Question for the haters

You were just using the number of fans as an example of how good the game is.

nope, maybe in your fantasy world...

TES could have been flawless. And there would still be complaints about story lines, game not hard enough, the colors are off, textures arn't right, this is nerfed, that is nerfed. Many complaints were legit, but the facts are, there are those who will never be satisfied unless they are snivelin.

Yeah, this is true. I will say though that I like most games. For some reason though, Skyrim just felt like the biggest let down ever when it comes to games.

This was reply to OP, I just hate it when people say criticism is wrong, thus the sarcasm, was wanting to add more but closed the tab accidently, I'll elaborate my opinion. Developer love criticism or should, lets look at what happened when they got actual advice and what to improve, Two World 2, whereas the original considered one of the worse games ever, they improved the sequel substantially.

Now, consider if criticism had been forbidden, they would have only had bias website reviews like IGN.

Game company should beg for constructive criticism, the fallacy of them closing because of such is laughable, what is more realistic is they close down because they don't listen.

I hope that makes my opinion little more clear.

Yes, you did. ^

how that means that the majority opinion means right opinion?
I only said that it got a lot of GOTY awards from various websites and magazines, not that they were right or wrong.
read and comprehension dude, read and comprehension.

Then what is the point of that?

the point is that you said that only spike.tv gave it GOTY while most sites and mags not.
I was trying to let you notice that actually most websites and mags gave it GOTY and only some didn't.
that doesn't mean they are 100% right, but it still means a lot.

Actually, what I said was that the Spike VGAs were the awards that most people consider THE Awards and I acknowledged that there were other awards. You must have read it wrong.

If I'm creating a film and I'm looking for intelligent, well-written critiques, should I go to a forum, or should I read Roger Ebert's column?

You'd go to a forum because there's a vast amount of people who are using your product, so you can accurately judge what is wrong with it. If 1,000 people say something is wrong, chances are it is.

Reviews are one person's opinion.

Exactly, if you want high and mighty opinions and less of the plebs sure, but note where most your money comes from, the plebs!

Also Roger Ebert isn't flawless and has been wrong about films quite often.

I hereby call out to mods to propose that a thread titled "The Flame Thread" be made and all hate threads get moved to this one epic thread. In this thread you are allowed to absolutely tear Skyrim a new one with bile, spit and venom or whatever your choice.

It's the perfect way for keeping the forum is nice place.

Other side of the coin, Reviewers have some more expertise when it comes down to it and usually have a better QA when it comes down to what they publish, unlike forums where everyone can claim to be an expert and 90% of everything is crud.

Ofcourse, Reviewers can be just as biased as any other person or can be forced into giving higher/lower scores because of their magazines sponsors.

That is actually not a bad idea, one thing they would need to keep eye on people attacking one another or elitist attitude.

What would you do if all your hate and negavity caused bethesda to stop making TES and focus on other projects?
I know the game has many frustrating faults that need to be addressed but the positives need to be praised equally if you want to encourage growth
If I was hater, which I am not, I would focus my hate on those other projects.

This thread is :bonk:

How do reviewers have more expertise? Do they play more games? I think a fan with half a brain cell can do as well as the majority of so called reviewers out there. I agree that a lot of people here speak nonsense, but that is on both sides. I cannot stand people that mindlessly except everything Bethesda puts out and thinks it's brilliant. I honestly don't believe anyone that says they think the game's writing is good...That is not an opinion, that's just being a moron.

Would be a fun idea, tough I question how practical is would be.

Ah well, it would be fun to see who would be the person with most posts moved to said topic.

Ranting is fine, I do it all the time.

With expertise, I mostly mean in expressing their opinion, writing it down etc.
They have much more experience with playing games for the sake of writing how they feel about it.

I'm not saying that this makes their reviews suddenly worth more then everyone else their opinions.
But I think we can all agree that we'd much rather read a review magazine for someone opinion on a game then those on forums.

That said, it fits in this case.

Every time any game makes adequate changes to improve its core mechanics, die-hard conservationist fans who'd have rathered just seen 5 new rehashes of Daggerfall go all "Herp Derp. It's not Daggerfall so it svcks. Derp."

Games change. Go cry in a corner about it. We'll be playing the damn game. I'm not looking for Daggerfall 5. I'm not looking for the same God damned mechanics, and the same God-damned definitions of "depth". The TES devs aren't getting worse at making their games, they're getting better. Certain people will never take off the nostalgia goggles and see that.

That amuses me.
