Skyrim Dead-is-Dead Thread V

Hi guys! I haven't been playing too much lately (CK + I was buried in snow a bit at my folks' place - no game, no internet).

Just a quick info, no journal now.

I never expected a turtle mage to be so fun! That shield helps a LOT when I get crowded! I use a lot of soups (feels a little bit like cheating - they give infinite bashing) but playing on Master is so tough (for me, of course).
I need to get into Alchemy a bit more in order to increase my Destruction damage output since I'm only using 1 hand for spells.

Oh, and I almost got chomped by one of those bigger Spiders that roam the countryside! Yay! Good times. 1 hit and it took almost all my health!

Heh, I'm deliberately not using the soups, for just that reason. I probably should be, though, because being unable to chain-stun a Forsworn dual-wielder leads to a world of pain at lower levels due to lack of output on my part. Almost got me killed at Kolskeggr Mine, too; I ran into the trio on the surface and got diced, and only made it out by stringing out the fight and forcing each one to a knee to give me a chance to cast a healing spell. Am looking forward to going back later, with much better gear, and forcefully reminding them that they, in fact, do not own The Reach anymore.

I'm (legitimately) sad to announce the death of Talia Sunsdottir.

Alas, one fine sunny day, just outside of Whiterun, she spied a small bandit fort. Smelling easy prey, she let the Beast Form take over her body. As she was sinking her claws into a bandit, a thunderous rumble behind her heralded a http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v680/ixoye/skyrimfebpicks-0011.jpg. What horrendous luck! I was going to announce a new character, Arenara Turelian (Female Imperial), but she ran out of health before the blasted Spriggan did and is now pushing up the daisies she was picking. Level 1.

Alright. I have someone.

Name: Dar-Marsh
Race: Argonian
Lives in: Solitude
Married: Yes. Dar-Marsh is married to Sneaks-in-Marshes (I think that his name >.> My TV screen is small)
Follower: Derkeethus.

Today, Dar-Marsh and Derkeethus were exploring the mountains near Winterhold and Windhelm to find near places. They've killed many Trolls and wild animals. They cleared a dungeon of Falmer and just cleared a Nordic Tomb. They are currently outside of this tomb, planning to leave to go to the next place they don't have on their map.

Bound and determined:

Name: Aethis Turelian
Race: Imperial
Difficulty: Adept

Going to try something along the lines of an Arena/Daggerfall Spellsword (Light Armor, heavy spellcasting). Got her to Level 4, through "Dragon Rising" and on her way to High Hrothgar. We'll see how long she lasts.

Yeah, I'm only using soups when going up against +3 enemies. People seem to think that cooking is useless in Skyrim, but I think the soups are pretty powerful because of that unlimited bashing thingy.

But I do so little damage on Master (focusing on Destruction AND in one hand only - gosh it levels slow!) so I have to go on the defensive side. And having that bash thing to be able to fall back is pretty useful.
And yes, those Forsworn are a nasty bunch! I'm staying away from them for now, I have a feeling they can pretty much one-shot me with those nasty swords.

Aethis has declared a one-woman war against the Thalmor. She and Lydia went through Northwatch Keep like a hot knife through butter and waltzed back out with Thorald in tow. After his little quest-related dialogue, he wandered over to the pile of bodies outside the door and said, "I'm going to find whoever did this." OK, Thorald, you do that.

Duiligael the Lightleaf (pronounced DWIH-leh-gail)

Breton Cleric, old with light eyes and white hair.

Expert

Mixes the arts of holy healing with the subtleties of alchemy to impede the fury of those who would kill him. Enchantments flow from his being. He is wise with words but can come to mace combat if necessary. Follows the sacred chapels of the Divines, and want's little part in the war. His role in the coming of dragons remains to be seen, but it is quite possible that he is no Dovahkiin. He can be seen walking across the lands healing the sick, giving counsel to the poor of wit, and gathering ingredients for his elixirs. A mace dangles from his lightly colored robes, and a grand staff is in his hand. He does not deal kindly with vile magic's, neither using them nor permitting their use by necromancers or hags; such sorcerers must be dealt with, first with words, then with deadly ice.

