Put your hands up for the beta testers who are actually bug

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 11:53 am

When i saw the beta notice i was psyched for it.
It was only after i realized id get the actual EXP pack for free!

post if you will do proper bug-squashing or commend those who do!

I applaud those that are doing it, and I hope they squash out all of the bugs if not the game breaking ones such as the respawn bug that effects enemies and plant life just thinking of that bug makes me shudder.

I did some testing, then decided to roll back to 1.5 last night.

It broke skyrim. I have to wipe and reinstall this morning. Just an FYI for anyone else.

Presumably everybody who has applied to the beta test has done so because they intend to test.

I don't see the purpose of this thread and I think anyone who posted a comment saying they were just after the free DLC would be somewhat less than the sharpest taack in the box.

Exactly. Everyone has been svcking up and has been saying how great they would be at testing. In reality it is obvious that all these laymen entered to try and get the dlc early. Why else would they do it? They don't really want to test the game.

Which is sad to considering what a Beta actually is its a way to make the game a bug free experience for everyone and that they should remember that especially considering how buggy Skyrim is.

I wish I signed up to the forums sooner lol :stare:
Anywho, I hope I get the beta test and inform everyone on the forums how it is, what bugs I can point out, etc.
I have a character with 80 unused perks ( took forever lol XD )
If there are new perks, I could test them  right when I download.

I'll be sure to test everything! :drag:
But, since I just signed up for the forums . . . I doubt I'll get it lol :bonk:

I'd actually quite like to test the game, and have no problem paying for the DLC.
I'd happily buy it anyway, and this way it allows players to sort out the bugs without constantly complaining about them. Saying that, i won't be surprised when the beta comes out if a load of players start moaning anyway...

They will want to get the bugs fixed, though. When they're playing as the Dawnguard and they find that Archmaster Von Borislav's dialogue line is bugged out and locks them out of the next quest, the beta forum is going to be full of complaints.

And of course playing the DLC early is a valid motivation. Bethesda couldn't get enough beta testers together if the only motivation was an inexplicable urge to do a professional company's Q&A team's job for them.

You may be right.

I applied because the beta testing itself sounded like it might be fun, for me at least.

Only because I've done similar stuff before and enjoyed it.

I didn't even notice the "won't have to purchase the content thing". Just now went back to GStaffs original post and saw it.

Hmm, being a fellow layman XD,
The beta actually got me to sign up.
Never really pvssyd a whole lot about skyrim to the online world, just friends.
If I get the beta, you'll be damn sure I'll post anything/everything I find, making sure of course, not to give spoilers.
And even if I don't get it, I'll still post because . . . I just love skyrim!

I wouldn't say everyone that joined through the beta application is doing it for free DLC. I for one didn't even know this forum existed until I found the beta application. I am actually hoping to do some testing, it is possible some people might be doing it for free dlc, but I don't see the point in doing that. If the testers don't actually test your only shooting yourself in the foot, the more people that don't test, the more bugs get missed, which is beneficial to no one.

Besides the dlc's only £10 or something, it's hardly the saving of the century.

Well ya of course I will *silly question* if I get to be a beta tester ya, doesn't mean I won't have fun doing it, maken sure I will have either a piece or paper and pen next to me or my laptop to quickly write down in word what goes wrong.....sadly for me I have a eye for detail....which I guess is great for doing this type of testing lol

EDIT: Wow lol n of course the free DLC will be great to get :) But really I want this opportunity to help out in some small way by being a Beta Tester :)

I know. I quite liked how Battlefield does it's betas. People who bought previous games get to play it and it means people are more loyal. Wouldn't work with the ES as the games take so long to come out. But yeah I hope the Beta is worth doing and things actually get fixed.

You'd post in a closed beta forum so there wouldn't be spoilers. I actually wonder whether the beta was actually partly an attempt to increase the amount of people active on the forums.

I signed up however I don't expect to be picked.

I think it would be cool to help out and I didn't even know at the time it would be free to those who did the testing [not that the DLC is much anyways].

Or guys.. some people genuinely like helping out the community and others (No way right? It blew my mind too).

If I end up getting one I think the most important thing to ask is how I'm going to be submiting bugs as I wouldn't really want to do that on a public form.

A lot of people will be doing it just to get it early and for free. About the bugs that is debatable. They will probably show up any major ones but smaller things they will most likely not mention. I just find it a little stupid how everyone has suddenly become a professional game tester now the Beta has been announced.

It'd be the same if there was a contest for the most kind person.. It'd be the same if patch betas only picked 100 people too. You shouldn't be surprised.

I've never beta tested anything before, so that's why I signed up for the beta. If I do get picked then I will try my hardest to find the bugs and glitches. But I can't promise I will find them all. All I can do is try my best and hope that is good enough.

If Im chosen as a beta tester Im going to beta test.
That I get the content for free is a nice bonus, but that can be enjoyed after the testing stage.
I would think it unfair to do anything else.

The devs don't need professional beta testers. It's normal, average consumers whose bug reports are needed now. And consumers are motivated by the value of the product. Chances are they're using the question form to select a group of beta testers that's as varied as possible...

Seeing as until recently I was playing skyrim on PS3 I've done 6 months of playtesting. However I paid $60 for the "privliage," I'm not perticulary interested in testing anything else for them.

If you're going to be in a beta you better actually look for bugs not a free ride for DLC, kind of defeats the purpose of having a beta tester if you don't report anything.
