silenced weapons?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 3:56 pm

i mean every weapon (IRL) having an attachable silencer?

the 9mm svcked for stealth kills in F3, infact, it was pretty useless.

what I really loved to do in F3 was to sneak around encampments and pick of guards with the silenced 9mm (to do this in 1 clean headshot required a master pistol skill, playing on very easy)

obviously it would be better with a sniper or silenced mp5 of some sort.

thoughts?

not everyone likes to run and gun!!!!!

How about a http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Silenced_.22_SMG There will be silencer attachments for other weapons as well, I would imagine, but this one has a built-in suppressor.

I'd think it's quite obvious you can put suppressors on various guns with the Mod feature...
In one of the first previews/interviews they even say that "You'll be able to put silencers on your guns". Maybe not straight out like that, but somewhere along the lines of it.
And yeah, the 10mm was a proper waste of time seeing as it was one of the only guns that were suppressed, as well as having REALLY low base damage. I still enjoyed playing James Bond in The Statesman though :ninja:

Hey trust me man I understand where your coming from
I love to play as a sneak character but I didn't know why the 10mm was the only silenced weapon

but don't fret cause I'm sure there are plenty of silencers
for weapon modifications in FNV

Yeah, apparently a lot of the guns will have a silencer mod. I don't really care because I'm going to try to play with as many Energy Weapons as possible. With New Vegas, I'll probably be able to go half Guns half Energy Weapons unlike in Fallout 3. Silenced weapons are going to make New Vegas a lot more accessible to players unlike myself who rely on stealth. All I really care about is sneak attack criticals. The silenced American 180 looks really good BTW.

I'm pretty sure the Infiltrator and Perforator were both silenced Assault Rifles from FO3, you could get both in the Pitt. :tops:

Right you are, these brilliant fellows have forgotten that it was the 10mm pistol that was silenced, and there were no 9mm pistols or even rounds in Fallout 3.

I never said it was accurate, I was just saying that there was two silenced Assault Rifles. (Never used either to honest, just have em' in my collection of weapons)

Besides I prefer not to hide in the shadows, I charge in Gung-ho and finish business. :tops:

Big question isnt if silenced weapons will be in game but is will there be a ability to play stealthy. I havent seen any evidence so far (havent really been looking either) that critical kills with the stealth silenced weapon would kill the person you shot but not notify the whole damn city/town of what you did.

That was very annoying, What is the point of getting a stealthy, hidden kill if everyone in the whole town would end up turning hostile towards you afterward?

Very much defeats the point of playing a stealth character in my opinion. :tops:

And yet when you stealth killed a hostile, his friends that were standing right next to him wouldn't even blink.

Never liked that either.

I never really cared for silenced weapons in Fallout. I mean, sneaking isn't really my thing, so silenced weapons aren't really useful for someone who wants to go in guns blazing. But, I think there should be more silenced weapons.

I found that in F3, silenced weapons still gave your position away after just one shot. It seemed all enemies within range of visually detecting you, even if they couldn't see each other, were all able to pin point your location. Maybe I just wasn't hidden enough?

Yea I wasn't a huge fan of the detection system in FO3 (or oblivion TBH). I think if enemies see their buddy's head get blown off, they should be freaking about a bit; but not going after you unless they see you.

Towns were also annoying, if no one actually saw you kill somebody, they shouldn't turn hostile.

Personally, I'd LOVE to see a suppressed sniper rifle.

The only guns on Fallout 3 that felt like a warmth when firing were the Sniper Rifle and the Silenced 10mm. So adding silencers to any weapon (logical weapons) would be a dream come true.

Same here, they could correct it though, if a friend dies right next to them they go ape[censored] but if you kill someone enemy or friendly neutral where no one else sees it or is in the room no one should become hostile or go ape[censored].

You're right, it was a 10mm that was in the game, though in practice, I doubt a 9mm would have behaved any differently as far as gameplay is concerned.

I have to agree there, they really need to improve NPC detection of a stealth-using character. Now, if people suddenly see someone die from a shot to the head, they should obviously get suspicious and start looking around the environment, but they should not psychically know it was you. They should only know you are the culprit if they actually see where the bullet came from.

Stealth was a little hinky, but is was also an extremely complicated system. Having enemies automatically know you killed their buddy is kind of better than like it was in old games where you could kill an enemy that was standing right next to another one from far away and the other enemy wouldn't even move IMO. If that makes sense. I'm happy that you can add your own silencers in New Vegas. I'm going to use Energy Weapons 2/3 of the time, but having silenced weapons will be fun too now.
