Show your weapons on your Avatar in 3rd Person...WHAT HAPPEN

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 3:12 pm

Hello Everyone.

I know this might seem like a small and irrelevant problem, but I am really annoyed with dual wield not having a sheath graphic for both swords. I would like to see my bow and arrows, and my sword and dagger on my avatar at the same time. Each one being removed when I bring them out(activate them).

There is a mod for this called armed to the teeth... It barely works and the working version requires you to individually change each item using the CK... update: Even the manual install method has issues with modded armor, weapons, and a plethora of other circumstances that cause CTDs... I can get this mod running for 15 mins before it CTD's...it's like a kick starter on a [censored] bike that catches after 6 tries...

I don't understand why this wasn't implemented in the game where Bethesda took the trouble of adding new animations to the 3rd person perspective to make it better. Todd Howard said over and over again that he wanted to make things more fluid and therefore, immersive... and that happened to be sure. But I just fail to see how something as simple as an animation for your second sword being placed on your avatar and being able to draw that weapon out...Like you do every other weapon or weapon set. I mean the arrows don't disappear when you equip the bow... so...

Again... not a big deal. I love this game very very much. But please don't dismiss it, just consider it... Would you like it...

And if you know why they can't place this in the game... Like a limitation of the engine...let me know... Because the Armed to the teeth guy figured it out.. Unstable and VERY tedious... but its there.

thoughts?

Agreed this is actually a very annoying and disturbing little problem... also how you hold your weapons in first person looks different from 3rd.

Bows disappearing when sheated, 2h weapons disappearing while using other melee weapons and, last, the clipping. Every single sword has its hilt clipping through the left arm of the character when seated in the scabbard.

People complained in Morrowind that equipped weapons were not visible, since Oblivion we've this system that allows one quiver and one melee weapon to be showed. It isn't exactly the best but, at least, npcs aren't now oulling their weapons out of thin air.

I'll gladly add this to my wishlist for either the next patch or the expansion.
It would be a nice feature to have all equiped weapons on you when sheated.
I'd also be nice to have something thats been asked after since times Morrowind,Shield on Back.

They should make slots for each character:

2h on back (melee, ranged, or STAFF. Why can't staves be on our backs??)
1h left
1h right
Quiver

They will all stay on your character, and whatever is selected as being "equipped" is whatever you will take out when you unsheath your weapon or try to attack. This doesn't sound too fantastical and impossible, but I'm not a programmer so w/e.

It is possible to show your weapons like in the armed to the teeth mod, but it's a forced glitch and it only works when it feels like it. I can have any weapon equipped and my axe will still be on my hip, but to force this glitch I need 2 ebony axes in my inventory and my Fav. list in order for it to look like I have a sword and two axes equipped, it will remain even when changing weapons. But once I change in and out of my armor and clothing I have to force the glitch once more by taking out my dual weapons, sheathing them again and then taking off and putting back on what ever apparel I'm wearing.
It seems like it was meant to be in the game but wasn't fine tuned for the final product, so now it acts like a glitch instead of the way it was intended. Still, I feel like a bad ass with my battle axe out and still see my axe on my hip, or have my bow out and still see my axe on my hip, just like being " armed to the teeth " :gun: The only combo that I have yet managed to force to work is a dagger and sword combo, it just doesn't seem to want to cooperate like the axes. :glare:

Anyone know of any official response from Bethesda about the 3rd person avatar... I know that dual wielding was placed in the game later on... I am guessing they had issues changing the existing code they had built once they decided to integrate dual wield... Ah whatever. It's not game breaking... and why does talking about the game always get some cynical dude to say we are whining? It's not a whine friend... I paid 60 bucks and I am going to pay more...If you expect more out of the products you buy, then the companies will make them better...

I'd like to see this too, but I'd like to see them fix the DW-Favorites interaction even more.

For those who don't know: if you DW a matched pair of weapons, have both them and a spell or other one-handed attack in your Favorites menu, and then swap to the latter, the game will forcibly un-equip the DW weapon in that hand and remove it from the list. Fixing this requires re-adding the weapon to the list and re-equipping the pair, and you have to do this every time you wield anything other than the DW pair.

To my knowledge, this doesn't happen if the two weapons don't match, because then you have to have them in separate Favorite slots. When they do match, though, they occupy the same slot, and that's when the headaches start.

I was slightly miffed when I realized that they omitted to show you having another sword.

Staves could work on your back if they were melee staves, but I don't think magical staves should go to your back when you "sheathe" them. I'd like the staves to remain in your hand when "sheathed" but the position changed so you use it as a walking stick and not as a weapon.

Agreed 100%. There's no way this was an engine, or mesh limitation. There are many unused slots, so it's not that. I use Armed to the Teeth and it makes a huge difference visually ( it can be a bit buggy though.) hopefully Beth decides to spend a few hours and make this happen.

If one sword clips, maybe they didnt want the mess of two swords clipping? Could just never have your char sit down though.

I know I seem like I'm on the defense of Skyrim a lot but doesn't this seem like an ignorant complaint compared to all the other feats Bethesda has accomplished in this game?

think of everything else they've developed and how much work they must have endured to get to this point and then think of what you're complaining about: an animation with the sheathing of weapons. literally the definition of nit-picking.

First, ignorant complaint makes no sense. Ignorant how? I never said that I hated the game... I am just pointing to something that has concerned me. I acknowledge that some don't care... They should go start forum posts on subjects they care about, including talking about how many great "feats" Bethesda has made. As a consumer, I am entitled to share my idea's here, and I appreciate feedback though...

Asthetics can be very important, they can make or break immersion for some players, OP obviously is bothered by it, so its a fair comment.

For example BF3 has better movement animations than MW3, I cant play MW3 simple because the immersion breaks with the clunky movement for me.

 I thought you were a console player? I just assumed cause PC has the armed to the teeth mod for this, but us console players are stuck with the bugged version. Hence you starting this topic, you were a console player, but if your on PC then why not use the mod?

They should make slots for each character....

...and then a hotkey or option to turn it all off (so that it only shows the equipped weapons). It'd certainly be annoying if we were stuck looking like hobos with all sorts of crap dangling on our characters. And being forced to not actually have any weapons in quickslots, so that I could keep my character looking good would be pretty obnoxious.

(I keep having to do my character screenshots over again, since I keep forgetting to not only hit "2" - to put my bow away - but also go into the menu and unequip my arrows so that the quiver isn't underfoot.)

forget about it guys. this topic has been brought up again again and again.
leveledthesda will never fix it because to them its not Important enough. sad but true.
there is only little hope left that some talented modder will make this happen and working well and thus fixing leveledthesdas lazyness on that part because that was simply it : they were to lazy to bother about it since it was not important enough for them to address it.

That would be good but It would take a lot of work getting the animations right.

Ever seen what happens when you try and draw a staff? Or sheathe it? Yeah, out of thin air. The fact that this didnt happen in Oblivion is yet another sign of the corners cut in this great, yet unfinished game.

I think that if you have a staff equipped, you should just use it as a walking stick when not readied. Gandalf style.
