I sincerely hope there's good werewolf stuff in Dawnguard.

I'm guessing werewolves will at least get their perk tree that was shown in the Game Jam video. Perhaps vampires too?

Perks for everyone!

Bethesda would be smart and save them for the next game

I this is a proper expansion so we get lots of content that covers several things. i would hate for this to be another knights of the nine quest line.

I would like spell creation and additional spells, hopefully we get a new island to explore with different quest that has nothing to do with the vampire centered theme.

Considering it won't even have been a year since Skyrim's release before this is (even counting the time for MS's testing and certification), I don't expect it to be near the size of a proper expansion.

You guys have to remember a key thing tho. This is something you all seem to be forgetting when comparing DLC size to Oblivion, or even Fallout 3.

Bethesda has nearly doubled in size since Oblivion! They have also become a heck of alot richer. Bethesda is now a big name company, not some backdrop company like it was before Fallout (No offense bethesda, but until Fallout 3 i never heard of you... and i even played oblivion when it first came out :P ). Still i have friends and people in school going on about Fallout 3, im practically a Genious on all things Fallout now. Anyways back to topic.

Bethesda can get soooo much more done in such a short period of time. Did you see what they did in ONE week, when GOOFING off? :D Imagine if they worked liked that, all one hundred of them, backed by Bethesda's funding... :) I expect it to be a good sized DLC, maybe not land wise, but alot of new content :)

I don't even want to see a dog in the DLC.

VAMPIRE DOGGG

*spoilers I guess? I mean... it's June now..*

Also, vampires did NOT have nothing people.. they had what they always have. The ability to get bitten by one and become one. The Werewolf "questline" was honestly cool so far as the Companions go, but as far as werewolves go? Quite lame. If you don't want to be one, too bad you're forced.. if you DO want to be one, it's now all of a sudden okay with the biggest warrior faction in Skyrim? Tamriel traditionally hasn't been okay with werewolves.. I guess guards do attack you but... Morrowind just had a cooler approach to werewolves IMHO.

Edit: Also perk trees for vampires or werewolves does not make sense. It's not a skill... at the most they should have abilities. Are these game mechanics being suggested by anyone who has been with the series since before 11/11/11? Skills are skills are skills.. There are few enough of them as it is anymore, at least leave their integrity intact (aka don't make a "WEREWOLF/VAMPIRE ATTACKZOAR" skill tree..)

Edit 2: Three cheers for vsions :)

Gah vsions, your awesome man.

Even if you didn't tell us what we are getting (or when) I wish you could tell enough to get the vampire players to stop bugging us with their fairness issues.

(no offense to vamp players who haven't been complainig about werewolf players)

And to clarify, I have been asking for a werewolf perk tree in terms of balancing their attack/defense with the rest of the game. If they can be balanced by patch/ something else that is fine also.

As much as vsions is messing with us there has to be something, even if it just an easter egg.

If I could manage, I'd get a PC just for good werewolf mods (skins for different races, beast form toggle, etc.).

Besides that, did anyone notice that the gentleman who was talking about his daughter had yellow eyes but no fangs? Even Babette has fangs.

I noticed that too. Also, the winged demon creature that the trailer was showing didn't really seem like a vampire to me. Okay, maybe a horribly mutated vampire. If I have to find a name for it, it looked more along the lines of a traditional gargoyle. The goblin-like face, the bat wings connected to the back and not to the arms, the upper part of the body being much wider and more muscular while the (digigrade!) legs seemed a little thin, the unpractical, huge size of the hand and claws.

These images are pretty much spot on but search 'gargoyle' on Google and you'll get a lot more.

Looked like what I'd expect a feral vampire who hasn't fed for a long time, and has been overcome by his vampiric nature would look like to me (like the Vargheist from Warhammer Fantasy's Vampire Counts). Those things also bleed (see 1:00 mark on the trailer for combat), I don't expect gargoyles to bleed.

Good observation. Any lore experts have gargoyle looking creatures that are not gargoyles?

Or could it be a new creature?

Actually I think I might be wrong, they could be gargoyles, because they look very similar to the stone gargoyles at 0:07

Edit: Just confirmed that they are. I did a frame by frame of when you see one properly, and it isn't bursting out of the wall, it is bursting out of a stone gargoyle shell (from a crouched position, then standing up). So yep gargoyles.

Gargoyles do bleed. They're only immune or much more resistent to damage while in their stone form, during the day. At night they come alive and look pretty much like what we saw in the video. They descend from the towers where they are perched during the day and feast on the guilty sinners according to the mythology and folklore surrounding them. In the middle ages, a lot of Churches requested such demon-gargoyle (as there were also regular animal, chimera and human shaped gargoyles) statues on their temples as ornamention to scare people into going there.

A few months ago I wouldn't have expected it, but Beth seem to be chucking everything that was in the Game Jam video at us and that would include a werewolf perk tree. A dragonborn one though? I doubt it.

Now there is a question to ask a philosopher.

Did stories of werewolves vs vampires cause the fans to hate each other, or was it the other way around.?

I hate to say it, but bethesda could probably have capitalised on this fact.
I prefer the story as it is now though :)

Ok, look. Marketing is a different animal than most people think it is.

Why was the trailer so vampire centric? Because the expansion is called Dawnguard- the new playable faction whose purpose is to kill vampires. Introducing Dawnguard meant they would have to show you the 'main' story, which involves vampires. Plus,, again, marketing- look at the new Facebook photo- Dovahkiin with glowing red eyes is so badass. Why is Dovahkiin, the dragonborn, still wearing a crappy level 3 helmet? Because it's an iconic image of what people know from the original Skyrim marketing. The same as the iconic image of this hero, the Dragonborn, with evil red eyes. It's striking. It's exciting. It's introducing the idea of "you played the hero, now play the villain."

Werewolves will get some love in this expansion, as will tons of other things. But in this initial marketing push, they have a controlled, conscious idea of what they want people to see, in order to excite them about the expansion.

Ah bethesda's marketing... The one thing I hate about them.

Anyways I agree with what you say, they are marketing this as a vampire DLC... But that doesn't mean the entire thing is just going to be vampire lords and dawnguard.

They could have new civil war quests for all we know.

I really do believe werewolves will get a sidequest or two to introduce whatever they do to balance them.

Now that they have their main trailer out for the DLC, I hope we hear this at bethesda's E3 show:

Location
New features not shown in video
Amount of side quests
Werewolf content
Snow prince.

Very much overdone recently, and has been completely and utterly destroyed by a certain franchise...
Underworld is awesome, though with the most recent they have sorta gone OTT with it, it's still incredible!
