[WIPZ] Radiance: A Simple Immersion Booster

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 6:38 pm

Well, that's not good. Did you delete Radiance.bsa? Were you able to determine what triggered the corruption (change of cell, encountered one of my world interactions, etc.)? Are you sure you extracted all of the scripts?

Delete the what ? Extracted all the scripts ?
Okay okay, looks like I overlooked the install process, just forget about what I had said then. I just subscribed on the workshop and activated.

Ah, were you using the Workshop version before? I just uploaded a corruption-free version to Workshop last night. :) Let me know how it goes.

I should have an update tonight that should fix any conflict this mod might have had with Occupy Skyrim. It also adds a few new world events that trigger on various side quests.

I did some testing, héhé, with justice playing in the background, funny. I even saw two of your new events.
Okay, anyway, gone are the corrupt saves but my game did crash after about 15 - 20 minutes of fooling around.

Now, I'd like you to keep in mind that I've got quite the list of mods running here so it's probably just a conflict with another.

If you'd like to know the mods I'm running my game with if it can help, just ask ! ;)

With that said I'd like to congratulate you, great work my man ! ;)

Thank you,

I'm glad you're satisfied! I wouldn't mind a look at your load order, just to see if there's any obvious conflicts that I can fix. :)

I like this idea. Not sure how to implement it, but I like it.

The biggest problem would be finding an appropriate spot for execution. Off the top of my head, only Solitude is set up with a chopping block. Anyway...

UPDATE ALERT!

I've uploaded version a006 (yes, I'm finally numbering my versions. Slowly inching towards legitimacy here.) to both Nexus and Workshop. Starting with a006, all uploads will be packaged as .bsa files, so if you're using the Nexus version, be sure to completely uninstall a005 before you install a006, or you may get funky results. Actually, you won't now, but someday in the future you might.

The biggest change to the new build is that I've fixed some compatibility issues with Occupy Skyrim (and make Radiance more compatible in general). I've also added 2 new events since the last release:
  • If you help Amren out, you might find him and his mercenary buddies patrolling the roads of Whiterun Hold.
  • If you help Mjoll the Lioness, you might find her roughing up some dirty thieves in the Rift.

First I want to say that this is an awesome mod. Any mod that make the world a bit more alive is a welcome addition.

I downloaded the A006 version and found Amren at the outskirts of Whiterun helping me fight a Dragon :)

On the negative side, I have been suffering a similar problem as triangles mention. Maybe is not related to your mod at all, but I have been having image freeze (sound is still working on the background) for about the same time I have this mod installed.

Hmm. I'll do some testing tonight to see if I can duplicate this. In the meantime, would you mind posting your load order?

Thank you for the report! :)

I have been playing for awhile without the radiance mod loaded and it happened again. I'm almost sure that the one causing the freezes is warzones mod. Sorry for the misreport.

Thanks! As an experiment, could you try running Radiance with Sounds of Skyrim disabled? Somebody else mentioned that they were getting CTDs with those two installed, so I wonder if Radiance might (somehow, someway) be conflicting with those mods. If disabling Sounds of Skyrim fixes the problem, I'll take a look and see if I can't make Radiance more compatible.

Also, is Killmove + working with the 1.5 patch now? I thought it was never updated. (This shouldn't cause any CTD/freezes, just curious.)

All right. Let me know if you encounter any more freezes with Radiance.

I've played almost eight hours with Radiance installed and haven't seen any problems at all. Thanks!

EDIT: After several days and quite a few hours, I'm still not seeing any problems. it looks like you've solved whatever the problem was.

Hi all!

A few updates. First, I am still alive. I haven't had time to add any new world encounters, but I've made some minor tweaks and fixed a small bug. The update (a007) is available on both Workshop and Nexus.

Since all of the major issues seem to be cleared up, the next time I do a major update, I'm going to declare alpha officially over. Thank you to everyone who helped me troubleshoot and figure out what was going wrong. :)

It doesn't necessarily have to be too intricate. You could just have a generic npc named 'traitor' or 'outlaw' or something to that effect executed as you enter the city, or alternatively, you see the person being accompanied by guards or soldiers from the direction of dungeons or from outside the city, and then executed - so that it seems more dynamic. Obviously having npcs talk about it would be impractical. You could set up the other cities with chopping blocks, but of course that's your call as to whether that fits within the mod's scope. Anyway, just my thoughts on it.

