This is my first time doing this so bear with me...thx

He is a Nord who was left at the orphange in Riften when he was less than a month old. He was never given a name officially but his fellow orphanees (is that right?) called him Danith. After years of chores and intensive punishments he planned his escape from riften.

In the middle of the night him and the rest of the orphanees snuck out and were seen by the guards. instinctivly Danith screamed "RUN" and bolted for the lake where they had a boat in waiting. As they ran more and more guard crept out of the shadows nabbing kids to be taken back. As Danith ran down the dock it was him and the two year old child "Tommy" who he carried in his arms. He jumped into the boat and pushed off right as a guard came flying off the dock and into the water in an attempt to catch up. As he sailed off into the night he could hear the screams of his friends in the distance and vowed that he would save them one day. He then made his way north to Windhelm, where he took Tommy to the Inn and after purchasing a room left him their. Afterwards Danith made his way SW to exit skyrim in fear that he was being hunted down by the riften town guards.

Fast forward 8 years and Danith has decieded that he can make a life for himself in skyrim after a rocky start in Cyrodiil as a petty theif. At this point he has forgotten about his friends in the orphanage and is looking to be an adventurer and make his fortune.

To begin he has no intrest in magic and doesnt like shields and prefers dual daggers.
Being a thief he prefers light armour or none at all
He had heard about the thieves and Assasins guild and wishes to join it but doesnt know how
And lastly for whatever reason he favors the impreials even though he is a Nord and a Thief

Will try and keep this updated...(comments/ helpfull tips?)

After a hiatus due to travel and work, we be back.

I didn't announce him, but I started an Orc brawler, who had a grand old time up until level 9. Fists of steel only, http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v680/ixoye/skyrimfeb-0019.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v680/ixoye/skyrimfeb-0020.jpg. Until one day, head full of dreams of glory (and possibly a few bottles of mead), he picked a fight with a frost troll. Who http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v680/ixoye/skyrimfeb-0017.jpg Let's just say, http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v680/ixoye/skyrimfeb-0018.jpg

Back to Talia, the real deal (long read ahead. but with pictures!):

Having learned the direct correlation between blocking enemy attacks, an extending her lifespan, she knew she needed a better shield. Steel was fine most of the time (at level 9), but mages were dangerous foes still. After a http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v680/ixoye/skyrimfeb-0001.jpg, she hit the road with the sunrise the next morning. Only to walk straight into a frost troll. Young, relatively inexperienced, it was still quite a fight, but she managed to http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v680/ixoye/skyrimfeb-0002.jpg.

Continuing down the coastline, Talia swam across the narrow channel towards Solitude. A nice, if chilly, swim. Halfway across, she saw the oddest sight: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v680/ixoye/skyrimfeb-0003.jpg. Talia wanted to help, but alas, being unable to fight and swim, she was relegated to watching from the opposite shore. Gods know what became of the bedraggled cats.

Days later, she strolled into ... Whiterun? Clearly she'd made a wrong turn somewhere, as Markarth was her intended destination. Not to worry. A cup of mead, a fistfight with a brute named Ulfberth, or Umber, or something, and she was back on the road. Around sunset, a growl from the treeline gave way to a charging sabrecat. Not to be slowed down, Talia http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v680/ixoye/skyrimfeb-0004.jpg, and continued on her way.

She'd scarcely gone 5 more steps, when another roar came from behind her. Not just that, but the roar seemed to be coming from a beehive. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v680/ixoye/skyrimfeb-0005.jpg! Turning on her heel, Talia fled like a child from the sabrecat and it's glowing, green-barked master. She http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v680/ixoye/skyrimfeb-0006.jpg Between herself and the guards, they managed to put the Spriggan back in the ground.

Swearing the wooden harpies would be the death of her yet, Talia decided to return to Whiterun and ask if the rough-and-tumble woman she'd brawled with earlier would travel with her to Markarth. Better two blades than one.

Name: Swamp-Strider
Race: Argonian
Style: 2H+Destruction, with Heavy Armor

He's something of a savage sort, and his equipment will reflect that.

Little did he know...

Good stuff and good luck.

Glad you are on board. This type of play is very intense. The best advise I can give is play slow. Don't rush to your death. There are some helpful posts on tips on the previous pages.

Love the read and the visuals.

Thank you and it will be fine, just pricey. Ithink you are right about the CK and I will never forget.

On a side note...every time I quote your post ( and your's only), since your return, it displays some crazy characters in my reply screen. Like and things at the start and end of every line of text.

I'm thinking of starting a DiD character. I just get attached to my chars, oh well I'll have to svck it up.

When I started playing, in FONV, it was suggested one plays with a crazy and kind of an off-the-wall and zany type of character. one that you would not normally play and thus not grow as attached to. Although it is still suggested, it turns out to be exactly the opposite for me. I tend to grow even more attached to these characters. Which in turn, just makes me cringe at the thought of loosing them. Which just adds to the experience. Which is the whole point in the first place.

