Skyrim DLC Discussion [may contain spoilers]

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 9:03 am

My last 2 dlc ideas were met with extreme criticism, hopefully this one would be better.

The Dark Gamble - Maven Black Briair seeks to expand her territory beyond the rift and has created her personel thug army called the black briair legion. The Forsworn has rallied together and are stronger than ever, they hope to take back the entire reach once and for all. As the dragonborn, you should help them accomplish their quest or eradicate them.

Prince of Damnation - Molag Bal's Avatar has been summoned and his goal is to cause suffering and pain. Molag bal has created a demon dragon even stronger than Alduin and has unleashed this abomination to cause terror in skyrim. This beast do fly-bys in random locations and you also get the shout of evil once you slay this monster. Molag Bal has more plans for you however, he has summoned you into one of his sub realms and you are forced to fight one of his daedra servant called The Soul Destroyer. This would be the toughest fight you'll ever have and you would need to use all your abilities to their full potential in order to even have a chance of winning. After the battle, the avatar of Molag Bal grants you The Claw of Bal, the strongest melee weapon in the game with hax enchantments.

Outlaw Uprising - One of the Greybeards has been kidnapped by a criminal organization called The Lords of Power. They are trying to force the greybeard into teaching them the ancient shouts by torturing him. You must rescus this greybeard and fight the gang's leader, known as the Power Stealer. These guys including their leader are no joke, they had been stealing powers from powerful people for years.

1. Maybe
2. Maybe but without the evil dragon, use like a incarnation of Molag Bal
3. COme up with better names and a reason why the simple thugs were able to capture the greybeards

Not bad, except for the thug army part. Thugs are goons with drool dribbling down their chins, misspelled tattoos, and don't have a greater cause like the Forsworn do. Both parties need some new motivation to do things differently than they have been doing. Perhaps the Forsworn king has found a powerful artifact. Perhaps Maven Black Briar wants a monopoly on silver and wants to take down the Silverbloods. And what stake some slobbering Riften thugs have in becoming a legion of all things needs to be addressed.

After the battle, the avatar of Molag Bal grants you The Claw of Bal, the strongest melee weapon in the game with hax enchantments.
Better than the first, but Molag Bal's goal is already about suffering and pain. Lose the demon dragon. Whenever some Daedric Prince gets one up over everyone there is an imbalance. Other Daedric Princes should be involved in such a way that they don't like what he is doing because it interferes with whatever current plans they've got going, and they offer to reward you if you sabotage him. And instead of the Claw of Bal, how about an upgrade to the Mace of Molag Bal?

Outlaw Uprising - One of the Greybeards has been kidnapped by a criminal organization called The Lords of Power. They are trying to force the greybeard into teaching them the ancient shouts by torturing him. You must rescus this greybeard and fight the gang's leader, known as the Power Stealer. These guys including their leader are no joke, they had been stealing powers from powerful people for years.
Outlaw Uprising, Lords of Power, Power Stealer: These are all terrible titles. A greybeard can kill with his voice, how was he kidnapped? What kind of powers does Power Stealer steal from powerful people? Their charisma and leadership qualities? Does he usurp their roles, kind of how Richie Rich can fill in as CEO while his dad is gone? Needs more time to think clearly on what Power Stealer actually does and why he's doing it.

Yeah. I guess I have to admire your persistence and enthusiasm but...

1. I'd be up for a Forsworn faction. As for the Black-Briar Legion, first of all it's a terrible name. Second of all, a detachment of real legionnaires or a dozen veteran Stormcloaks would destroy the rift raft. Maven Black Briar and people like her have power with bribery and subterfuge, the minute they risk a pitched battle is the when they lose everything.

2. Another dragon is a bad idea. And something called 'The Soul Destroyer' is even worse. I've personally had my fill of Daedra since Oblivion, but there might be some good ideas to be had with a Daedra themed DLC, we'll see. Unfortunately, this idea is not really a good idea.

3. Oh my gosh, come on. 'The Lords of Power'? You've been watching too much anime. And the above poster was right, there's no way a few thugs could actually kidnap a Grey Beard. Maybe if the 'Power Stealer' had a 1/10th of a decent name, and maybe if he was a Dragonborn himself then it might be interesting to see the conflict of Dovahkiin vs Dovahkiin. Still not an idea I'd really be for, but just trying to help you out.

Again, I applaud your perseverance in the face of what you admit is 'extreme' criticism, but your ideas just really aren't that good. I'm sorry.

I like the Daedra idea, just without the dragon, the soul destroyer, could be some new kind of Atronach?
Giant and black with red lighting perhaps, just something that looks evil.

Not a fan of the greybeards idea, as mentioned, who would be able to steal just one greybeard with the others there? n' surely Paarthurnaax would have something to do about it?

They're not as bad as the last two but they're still pretty terrible.

1: Why would Maven assemble an army of thugs and give them a cheesy name? Also why would she want to take back the Reach? The Reach is Silver-Blood territory and she would have absolutely no reason to expand into the Reach, her business relies on Mead, not ore and the Reach isn't exactly a great place for a meadery.