Couldn't wait for the Beta anymore, so downloaded and installed.
Very subtle and enriching.
One thing t?ill now........

Spoiler
My character is not, nor ever was a werewolf.
Still the Silverhand attacks on sight, and not only me.
Last time I saw them they attacked Riften guards.

Hi,

this is what Skyrim needs sorely. Most appreciated effort. BUT, is it compatible with the "You`re not the Dragonborn" mod or other mods disabling MQ? And "no killmoves" mods?

BTW, if there is a conflict between voicing(as dev workload) and content, I`ll go for content all the way. No need to please illiterates. They should concentrate on grammar anyway, not video games.

I probably won't add more chopping blocks, but I'll think about this.

That is vanilla Silver Hand behavior. I try to use vanilla NPCs (or NPC templates) whenever possible so that if anyone changes them with another mod, the behavior will carry over to this mod. (For instance, when the Join the Silver Hand mod comes out, I foresee that the Silver Hands in my mod will become friendly.)

Shouldn't be. There are some events that won't trigger if you use this mod, but that's all.

Any conflict between VO and content is due to my desire for consistency with the rest of the game world. Illiteracy is hardly the only reason one would prefer voice acting in one's mod.

I think I should make one thing clear: I'm making this mod because it's something I want to see in my game. I'm asking for ideas because, well, the more ideas the better. However, I'm not catering to anyone, illiterate or otherwise. And my personal preference is to have voice acting. That said, I'll release unvoiced content while I'm still looking for voice actors--but for now, I'm doing all the content that doesn't require voice acting first.

I have downloaded the 007 alpha from Nexus. Not sure whether I will manage to get this tested today or tomorrow.
Thank you! Let me know what you think. :)

I've been playing with this mod for about four days now without any problems at all, as far as I can tell at least.
Ran into approximately ten stormcloak soldiers whom had managed to slay the same amount of imperial soldiers, I almost felt a shiver running through my hands as they charged towards me. The dragon fanatics where a fun idea too. If any problems occur I'll be sure to mention them here, keep up the great work!
And Thank you so much for this great mod!

addegs: I'm glad you're having a good time! I've never come across the big battles after they were over. It must've been something, coming upon that scene.

Ysne: Let me know if you encounter anything. :)

Sorry updates have been sparse the last few weeks. Real life obligations and all that. I still plan to push this out of alpha this weekend, though, and add some more custom events that trigger off of various sidequests. Also thought I'd share a little experience I had this evening that reminded me why I'm working on this mod.

I'm on the road to Riften when I bump into Mjoll the Lioness, busy beating down a couple of Thieves Guild goons. After she smashes in the head of the last of them, I tell her I'm on my way into town and invite her to walk with me. She happily accepts, and tells me stories of her adventures as we go along. We don't get far before three more figures appear on the horizon, and I recognize them immediately: Thalmor. I rush ahead while she pulls out her bow, dispatching the two footsoldiers easily. The lead justicar, however, has taken the high ground and is raining lighting and thunder down on our position. I run up the hill for him, shield raised, but I'm not his target, and behind me I hear Mjoll cry out in pain: "Gods, no!"

At that moment, a wolf familiar tackles the justicar from the side, drawing his attention and presumably saving Mjoll's life. I close distance and shut him down with a handy shield bash as Marcurio, an old friend of mine who joined the Blades, fires a few lightning bolts of his own. Several more Blades are right behind him, coming to our aid and putting an end to the Thalmor's little hit squad.

After that experience, you guys can bet I'm looking forward to adding more events. :)

Well, you'd be angry too if that happened to you, wouldn't you?

I'll take a look at them real quick. I made some tweaks to their inventory so they weren't all wearing the same thing (it was creepy before), but I'm guessing my tweaks didn't quite work out.