Actually, the reason I play like this is for that one moment, right before death or near death. It's that time that my heart is pounding out of my chest and the adrenalin is pouring from through my body. It is not about how far I get, as it is more about how I feel the whole time I'm playing. Those brief moments are more epically moving than "beating" a game.

Like watching a tragic movie and being moved when the main character dies. It's those mix of emotions that keeps me coming back with another character.

Seeing as my main character hasn't died yet, I figure I'll play him as DiD officially. Save me making another, lol

Ralen Draleth, Dunmer male
Swordsman (1H sword, boots/bracers only, no shield)
Skills are 1H, Block and Alteration.

Currently at Lv.6, on the road to Falkreath to offload some of the surplus crap he's picked up on his travels so far.

Ugh, I hated Dead is Dead playthroughs, I find I play too conservatively, only doing small, easy errands and staying away from the more exciting quests or even exploring.

Huh, that's pretty weird... I have no idea what could be causing that...tell me if it happens again and I'll PM a moderator to see if there's a problem on my end.

I have started a new DiD character.

After downloading the Extended Slider Colors. So I took a Dunmer, made her blue and decided she will be my RP Naiad (yes, yes not lore friendly, but I can be whatever I want to be right?)

Name: Ondine
Race: Naiad (Dunmer technically)
Born: Unknown
Skills: Illusion(boy I wish we could have a Charm spell that will get our enemies to fight for us), Destruction (for offence), Block ( I want a Turtle mage), Light Armor, Smithing. And on the side a bit of Enchanting and Alchemy. Yes, not very RP with my skills but I'll go for Master this time, so it's going to be pretty tough for me.

Ondine is a Naiad, a water nymph. When the King of the Naiads found out that a mortal man was on a quest to get a legendary shield hidden in the depths of the deepest river, he sent Ondine (his most trusted servant and daughter) to lure the man to a watery grave. But during her trials Ondine fell in love with him and revealed her plan. She thought he will strike her down but instead he showed her mercy and she even saw a hint of true love in his eyes.
She decided to help him get the shield.

But the terrible King found out and decided to take matters into his own hands.
With Ondine's help the mortal man managed to retrieve the shield but the other Naiads were upon them, the King at the vanguard. Ondine begged the man to flee, it would be the only way by which their quest and love would not be in vain.
But her fate was sealed. The King decided to banish her, making her mortal and cursing her to never find true love.

So she left the waters and headed for dry land. The inhabitants of Nirn mistook her for a Dunmer so she found her way into society.
She is on a quest to find the only man she ever loved and maybe break the curse. She carries a shield as a reminder of what she lost and maybe...what she will gain.

Her recent travels have brought her to Skyrim...

I'm surprised to see so many playing DID on Expert/Master. I have a question for you DID players.

I guess I'm what you'd call a "hardcoe" gamer. Most games I crank up to the highest difficulty without a second thought, and if it's an immersive game or an RPG I'll play DID. Skyrim is both, but it's also a Bethesda game, so I started at the default Adept setting... and so far I've yet to level a character past the low 20's. I've not even seen most of the main quest play out yet. Most of my characters die in the teens. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've tried playing as a stealth/combat mix, as a pure combat warrior, as a mage/combat mix, as an alchemist, a smith... I've tried everything! But in all cases it's the same story: smooth running until the mid-teen levels, then the difficulty suddenly ramps up massively and before long I find myself in a fight that's just plain unwinnable.

It doesn't seem to matter whether I stick to the main quest or not, at the mid/late teen levels things just get hard no matter where I am or what I'm doing. I'll lower the difficulty if that's what it takes (I'd rather lower the difficulty than resort to "exploits" like Vegetable Soup) but I can't help thinking I'm missing some aspect of this particular RPG system and making things harder for myself than they need to be. Any pro tips on how best to approach both the gameplay and the main quest (do it asap or leave it for a while)?

Haven't done anything all that exciting with Swamp-Strider yet, as I'm still working up his crafting skills so I can gear up before starting serious exploration. This decision was validated earlier today, when I got jumped by three Thugs as soon as I left the Riverwood general store and barely survived after managing to string them out along the road so I could take them on individually rather than all three at once. Fortunately I'd just made a bunch of Restore Magicka and Fortify Two-Handed potions, so I was able to heal between strikes while kiting a given opponent. Had they not been equipped with 2H weapons of their own it would have been a lot easier, since they would have hit me for less per strike and I could have actually blocked some of said strikes (2H Power attacks auto-break blocks).

