doesn't? If you don't know the chest was supposed to respawn or that there was supposed another quest after the one you finished, or that the NPC was supposed to sleep, how would you know it's bugged?

Just curious.

This is true, but have you seen the storm of laymen posters we've had since the blog posted the beta?
There must be hundreds of people that have signed up already. It only takes one enthusiast to post on facebook and then all their friends with a slight interest in the game also sign up,...

I actually bought a notepad in which I intend to log every single bloody frame drop, glitch, dodgy AI, pathing issue, flying horse, whatever happens, the time it happened, and what I was doing before it happened. If I could cap-card it I would.

I just want it to play through it early, I'm not going to lie. That's what Bethesda want's anyways. They have professional devs to bug test; a larger public beta like this will just help them find anything that might become a problem in the final release. They want people to play through it and see if they hit any bugs.

Nonetheless, I will report a bug in the forums if I see one.

BTW, does anyone know when they will start rolling out beta codes?

When i saw the beta notice i was psyched for it.
It was only after i realized id get the actual EXP pack for free!

post if you will do proper bug-squashing or commend those who do!

I signed up for the Bug Testing/Glitch Finding that being in a BETA is supposed to be for.

Yes, I also get the DLC early, but that's just a bonus. I really do want to help make this Elder Scrolls series better and better in every way that I can. I'm only a Gamer, but I've bought every Elder Scrolls object as soon as it's released, and so far, that's the only way I could support Bethesda for this series that I love so much.

If I can help them more by being apart of this BETA, and making any bugs/glitches that I found known to the devs, then I absolutely want to help out as much as I can.

This is why I jumped at the chance to be a part of this BETA. I really want to help make the Elder Scrolls the best series that it can possibly be, and this is my small part (if I get chosen...) towards that goal.

Love you Bethesda! Love your games, and I'm so freaking psyched about Dawnguard!!!!!

I just wish we had more of a writing section for it. So they can get backstory on us instead of yes/no questions. I've been a vampire since oblivion and love vampiric culture yet I just answered "Are you a vampire" "yes". I dont know how they are going to base their picks then but either way I am extremely excited for the DLC.