2: This might be somewhat interesting if there weren't any "Soul Destroyers" or Demonic Dragons or over powered weapons, please be more creative and original.

3: Well this entire idea is just awful! A Greybeard some how gets kidnapped by a gang of bandits that take powers from people? Just the very idea killed a third of my brain cells, we are talking about a master of the way of the voice and he is kidnapped right from the Temple where 3 even more powerful monks reside, the bandits' chances are incredably slim.

You could combine the first 2 ideas, a daedric prince has kidnapped a greybeard and plans to use him for his own purposes, you as dovahkiin, have to stop him with paarthunax fighting at your side.

The Fire Rats
A powerful group of high elf pyromancers calling themselves Fire Rats has mastered the art of pure fire and has destroyed multiple villages, leaving behind strange fire runes. As the dragonborn you must seek help from the blades in order to track down these maniacs before they cost more destruction. The dragonborn and the blade agent enters their hideout but it is deserted and it was really just a trap. The whole cave blows up and the dragonborn survives only because he/she used the ethereal shout during the last second. The dragonborn soon learns that the fire rats has already casted pure fire runes in every major city and has begin the chanting to activate the runes. Once the chanting is completed, all major cities would be destroyed. The dragonborn finds the chanting trios and kills them before the spell is activated, saving skyrim. The leader of the fire rats calling himself the Master of Pure Fire shows up and tells you that he would blow up the cities himself, the runes were just a faster and easier way. You must kill him and stop him right here or else all is lost. The Master of Pure Fire would be the strongest enemy you'll ever fight.

Wood Stalkers
The Jarl of Riften has lost over 3 patrols in the newly discovered forest to the east and the jarl wants vengeance on whoever killed the patrols. She has hired you and 2 other powerful agents named Wood Chuck and Alex. All three of you would split up and go in from different directions. After exploring the forest for a bit, you are ambushed by strange mutated werewolves, you defeated them but another larger group appears and not even your dragonborn powers are enough to save you this time but alex appears next to you and shocks them all to death, saving you. He then tells you to be more careful before teleporting away. After reaching a small hill, you find wood chuck standing over alex's dead body, he turns to you and laughs saying he was the one that lured the patrols to their doom. Wood Chuck than transforms into a werewolf revealing his true name, the Bait and attacks you. After you killed the Bait, you are ambushed by Werewolf Prime, the leader of the werewolves in this forest. After you killed him, you turn around but prime gets back up and mutates into a bigger form with more eyes and claws. You soon find out that it is impossible to kill this thing but than you spotted a silver sword next to the dead body of alex, grabbing the sword and doing one last stab at mutated prime, you finally killed it for good.

I'm not sure I understand the part in the first where it mentions the Dragonborn using ethereal shout at the last second; how are you going to know to do that?

The way you present these makes them sound more like a cinematic than any kind of DLC. Too scripted, Skyrim isn't the kind of linear game that would allow stuff like this.

Your ideas, and especially your names are as bad as usual.

A bit rude, don't you think?

Yeah. But I'm tired of seeing his ideas, this is like the fifth or sixth thread and everyone thinks they're bad so at some point it's like, 'come on bro...'

nothing with blades cuz as long as i dont kill parthnuaxx they wont help me, and if dlc requires parthunaxx dead, guess who wont be downloading dlc?

and fire rats is an... odd name... rats isnt something people hold highly and... well i can assume youve talked to a high elf before, they're pretty arrogant... to call themselves anything involving rats...

what does a mutated werewolf look like? or is he mutated to look like a werewolf?

and uhm... id die without the help of a normal human, seems... odd?

then woodchuck, first off not a fan of the name, second off he has more claws? like he has four arms, or does he have claws coming out of his claws or more hands coming out of his wrists or... wut? then also, having to use a silver sword to kill a werewolf, while it makes sense that it's their weakness, i dont feel like having to change weapons to do something has been something popular, in fact i dont recall that happening in skyrim yet...

Oh dear, another bad DLC suggestion thread, you don't give up do ya'?

Please go on to the UESP, read up all TES lore and see if you can come up with something a little less crappy, or are you just trolling?

If you don't mind, what I don't like about these ideas is that they sound far too linear. The events follow up and create a tight plot which makes me feel like I'm watching a movie. And not a very good one at that.
I just can't see this as a part of a RPG, but that's just my two cents.

A "newly discovered forest" was just about where I gave up...

Dude, I like the fact you're creating stories and what not, but these aren't good DLC suggestions. For one, they're so detailed that it's not like Beth are going to read them and go "dang, yes! We'll do that!" And as that's the case, this is really fan fiction rather than a DLC idea.

Bad ideas mostly, you are committed to posting them though ha. Can I suggest just one thread with all the ideas on?

Or as someone said, probably trolling.

This is just too funny.
You come up with the funniest video links that always make me laugh.
On topic though, I do not like the 1st and 3rd idea, but the second one is okay without the dragon, I hate dragons as it is. I would like a DLC that involves a Daedric Prince, preferably Hircine and his Hunting Grounds, but I wouldn't mind Molag Bal though if it involves vampires since I feel they got undermined.