It didn't help that I still have a fairly low (234 with three pieces of upped Orcish (my guy doesn't wear helmets)) armor rating and 2H skill, so was operating rather inefficiently, which made the fight harder than it really should have been. I was willing to risk it to get my economy rolling, though, since I had planned to use the money to buy training to bring the combat skills up to par ( I raised the limit on sessions allowed per level, both because I disagree with that decision of theirs and as a way to actually put said money to use). The wildlife haven't been pushovers either, and I almost got killed going against two Mudcrabs at once just outside Markarth (2H is not very good at blocking).

One thing's for sure: fights with this character will not be boring.

I thought about my future and decided that I must forget about my past, Yes I am a high born mage but no-one here seems to recognize me so I must forge myself a new identity. I still hate Bandits with a passion and will kill all and any I find but I will ask around to see if there are any bounties for them, a little gold will be good. With this in mind I take the carriage back to Whiterun and the landlady of the local inn gave me a note telling me of a bandit leader.. so I went there and first needed to kill a couple of bandits , supposedly guarding the camp, was easy to sneak up and burn them fast then slowly made my way into the camp and had no problem finding and killing their leader. back at The dragonreach I collected the bounty, the court wizard is still bleating on about the barrow.. and tells me the Jarl is not a patient man.. tough ! I am not sure if I want to risk an early death at the hands of a bunch of undead horrors. Back at the Inn and after a good nights supper and bed The Innkeeper gives me another bounty, this time in a mine, so I went there, the bandits outside were dead.. and a giant stood close so I waited until he wandered off and looked for the mine entrance. Once inside I crept and took out a mage who was sleeping and then the leader and another bandit, looted anything of value including a well filled chest and walked back to Whiterun picking herbs along the way. I saw the giant but avoided contact with him. While walking I passed a farm and stopped to talk to the farmer who told me about a jester transporting his mothers body for burial. I suggested that the farmer should help.. could not see the reason why not to help someone in need, anyway I have a soft spot for jesters they remind me of my childhood.
I collected my bounty and after a good supper am now in my rented room at the inn about to sleep for what is left of the night.

A brief update on Rommel...

After doing several profitable jobs for the Thieves Guild, he was able to buy a cozy little house is Whiterun with a nice lump of change left over.
Despite Lydia the Drunk being ever present in his bed chamber, the house felt empty and Rommel's thoughts often returned to that fiery mare Camilla back in Riverside.
He decided it was time to put her in her place, slaving away over his firepit.
The two were married in Riften shortly after. And now, with a new house, new wife and a nice pile of coin, Rommel is going to take it easy for a while and enjoy his drink and his women...
(retiring him temporarily as he is too similar to my main non-DiD character and I'd like to try something new...)

And so, let me introduce Brigid the Black. A young Nord lass that, until recently, didn't give a skeever ars' one way or the other about the empire or rebellion.
She spent her time studying alchemy and working in an alchemy shop.
However, the empire gained a new enemy when they indiscriminately tossed Brigid, who was simply gathering herbs for her potions, into a cart full of insurgents bound for Helgen's chopping block...

I'm planning to play her not so much as a sneak thief but more Viking raider axe and shield with sneak secondary.
Once again, I'll start on expert...
Wish 'er luck!

Name: Brigid the Black
six: F
Specialties: Hack n bash (axe and shield), alchemy and a bit o'sneaking...

My first DiD character is an Orc Warrior named Agronak gro-Garrus

His "father" was a Legion Captain who rescued the 10 year old Orc from some bandits. He was raised by Imperials, and has a lot of love for them. He wears Heavy Mail like his father, wields a shield like his father, but uses the ancestral weapon of his people, the axe. He's quite the talented smith as well, but he stops at learning to forge his people's armor. Adept difficulty (I usually play novice...). Has been known to wield two axes when the berserker bloodlust clouds his mind\

EDIT:
Came north to fight Stormcloaks. Oh the irony!

Kick ass.

Currently at Lv.10, he's found the shortcut through the mountains from Helgen to Ivarstead and is currently resting up at the Bee&Barb in Riften.

Guns? In skyrim? Well I guess blackpowder is logical through Alchemy. It was how the Chinese discovered it. Plus, it is YOUR game. If that is what you want to do then I support anyone having a good time. It is way we play in the first place. Rock and Roll!!!!

I'm surprised to see so many playing DID on Expert/Master.

Any pro tips on how best to approach both the gameplay and the main quest (do it asap or leave it for a while)?

Glad to have you among us. There is no shame in lowering the difficulty. Or knowing when to just run, for that matter. Best tip...Sloooooow and calculated. As far as the MQ, I have yet to advance very far. That is by personal choice. I just get far enough to start the Dragons.

Haven't done anything all that exciting with Swamp-Strider yet, as I'm still working up his crafting skills so I can gear up before starting serious exploration. Those type of chars are far from boring. As with most, this type of gameplay forces a strategic outlook. One I'm sure you handle well. Wish you continued success with SS.
