Description
Boosts your Skyrim via replacing most bottleneck code parts in the executable at runtime.

Changes
r3:
- More performance
r2:
- Fixed SkyUI compatibility bug
- Stability improvements
r1:
- First beta release based on Acceleration layer from Arisu
- Some code improvements comparing to Acceleration layer
- Fixed all Acceleration layer bugs

Installation
- Make sure that you are not using TESVAL (delete "Skyrim_dir\Data\SKSE\Plugins\TESVAL.dll")
- Copy "dinput8.dll" and "SkyBoost.asi" from "bin" folder to Skyrim dir (dinput8.dll is the same as in ScriptDragon)
- Play !

Compatibility
Fully compactible with TESV.exe version:
- 1.3.10.0 crypted steam
- 1.3.10.0 crypted steam rus

Notes
- In order to run SkyBoost your CPU must support SSE2
- Steam can make an update anytime so make the copy of TESV.exe to use SkyBoost after new patch outs because it will take a while to make SkyBoost update

Credits
- Arisu -- Acceleration layer developer
- Alexander Blade -- SkyBoost developer

That's not surprising. Go make a save at the top of the steps in Whiterun and use that as a before and after for benchmarking the mod.

So I'm still getting dips into the low 30s in Riften and mid 20s in Markarth, though much improved over vanilla. I run the game at 1680x1050 on a q9650@ stock speed, 4 gigs ram and a 285gtx. The places where I experience these dips are certainly CPU bound as lowering my resolution to 800X600 does next to nothing to improve minimum fps. I'm thinking of upgrading to a i5 2500K and maybe doing some modest overclocking (not going to upgrade my GPU atm with the new ATI/Nvidia cards around the corner). Can anyone with a similar setup let me know what type of improvements I might expect with a CPU upgrade?

a 2500K should just about keep the gpu completely fed, which will see you with around 45-50fps in markath with

ultra preset
2xMSAA
16xAF
Shadows on medium
no FXAA

Compatible with the Acceleration Layer mod? Or can I only use one of them?

Thanks for the reply, that would definitely be worth it then for me. I haven't played a single game besides Skyrim since it was released and everything else I do have runs fine.

Is it that hard to read?

No, you can only use one of them.

About the Triple Buffering thing... Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think forcing it by the Nvidia control panel setting is for DirectX games also, and not only OpenGL. I think it would've been stated if otherwise. The AMD/ATI setting is OpenGL only and it says so.
Also, I think I've seen somewhere an entry for the .ini files of Skyrim which forces TripleBuffering but I'm not 100% sure....

That is not true; I have been running Skyboost r3 and TESVAL together since the r3 release. Whether or not it is redundant I don't really care because my game has been running flawlessly.

Hm what's the point? they do the same thing any way i wonder if Skyboost overwrites tesval or other way around.

Had any broken scripts?

It really depends on the order they load in. Skyboot checks all memory addresses before it attempts to modify them. If the address doesn't contain Bethesda's original code, it doesn't modify the address. The addresses that they modify, in common, get the same code written to them, so it really doesn't matter if TESVAL overwrites Skyboost's modifications, because they will be the same (except for one function).

same here, skyboost + tesval works, but it doesn't boost performance since the optimizations in tesval are already present in skyboost, so there is not much point in doing so.

Finally got around to installing fraps.

Looking down on the tree from Dragon's Reach I get:
17 FPS vanilla
27 FPS with SkyBoost
That's one hell of a placebo effect!

This is on an old Opteron 175 @2.53GHz and a GTS450.

Editation: The above numbers were at 1152x864. I only lost about 1-2 FPS when I jumped up to 1280x960. So let me say thank you again!

It used to, but the fact it doesn't anymore doesn't change the fact its an opengl only control.

No broken scripts at all, no strange behaviors, no stutter, no complaints ... is there any reason why I should uninstall TESVAL if everything is working fine? Maybe the author could clear this up for us.... I mean, I know what the instructions say, but I am just curious to the logistics.

finally got round to doing some benchmarking on my slow 3 year old laptop (1.8ghz dual core Intel, Nvidia 8400M GT, 2Gb RAM and yes i already know its below min spec), tested in Markarth (Skyboost, the Ragged Flagon, Dragonsreach, only getting about 2 fps more with Skyboost, so there definitely is a difference, even though it's small (for now). I'm not clear whether Skyboost/TESVAL was supposed to help those with low hardware specs, and i'm not really expecting to get amazing quality/speed. i do like the idea of not upgrading till TES6 though ;)
