I want to create a beautiful nord warrior or elf queen but i just can't see myself playing a female..is that sixist or common?
Didn't read past Post 1.
I am an old male. Some even say dirty old male. Hell, I've even said it. I enjoy creating female chars more than male. I put myself in the male's shoes. I put myself in the female's head.

Mages are generally intelligent people, they study at schools, devoted to magic. And females are generally more intelligent then males.
On average, females and males have about the same IQ. The difference is that most females place mid-scale, while males have higher represantation on the margins - both the lowest and highest IQ. Statistically, geniuses are more often male than female, as are complete idiots. If magic requires high intelligence, then we can safely assume the most talented mages will usually be men.

I beg your pardon...A gracious Aldmeri woman is far more superior in intel, looks and power than any male of any race.

Hell if I know, I never have had the inkling to play a female character in anything myself.

Oh yes, I've played plenty of games where the protaganist is female and even chosen a female character occassionally in a game where there is an option -such as Tenchu- but in a game like this with a custom character, i've never made a female character.

I play both sixes but with Beth games I usually play female chars. I learnt my lesson with Oblivion when my nord male joined the Dark Brotherhood and I put on my super cool assassin gear only to find out my ass looked like a polished apple in my skin tight gimp suit O.o

Then with FO3 and NV my male chars walked like they desperately needed a dump so that was it, no more doods for me lol

I'm a female and I play both male and female characters. I don't view my characters as avatars of myself, some people do and as such, make a character whose gender matches their own. Some people just get a concept that's a specific gender.

Actually, those games are what prompted me to start creating female characters. My first was three years ago, maybe longer, in ME2. Femshep was great. I'm a pervy old man and the babe to babe was what locked me in. I have never looked back. I usually play like I'm a third party looking in anyway. Kind of like a Spirit Follower or movie director.

I don't look as women being lesser or have any concerns about being sixist in life as i'm a gentleman to real ladies...i was just curious how other people perceive gender choice in skyrim.

I prefer male because i like to create characters that are extensions of me and i have no feminine side :)

I put myself in the male's shoes. I put myself in the female's head.

That's a fabulous summarization of what I discovered about my own imagination thru trial-and-error in Oblivion. No matter what backstory and RP setup I had for a character, if that character was male, I'd inevitably find that character evolve into a typical mold. It took me a while to realize that with male characters, their story always became my story -- i.e., eventually the decision-tree became corrupted and taken over by, "What would *I* do?"

For me, at least, when I play a female character, it remains their story: "What would *she* do." And, because of this, it's more riveting because I never know how or where that story will change and turn.

Well, either that, or continually looking at a more attractive posterior keeps my Muse, umm, stimulated -- opinions may vary. :bunny:

Do you really need the validation of the forum for what character you play in a single-player game? Play however you want. I always prefer to play females because I relate to a female better. All four of my PCs have been female. I'll probably play a male eventually.

Exactly. That is the main reason I enjoy using female chars. It helps keep me in the RP mode. ( Plus the eye candy is nothing bad at all. ) My males always do as I would do.

I try...so hard to play a female avi, but I can't do it for long. I just, I have to put myself in some way shape or form in their shoes, and when I see boobs or know the issues of Women...I can't put myself in that position.

As far as "Playing a Lizard..." >_>..yes...many times yes...I've thought of myself as a different Race, Think Avatar. And yes, I've even role played a furry type character or beast race type situation...but The character has less animalistic situations versus just being a Humanoid with Beast Features. Think Thunder Cats.

I play mostly women myself. If I am going to play in 3rd person, which I always do, I go for the eye candy and the slinky armor mods. Lets face it, the dimozonized female anatomy is exceptional in my view. Besides, for as long as I have played Dragon Age Origins --to which I still do-- I have found after many, many games played that the women in DA:O are much better fighters all-around. Accordingly, the one and only time I ever played Dragon Age 2, the women there were better fighters all-around. (After the first game I tossed my DA 2 PC version disc into the dumpster. I hated that game.)

Weirdly enough as I think about this, I made my 1st TES character a Nord male because I couldn't see a female as a warrior. I'm female myself, know all about the valkyrie mythology and the real world anologs, but it just didn't feel right. A lot of films push the thing where you have a woman who looks like she stepped out of a nail salon but is a fighter, so maybe I react against the cliche'. I've come around, though, and now play almost all females, even as warriors. Whatever you relate to, do it. It's your game and no one can tell you how to play it.

i prefer to make female characters in games. video games are about doing things /being people you cant irl (or couldn't do without consequences, like gta).

I've tried but I never have much success playing male characters
Its easier to play something totally different like a Khajiit or Argonian. No one can say my interpretation is right or wrong but I'm my own worst critic when it comes to male characters. They tend to veer between no real difference to my female characters (in which case why play one?) to crude macho stereotypes (and assuming all men fit that stereotype would be sixist)

If you have the pC version there are already mods to make the female characters more beautiful. I use one and its noticeable

Sadly, I must admit, I exhibit the same behavior. Character creation is/should be interesting and investing, and so I play female with a heavy overhaul on aethestics (I am male).

I don't much see it as an extended part of me, just a way to roleplay something unfamiliar.

My first playthrough, sure, I made an Argonian theif that was male, but in my "random" or most recent, I enjoy using the mods I've retrieved so far to their full extent.

I think this is more of a "I always played females for their facial aesthetics" than "I enjoy my character's posterior, thus I play female toons", I honestly just don't enjoy roleplaying myself. Maybe I'm a pervert, lol, who knows.

I always model my main character after myself, in appearance, capabilities, and morality, for the sake of immersion. My alts are usually a mix, though, without any rhyme or reason.

Just do it, it's not like any of the content of the game changes. you just hear the feminine address when people talk to you.

The gender you play as is governed by personal preference. Your choice has only the most superficial of effects on the gameplay itself. (Much like most of the 'choices', really...)
