On a scale of 1-10 what's skyrim

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 1:26 pm

Without a frame of reference these are all meaningless numbers. I give Skyrim a score of 9.0 out of 10. The reasons for this are first the truly open world were it is possible to build almost any kind of character I want. Next the look of the game, I know some bemoan it but for me the look of the game the attempt at a near realistic world to look at is awesome, way nicer than some of the oversized weapons, pastel colored crap I have seen. The amazing amount of things to do in the game, I mean I have put in over 200 hours and still not finished the game, WOW. Finally the opening of the game to the public to allow mods that expand the game. Not just a graphics update here and there but to actually add content to the game if we desire.

Now obviously the game is not perfect and there are some things I do not like the these are actually minor in the grand scheme of things. Now my hope is that the expansion we are all waiting for does not muck it up.

Red Dead Redemption is a solid 10 in my book. And I consider it the greatest game I've ever played in my life.

As for Skyrim... a 9 I would say.

I don't let bugs (which is inevitable nearly) get in the way of my scoring. Skyrim is a big game, and games like it often have a lot of bugs - so I won't complain... plus I've never ran across a game-breaking glitch in Skyrim.

I preferred the characters, storyline, and missions in Red Dead Redemption over Skyrim. And yes, I feel the two games are comparitive in terms of free-roam and storyline.

Easily a 10/10. Despite it's flaws, Skyrim has kept me playing for hundreds of hours, and I still haven't even explored half of it. Only two other games have done that for me - one of which is Oblivion, a game which I still play regularly. The graphics are amazing, the detail is superb and the adventure is unlimited. It's a truly amazing game!

9, it's on par with Morrowind for me.
Loads of flaws but they're overshadowed by the good.

As the best open-world sandbox RPG created thus far...and by far....I am going to give it a 9.
That it is also designed so players can change the game any way they want...even create a new game...well that deserves another 9.
So let me see...9 and 9 is....18
Yes there it is...altogether I give it 18 out of 10.

I'm not going to give it a number rating but for me it does not rate high as a TES game.

As an open-world game... 9 out 10. As an RPG? 5 out of 10. As an Elder Scrolls game? I guess I'll average the two and give it a 7. (More like an 8 with mods)

As a game all on it's own, I'd give it a 9. As an Elder Scrolls game, I'd give it a 6.5

I'd give it a 9, which is about what I'd give all the TES games. For a game to be a 10, for me atleast, it would have to be perfect. Not including the bugs, there are many balance issues in Skyrim and things I just dislike. Still, its a really great game, with its own strengths and weaknesses like all the TES games.

What is the difference?

Attributes, skills, birthsigns, classes, armour degradation, spellmaking, factions, disposition, about three quarters of the spell effects, politics, lore, writing, maturity, freedom and RPG.

Comparing with Morrowind:
Gameplay= Morrowind 8.0 skyrim 8.5
Graphics= Cant compare, one is 2002 other is 2011
Varieties and Diversity of things(dialogs, random events etc)= morrowind 9.0 skyrim 7.5(morrowind actually recognises your achievements, thats why)
Questlines and interest = Morrowind 9.5 Skyrim 7.0

This is because in morrowind, quests are not like skyrim, since in morrowind, questlines are much interesting and longer.

Comparing with Oblivion:
Gameplay= OB 8.5 Skyrim 9.0
graphics= obviously skyrim...
variaties etc= oblivion 8.5 skyrim 7.5, since NPCS in skyrim dont give a damn about what you do. At least oblivion has some sort of recognition.
Questlines= OB 8.5 Skyrim 8.0, pretty much similar.

And one more thing, Skyrim's cities are so small....
I dislike 2 things in skyrim. Lack of choices and lack of recognition. Thats it. Maybe gamesas can fix random dialogs too. I dont want to hear 'Papa says i wont see roggvir anymore, but he wont tell me why not' 500million times
But for a 2011-12 game, skyrim is 9.5 IMO, much better than those other games.
This is purely subjective.

Never liked attributes, you still have skills, birthsigns are replaced by Guardian stones, you can make your own classes now, armor degradation needed an overhaul (badly, very badly), same with spellmaking X 10, you still have guilds, disposition (what do you mean by that? Sorry, I'm not english), you still have plenty of spells and effects, same with politics, lore, writing, maturity, freedom and RPG.

Never liked attributes? Attributes did so many things that H/M/S just can't. I for one liked having to actually have high Intelligence and Willpower skills to master the arcane arts. It allowed us to better define characters and helped to prevent jack-of-all-trades type deals. And I don't see how anyone can say the writing in Skyrim is well done. But I digress... we're getting off topic.

No.
What you are printing are all things that are irrelevant, fallacious, or worse, counter productive.

It doesnt really matter that you never liked attributes. This is an RPG.
I still have skills? 18 instead of 30+
No, birthsigns are not replaced with guardian stones. this is what we call a fallacious argument. Birthsigns can be changed on a whim.
You cannot make your own classes now. Classes are gone.
Disposition is what NPC's thought of you. Play Morrowind, its the last good TES game and it did it adequately.
An overhaul is not scrapping.
An overhaul is not scrapping *10.
Hah! Hah! and double hah!

Look, if youre not even going to try I dont see why I have to either.
The game does less. This is not a good thing. If you think that less is a good thing then I do not understand your thinking brain processes.

Daggerfall and Morrowind made you care about the world because it had an intricate political system and fascinating NPC's.
Skyrim has nice graphics.
I amend my first vote.
As a TES game goes, its a 5.

To me, Attributes confine things. It makes a class for you, but not by you. But for the sake of this topic, you're welcome to send me a PM if you want a civil discussion over time about this :)