His coming to Skyrim is from deep sorrow. Once being a respected court councilman in his land of Highrock, Duiligael fled, away from his family and title, to Valenwood in his middle age after an affliction of Black-Heart Blight stole away the life of his his beloved stepdaughter. In the forest of the Bosmer, he lived as an anthropologist working amongst the deep woods tribes, writing notes for no one but himself, learning techniques for strong brews, chants for healing. (It must be noted that all the while he was too removed into the wilds to be under authority of the Thalmor). His time passed relatively peacefully, and the pain for his lost love healed. It was then, recognizing his aging body, he decided to return to Highrock simply to find out what things were like while he was gone. He crossed through the green woods of Cyrodiil and the chill of the Jerall mountains. Healing a group of soldiers of whom he know nothing, he was ambushed by an Imperial army. His future in Skyrim holds the story of his development of true healing talent...

Ended up restarting Swamp-Strider after doing some fine-tuning on my mods, and ran into a doozy of a glitch that has me seriously considering restarting again so as not to break the game into a million pieces.

NOTE: my mods are not the problem here, as none of the changes could possibly cause this to happen.

I picked up some enchanted items while wandering the roads, with the intent of disenchanting some of them for later use. I didn't bother checking their stats at the time so I don't know if the glitch was already in effect, but about an hour or so ago I looked at said items to see what I actually had, effect-wise, and discovered that the enchantment strengths had been increased by an order of magnitude (for example: what I know to be a +30 Fort 2H enchantment was reading +301). While really handy for raising money, this could be problematic when I enchant my gear as the results while wearing a crafting suit will be insane.

By the way, that +301 was the result of a test I did to see if custom stuff was also benefiting (it obviously is), and was done (I didn't actually make the thing) with a 17 Enchanting skill and only one rank of the base perk; I can only imagine what it will be with a crafting outfit, 5 ranks of the perk, and the perk to increase skill enchantments. Since I also smith my gear up high, I have a feeling that if I keep going I will end up with a weapon that's doing 6K per hit on a regular attack and capped armor with one piece; needless to say, that will make Master an utter joke, and that doesn't include the insane Fortify potions I'd be able to make.

I stopped play pretty much on the spot, since if I'm going to restart there's no point in going further; while I'm tempted to keep going, just to see how silly it gets, I'd basically be wasting the time spent since playing a character that broken would be rather boring. I'm leaning towards restarting, since I wouldn't really lose any progress, but I figured I'd see what you folks have to say on the matter first.

More from the mind of Brigid the Black:

What a rotten day. Nothing in Helgen but charred corpses. Two weeks on and still no sign of the Legion. Doesn't bode well for imperial might. Heheh.

Faen's grumpy too. Probably because of Camilla's reaction when we returned from the barrow. Oh she was appreciative enough. All 'my hero' this and 'how can I ever repay you' that. Problem is she was only talking to me. Barely even acknowledged Faendal's presence. I 'spose he really isn't much to look at, though. Tough break.

Then there's this damned ring stuck on my finger. After Helgen, I just wanted a mead and a warm hearth, so we headed for that smoke we saw rising over the hill. Seemed a promising becon. But then we strolled into that gloomy little town, Falkreath. Miserable place. Should've kept walking but that poor bastard's tale, what happened to his daughter, got me all riled up. Beast of a man. Literally ripped the girl to pieces and they've got him locked up? Hardly seems just recompense for his crime.
Figured I'd slip in and dish out some Brigid the Black justice.
(sigh...)
Take heed Brig:
Don't. Talk. To. Scum.
Kill 'em and move on.

'The ring made him do it'.
'Daedric curses' and all that.
Well, I've seen some strange things so I had to be sure. Had to take the ring and check it out. Now somehow it's on MY finger and won't budge. Did he play me for a fool? I'm not feeling very savage. Not changing into a child killing monster...
But I've come this far. I'll go a little farther. That prize beast I'm supposed to kill to get Hircine's attention should be around here, up in the mountains. And if there's any truth to his story then maybe he can't be held fully accountable for his actions. And if it's all a load of crap then I know where to find him...

Oh... What's that?

"Faen, hold up. Get down. Shh..."

Thalmor agents. Already engaged. Backs to us. Things are looking up.

"Faen, let's hit 'em from behind. Go!"

That was easy. But the scum on the overpass don't seem very thankful for our assistance. Still shooting... Common highway robbers?
These rocks give pretty good cover all the way up to their little road block. Too bad for them.

"Faen, bow! Cover me!"

Dodge left... Dart right... Shoot yer arrows as fast as ya can, ya can't hit me I'm a- Ouch! Shhhite!
Shield up. Straight at 'em girl. Go, go, go...

Well that wasn't a bad workout. Not legionnaires but hey, three dead Thalmor and a bandit road block cleared. Now if I can just find this Hircine and get rid of this ring I might be able to call it a good day.

