Seriously Bethesda? LAZY

No whats amazing is you bothered to even post this and consider it a serious problem

What's amazing to me is how much you're overreacting to him. The OP never said anything about it being "a serious problem." It's a criticism, and a fair one. Not worth giving up the game over, but worth a mention at least.

That's because rather than whine and moan like the majority of the forum, I'd rather enjoy the game I've been given. Of course Skyrim is not the perfect game. Of course improvements could be made. But it's not my job to fix them and any criticism I could give is going to be the same stuff that everyone else has said a hundred times over. Instead, I'd rather try to help people actually enjoy themselves, but I guess I'm in the wrong place to be doing that, because clearly everyone would rather be angry and go have a love affair with Morrowind than attempt to appreciate anything released in the present.

I defend Skyrim because I love Skyrim, the same as I love all the other games in the series. It has its flaws just like all of them, but I don't like it when things I love get crapped on, especially when they don't deserve it.
Don't take it personally. And if there is something you don't like, you need to sound off. That's how some changes happen. Criticism sometimes leads to positive changes. If you don't say anything negative, one would assume you like every aspect of the game. It's equally important to acknowledge the parts you enjoyed.

Children shouldn't have been in the game in the 1st place but for the most part I agree with the OP. Kids had much more depth in Fallout 3 then Skyrim.

Why don't you enjoy the game then and post on forums?
How are you helping anyone?
If you truly loved it then you would try and help making it better with feedback.

And that's where I come in. Since before this game was released, the majority of these forums have been negativity and criticism. At least a few of us have to step in and say what we liked and defend what other people complain about. I have to say, if I worked for Bethesda and participated in Skyrim, I'd probably avoid the forums altogether, just because it would break my heart to spend so many years working on a game and putting in so much time and effort only to see the people who received it [censored] all over it and call me lazy. I can understand constructive criticism and I encourage it, but why does it have to be coupled with an insult all the time?

Children really make the game seem more real. I love how they play tag in the game too. Great job Bethesda!

They just need more variety on the types of kids thats all

Looks like Dragonborn1 left an everlasting legacy. His fanboyism runs through this forum even in his absence. Can't say anything negative about this game or people auto assume that you're a troll.

Agreed. This is a fair point, but calling them "lazy" is just ridiculous. You're acting like "making a couple of models" is as easy as pressing the "MAKE MESH" button in the Creation Kit.

I think the insults start flying when the issue is really obvious. I mean the kids all wear the same outfit and have the same voice. If they didn't have different names, you'd assume they were all from the same race. It's a head scratcher. If something's not done well, I'd rather it was left out.

They harp on "attention to detail", and this just sticks out as clearly the opposite.

Although, having elf and beast children would have made the cloned Nord children less apparent.

Well only problem is, that Khajiits are just Merchants/Travellers and not really living in towns. Orc children in their Camps would be an other thing though. But since i don't looking at the Skyrim children the whole day i don't really care about them. Also there are only three Kids in each town :D so that every Child in the town atleast is unique. :D

Well then you shouldn't work for them. Look, these guys know the nature of their business. They may roll their eyes at some of the bile they see on these boards, but they presumably have a thick skin and are able to separate the vitriol from the actual complaints and weigh for themselves if there's any validity to them. You can't just ignore the forums.

If you use words like fanboyism and lazy... well if it walks like a duck.

OT Perhaps other races did not bring the kids with them to Skyrim due to the inhospitable climate.weather and the civil war

I would imagine that a professional level modeler could pump out a character model in eight hours or less.

The casuals love it. The vets think it's a turd.

"Vet" here, and despite the generosity of you doing so, I don't need kiddies speaking on my behalf on the interwebs, but if I do feel the need, you'll be the first person I call.

Regards.

Seriously this is a nitpick complaint. In the game I saw there were children and I thought cool and I played tag with one and did a quest for one evil kid. They arent perfect in my opinion but they are good enough and they really add to the immersion of the game.

There is ALWAYS going to be some things they could have done better, stop being so damn ungrateful of all the things they did so greatly.

OP is right, things like these are not minor in a game like TES diversity and crazy detail are supposedly legit trademarks.

Would adding an extra child model or two set you back that much? Jarring, immersion breaking, plain LAZY. All of the kids are recycled everywhere. For a studio that harps on attention to detail this is a lazy oversight.

This complaint is ridiculous. What were you expecting, to have all the races represented in a land dominated by the Nords?

I don't know if they pegged the space limit, but you can only stuff so much data on a retail disk. Having more variety in the child's model only eats up said disk and leaves less room for more meaningful content.

So maybe it was an oversight, maybe it wasn't. Just be glad they're represented because unlike the other ES titles, they were non-existent. Besides, there's dozens of other activities to do besides taking note of the single child model in the game. Just load up and play.

"The vets"?

Who in the nine hells voted you community spokesman.

You got limited kids' models and skins, so you just about pitch a hissy?

Oh, the humanity. Seriously bro. Cool story and all, but wake me when you have a legit beef

Running out of time != laziness

Deliberate design decision != running out of time OR laziness. (I seriously doubt that anyone thought they'd need more than one kid model.)
