Seriously Bethesda? LAZY

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 10:24 am

Seriously? That's what you got from the discussion?

The problem is not that they're all Nords... it's that they all have THE SAME EXACT FACE AND HAIRSTYLE!!! A couple more faces and hairdos per gender wouldn't really hurt anyone, especially since advlts already have a ton of different hair/faces etc...

And yes, it's not a big issue... compaired to all the others...

Oh for Christ's sake.

Having meaningful content in a game is important than what the damn kids looks like. Like I said, this complaint is ridiculous and pales in comparison to the other issues that plagues this game.

Well, even nord and imperial kids look completely same. Only thing that determines what race they are is their names.

That's not a good thing that this issue "pales in comparison" to other things that "plague this game." Yikes.

That's kind of why I said it.

Calling someone out on a video game forum to be with their family is pretty much equal to getting on a video game forum and complaining.

At this point I'm not sure who said what. I know this that complaining svcks if there is nothing to complain about. When I went on the ps3 forum to complain I had a reason a very good reason, me and millions of other people. It had been almost a month without any online and two weeks without a single word from Sony. Just for kicks my complaint was I use my ps3 for instant Netflix and Hulu and was getting charged for them even though I was not be to use them the way I did. That was a horrible month lol.

Also anyone who hasn't been watching A Christmas Story for the last 24 hours is lame. Unfortunately that's me. I need a Red Ryder BB gun to pick trolls off with. Actually the one from fallout 3 would work.

Didn't bother me, didn't break immersion.

As far as Skyrim goes on a list of bugs and issues this is near the bottom.

OP is right.
The only excuse that I can think of for Bethesda is that if they had made more models for kids it wood bog down the performance because it does not use the character creator to make them.
really would have been cool if there were beast and elf children to.

It is constructive. It points out a lazy design choice. Should no one make threads like this, how in the hell would Bethesda know that we do care about details and that we do hope the next game will feature more character models for children?

Its not mature constructive criticism when you start off by bashing the company in the title. Do you really think Bethesda will care about your comment when you call them lazy?

If they didn't put any kids in the game i wouldn't have mind, but since they did, why not all races. lazy? yes.

Meh. It's a little harsh. I love Skyrim. It's a great game, so I wouldn't accuse them of being lazy. It's certainly poor form having clone kids. I'd rather them just not be in, at all. I think everyone's reacting way too much, though. I disagree with the lazy thing, but I'm not personally offended. I just don't know why people would argue over OP saying lazy.. It's just derailing the topic (I realize the topic says "LAZY" in it, but I thought it was just a way to pull in readers). OP's a bit dramatic, just like those who are reacting so strongly to his use of "lazy."

For that matter, why cant we select to play as a child instead of an advlt? Seriously, a pint sized brat shooting lightning and everything is amusing to me.

Velorien, none of your posts are anything other then defending the game. I've never seen a negative Skyrim post from you. I don't take your posts seriously. Sorry.
And this post, right here is where I break down laughing and close my browser.

Wow. People are such really devoted fan that they're suggesting one child model is sufficient? How much does Beth pay PR plants?

No "devoted fan" or "PR plant" involved.

Simply experience with how they've designed games in the past.

Oblivion? One model for "advlt male", one model for "advlt female". No variations at all.
Fallout 3? Ditto, plus one model for "child".

Skyrim's got the slight improvement of the large/small slider to go between two models for male & female. But I still wouldn't expect (based on previous design philosophy of the developers) for there to be more than one "child" model. (After all, there's little need for the "buff / slim" adjustment, and there's little obvious difference between adolescent male & female, beyond what clothes they wear and face/hair.)

So yeah - based on previous experience with their design methods, I'm not at all surprised that there's one model for children. And the reason people cry "troll" is probably the way you're insistently trying to build up an incredibly trivial slight ("OMG, one child model! IMMERSION RUINED!11!one!1!!") into something huge. And then insulting the people calling you on it.

edit: seriously, if you want to try to flog a reasonable-sounding complaint about the children in the game, why not talk about how they've got voice actors that don't fit with the rest of the people in the game. That, at least, is noticeable.

It is incorrect to call the developers lazy because there aren't enough child models. If child models had been lost to playing, napping, and shooting the breeze, then their absence might be a result of laziness. They were lost to other work, however, so laziness isn't the problem. If the OP were a talented modeler and had been on the Skyrim team, we would have no more child models that we have now.

Not models.. races. I think that's the op's issue. It's mine, anyway.

Okay. Flaming posters is not a good idea. As hard as it might be for some people to believe, there are players who enjoy the game and don't consider the same issues and concerns you may have to be major, game-breaking problems. That doesn't mean that they are being paid off by Bethesda.

There is a thread about Skyrim being an unfinished game. Using that one might be a better idea.