"Let's go hunting, Faen"...

Here's a collection of journal entries I created for my DiD build not too long ago. (first time I've done this kind of thing)

During my playthrough I noted down pretty much everything that happened with the aim to put it into journal form. I've got a heap of notes of the events that have happened, but have only so far properly written up the first few days' worth of events - the rest is yet to come.

First, here's some stats and a bit of a backstory for my char (that I came up with pretty much out of nowhere):

Name: Wolfgang Reinhart
Gender: Male
Race: Nord
Born: 24th of Morning Star, 4E 170
Hometown/Birthplace: An old rural homestead, now known as Traitor's Post

Backstory: Wolfgang was born in Skyrim (see 'Hometown/Birthplace' above), before attempting to flee Skyrim with family at a young age due to the rising conflict between the Imperials and the emerging Stormcloaks (later leading to the game's Civil War).
Becoming separated from his parents whilst attempting to cross the border near Riften into Morrowind he was captured and taken to Cyrodiil.
Upon release, he spent the rest of his adolescence mostly alone, roaming the land to earn a living. Hunting and archery quickly became prominent survival skills. After many years, he began to find life in Cyrodiil had become mundane and memories of his homeland intruded more onto his mind.
After some thought, he came to the conclusion that it was time he return to Skyrim and become the grand adventurer he had dreamed of as a child, unravelling the mysteries of Skyrim's intriguing ancient past.

And now, the journal of Wolfgang Reinhart:

(Warning: Journal contains spoilers for early quests and events)

http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/5181/thejournalofwolfgangrei.jpg (Front Page)
http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/5181/thejournalofwolfgangrei.jpg
http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/5181/thejournalofwolfgangrei.jpg
http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/5181/thejournalofwolfgangrei.jpg
...
(will link to further pages in another post when complete)

NB: I came up with that backstory after I had written the journal, so there isn't really much reference to the past in the journal. (apologies for any inconsistenices :ermm: )

NBB: I started this build a couple of weeks before moving away from home for university (and didn't bring my 360 with me), so I only had limited time to progress with this character. Funnily enough, I came to an appropriate "end point" on the last day I played Skyrim before leaving, so it kinda all worked out. I might end up doing this RP journal thing some more when I can get some more Skyrimming time.

In the meantime, it'd be great to hear some feedback while I get the rest of it typed up.

This seems intresting. Ive just started my 4th (dont ask) crack at a vampire spellcaster build. With the other 3 fading out around lvl 20 due to bad perk choice. They were not D.I.D. This one will be. My first so go easy.

Name: Gangrel III
Race: Dunmer (vampire at level 1)
D.O.B: Late 3E
P.O.B: Morrowind
Difficulty: Expert

Gangrel is the son of a high ranking House Telvanni mage. His parents were killed in Morrowind by the uprising of invading argonians from Black Marsh in 4E 5,6. Thus stripped of his wealth and title, Gangrel fled the province, the eruption of Red Mountain fresh in his memory. For many years he hacked a living in the wilds, drifting into Cyrodil around 4E 30. Finding himself in Cheydinhal in 4E 40 however, was a defining year in his life. Caught up in the sacking of the city by Umbriel, it was during this time Gangrel became a vampire, attacked by a member of Umbriel's invading undead army.

For the next 160 years Gangrel wandered the night, feeding on those who crossed his path and learning to come to terms with what it means to be a vampire. Never dwelling in a single place to long, Gangrel began to grow angry at his dark existence and so decided to make plans to achieve power and bring revenge upon those he deems responsible for his suffering, the race of argonians. Like his father before him, Gangrel begins to study magic. Hearing of a remote college in Skyrim devoted to magical study without the diversions of politics, Gangrel sets out for Winterhold. Trouble brewing in the region, Gangrel reasons, will also aid in covering his feeding activities. However upon arriving in Skyrim, Gangrel stumbles upon and is attacked by two Vigilants of Stendarr. Though he felled them both, he was seriuosly injured and could not avoid dawn. As the sun rose he lost consciousness, waking hours later finding himself on a wooden cart, hands bound.

Next post will be his escape and up to where he is now.

Oh. As far as build goes, will be necromancer/illusion based. Backed up with alteration and alchemy. I always choose dumner when playing a vampire for the fire resists. Will be unarmoured (big risk i know) but my playstyle is very cautious. No game breaking mods of course, never use those anyway.

I did, in fact, end up restarting, and eventually tracked down and fixed the problem. It turned out I hadn't done a certain set of adjustments properly, so once I got that sorted the numbers were back where they should have been in the first place. Apparently, changing certain things is a bit more complex this time around.

