The high res pack seems to have somehow wiped all my third party texture mods, and even with the Beth pack disabled they aren't showing up in game. I tried reinstalling some and they still aren't working... what the hell...

I tried the high res pack and wasn't that impressed, especially with the landscape which I had a beautiful mod for that just made it look great. So I figured I'd just disable the packs and forget about them but they seem to have left their mark.

There is no reason why it wouldn't except for the RAM requirements, since XP doesn't see 4GB of ram and large address aware. When using high resolution textures, RAM requirements are higher as well as VRAM and in XP it could be a problem and make your game unstable.

They likely should have specified "64 bit OS", not just Vista and 7, both of which have 32 bit version AFAIK

It could be because Vista and 7 have better memory management and likely more stable.

Yes. Working fine for me in Win XP 32bit, with 3.25 GB Ram, Quad Core CPU, GeForce 260. Average FPS around the 40 - 45 mark and no stuttering.

Looks awesome! Everything is a wee bit crisper and my eyes can really discern the difference! Looks less game-y now

looks great here too. just went for a nice crawl through a draugr infested dungeon and the difference was quite obvious. the draugr look so much better, armor and weapons better, and everything else had just that little bit extra...like the cherry on the top. i'm quite happy.

Big question: I have a Toshiba Qosimo laptop, and I presume that its NVidia video card is likely a video chip on the motherboard. The texture pack supposedly requires 4 GB RAM and 2GB on the video card. I have 6 GB of RAM, so do I still have to have an actual video card with 2 GB on it, or will the 6 GB of RAM and an NVidia chip suffice? Or do laptops sometimes have actual video cards on them? If I'm not going to be able to run the new textures smoothly, I'd rather just not download them at all.

This texture pack is bugged out.

I am running vanila, freshly installed skyrim with the dlc bethesda texture pack, and I have downloaded from steam about 5 times today,
because I started a new game and ran into npcs with purple clothing. It's really getting annoying.

I have had the game since November, and have never had a problem until now. I am downloading the texture pack yet again, and verifying, but
it still happens. Yeah , sure if i start the game again, it goes away, but it shows up again after travelling and there's no reason I have to reload my game,
because of this.

Just not worth it after this install. I'm going back to console textures i guess. Sad , really, since my pc can handle the textures.

Maybe I will try to roll back my driver......doubt that is the problem however.

I find it odd that the base untextured model is rendered purple.

Is there a way to delete this from my computer? Instead of just disabling them.
I think the "Delete Selected" option in the select data files is what I want, but why can't I uncheck Skyrim.esm?

Because Skyrim.esm is the game. If you uncheck it, you wouldn't be launching anything.

Because that's the master file. Delete that and you break your game. Which is why it wont let you.

By the way it appears that I can't use non esp texture replacers with the high res texture pack? Anyone can confirm this? I had the better glass armor installed silver and ruby version. but I've tried reinstalling and it doesn't do anything.

And here is after i reload the game, and purple is gone.

It's not my setup. Never in 9 years have i had a purple texture problem. I have multiple games on my pc, and
there are no problems. So, the texture pack from beth is the issue.

In fact, it happens to different textures at different times.

Pain.

Aye yi yi it took forever to get the download today and it was great to finally play after getting it. I could tell right away that everything looked better on my game and I only play on High settings because it's all my card can handle. Thank you for the surprise today, BGS; it is very appreciated and so are you.

I didn't get the CK yet but I did get the mod that gives you an apothecary satchel by the alchemy table of each house you own. I only own two right now though so I haven't seen them all yet. Great mod idea. It was also great to see a bunch of happy people for a change...it helps the mood on a day when I really need it. :tes:

That's what I thought, if i click delete selected, would it ignore the skyrim.esm file and delete the 3 GBs of data files from my computer?

How much RAM do you have? Did you do anything to the BSAs after downloading them? What OS are you using?

Ok, I am trying to load order with nmm. Haven't used a load order program yet. So, Skyrim is defaulting the load order of the esp (bsa) to this:

Hirestexturepack02 (loaded after skyrim.esm).....then
Hirestexturepack01

So, maybe that is the problem.

I am trying to switch the load order and see if that works.

Again, I am running absolutely NO other mods

Just quoting this because I figured it might get skipped, being at the end of the previous page.

You have nothing to lose by trying it. If it's too much for your computer to handle, uncheck the boxes in the data files section of the launcher.

I am running windows xp.

And that is not the problem.

I have done nothing with the files. I am running no mods.

i have a very stable set up.

I have a card with 1 gb of ram.

5770 hd ati

12.1 ati drivers.

I can't seem to figure it out..........other than, this texture pack.

Like i said, maybe it's the video drivers. But, i see no reason why that would be.