I've been busy getting Swamp-Strider back to where he was before the problem cropped up, and am not quite there yet. Did some Destruction practice as well; keeping up the stun from Impact is proving to be a bit tricky thanks to charge times, and it's not helping that the AI can move sideways at Mach 2 just before the projectile gets there.

hi alll im new to the elderscrols series and skyrim was the first game i actualy played. i couldnt stand oblivion the constatly repairing my swords ordeal and the speech this choosing different options was to confusing and tiresome for me so im glad they Bethesda changed these for the better in skyrim... so anyways i was to say i love skyrim and dead is dead rules make it even more chalenging for me...id like to share my two characters i made and played on dead is dead rules on master dfificuly... i posted a comment on this topic awile ago informing you all that i had made a character that beat all 8 eight dragon priests and alduin twice on no death rules. iam here to inform you that he passed away...

Name - Prisoner
Race - Khajiit_
level - 50

heres how my seamingly indestrucable character died.> i was hunting for dragon scales trying to improve my light armor because i had just leveled up to 5/5 enchating .. only needing a few more scales to complete my new armor i desided to sell my currentlightarmor so make some quick coin make roomand to carry the scalesso i was wearing my back up heavy dragon armor which my follower was using at the time and i thought i could level up my heavy armor skill at the same time so i precceded to take her armor leaving my follower with her basic starting armor. Bad Mistake.! Upon reaching Ancients Accent in the Rift i came across an ancient dragon (my nemisis) i thought piece of cake ill call Odaving the dragon to assist me and ill just hide in the near by shack .. so there iam hiding in the middle shack waiting for odaving and my follower to beat the dragon while i hide in the hut lol ... well what does my follower do follow me into the hut gulp. so now the dragon has it sights set on both ofd us in this tiny wooden shack and she my follower has her basic armor on so shes not putng up much of a fight... but i still have odaving out thier distrating the dragon from me so their iam thinking well the dragon cant get to because im in a building right.....! Wrong ... what happend next was a blur... i think the ancient dragon turned his attention away from me in the shack to odaving but in doing so the dragons tail came through the shack i was in and basicaly one shoted me wiht his tail while i was still in the building.. please explain that to me bethesda ... how can the dragons tail hit me while im in the shack ... i could understand if the shacks were destructable but all the walls weres still intact after the dragons tail came though the wall and hit me......i was so choked...

My second Character who died as of today...

Name- Khajit
Race- Khajiit
Level - 80

hers how i started this character i proceeded to level his sneak to 100 right at the start of the game before you get your hands freeded i have the button held i place for about 4 hours it took to get to level 100 in stealth so i ended up starting th game at level 17.you could imagine my surprise when i came accros a frost troll on my way up to bleak falls barrow because i had leveled up so much the game was insainely hard... so anyways i ended up reaching level 45 on my own before i found the oghma infinum spoiler you can level up all your skils to 100 in about 10mins so idid this i was at level 80 after i accedentaly destroyed the book to much reapetative action caused me to lose some focus.. anyways i was doing a quest to repair the white phial and i only needed a brier heart so i proceeded to fast travel to rorikstead .. Oops little did i realize thata named dragonNahagliiv AND an Ancient Dragon were waiting for me yes you heard correct 2 dragons not just any old dragon But my nemisis the Ancient dragon who ended my no death character Prisoner.. So i thought i could run away but that doest solve any thing lol ill just conjur my dremora lord and hope my follower and the towns people can take these two dragons on while i sit and watch.. because usualy when fight dragons i have some cover to hide while i snipe them wiht arrows well i dont know if you know the town or rorikstead well but theres not much cover lol so needless to say i ran around like a chiken with itshead cut off trying to heal myself from the constant fly by frost attacks off the dragons... well that didnt go so well and i ended up dying from an dive bomb frost attack from both dragons simultaniuosly so i thought to my self if i could recreate this what would i do differently... so i proceed to load up my previous save and it took like 10 tries to recreate the two dragons attackin me because when i fast traveled only Nahagliiv was there and not the ancient dragon.. so i managed to get to back to where i had to fight both dragons at the same time Double or nothing i told mysef if i die a second time i will start a new character ... i eneded up filling both Nahagliiv and the ancient dargon wiht daedric arrows till they blead to death...

please bethesda i hope you release an skyrim expansion before dec 21 of this year so i can play it before the world as we know it changes dramaticaly

peace
