Skyrim DLC wishlist

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 2:54 pm

Well being careful to suggest something that wasn't in Game Jam (IE Spears) or being developed as a mod already (IE player led civil war faction)....

More types of dragons.

And no, I know what you're going to say...http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=3829. But no, this is not what i'm talking about. I'm not just talking about dragons with different skins and/or different attacks. Nono. I'm talking about different SPECIES of dragons.

http://images.wikia.com/metroid/images/5/50/Ridley_zerom.jpg/http://www.draconika.com/img/red-dragon.jpg dragons, http://www.quiztron.com/quiz_images/full_153991716.jpg, http://mythologyandlegends.webs.com/photos/Mythological/Chinese_Dragon2.jpg, http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs19/f/2007/273/6/d/Neo_vs_Three_Headed_Dragon_by_XUnlimited.png (These would be ESPECIALLY badass, imagine 3 or more heads throwing shouts at you at once!!), That sort of thing. Actual VARIATIONS of dragons instead of just the wyvern-variety dragons we have now.

That would not only add to the game somewhat, but it would open up quite a few possibilities for modding.

I don't think DLC should take place in a new province, leave TESVI for that, maybe a small section of a provice, or a daedric relm like Shivering Isles, but not an entire province, that's too big to cover in a 15 dollar dlc.

New weaponry is just overall a bad idea. One, because high fantasy traditionally does not progress after the medeval age, two, because you can't really go backwards. I mean, if dlc introduced basic guns, they would have to have guns in all futre TES games, which could break the feel of the series altogether. Also, technology is progessing faster today than it did in the past. The world will look very different from when I was born to when I will die, but that was not true 2000 years ago.

You do know the Elder Scrolls takes place in a different universe, therefore your last paragraph literally means nothing with the exception to the guns.

1. Theoretically, they could go backwards in technology, but they would have to provide a really good reason (just saying 'by magic' isn't good enough for me), and coming up with a really good reason for something like that is really hard to pull off more than once (which they already used for the Dwemer), and would eventually feel like a cheap copout.

2. Again, theoretically, they could progess even faster than us, saying by next year they can achieve space flight (although, this would permanatly break the feel of the entire series, as stated with guns.) However, while society does progress over time, I am saying that it doesn't break immersion if Tamriel rarely progresses because the rate of technological progression is a lot slower back then than today (5000 years ago looks a lot like 4300 years ago.) This is something that I think many people forget when they talk about Tamriel getting more tehcnologically advanced. Again, while they could progress in technology, there is a perfectly good explination as to why they seem to progress so slowly even without delving into an obscure part of the lore.

3. High fantasy is, by definition, a fictional universe, and in general, they do not tend to progress in technology. Because Skyrim is fairly standard high fantasy, it would make sense for them not to progress.

Magic is there for a reason. Do you know why those smarty-pants Dwemer folk disappeared? Most likely because a deity (probably a Daedra) didn't like that they were advancing in technology so much. The gods will always limit how much the mortals can achieve.

Personally, I would like to see a patch/dlc to where me and 3-4 friends can adventure together in a private match. I can't be the only one here who wants this.

why not tattoos or custom warpaint that you can redo or hair? your telling me that mohawk doesn't grow out? maybe a progressive hair growth system then get it cut or something... seems silly you go months and no hair growth... i know these are small silly things to some but it think its silly its not in the game...

I wish there was an option for the Dragonborn to take part in the actual governing of Skyrim or a faction within Skyrim. You really don't DO anything after any faction. You don't manage the Guilds. I'd really love to see the Blades making a claim to power in Skyrim. Perhaps you can refuse to kill Paarthurnax and replace Delphine and Esbern/persuade them.

you mean like the dragonborn rebellion mod that sky's making?

That's kinda why I wanted to avoid mentioning anything on this wishlist that modders are already at work making.

Rather than new land I'd prefer to see more of everything. Meatier factions plus other joinable factions (Vos, Silver Hand, etc.), more armour, weapons, and spells to choose from, more animations for NPCs and NPC dialogue, more perks, monsters, ... you get the idea. Skyrim is already big enough so I feel extra land is unnecessary (though it would be nice if it had vastly different envrionments) but the game would definitely benefit from more depth and choices for our good and evil (and inbetween) characters.

I'd like things to further enhance the existing world of Skyrim before they start doing new lands. I'd like a questline that ties into the main quest to drive the Thalmore out of Skyrim. I'd like more monsters, armour and weapons. But most of all I'd like to see a great deal more work go into the faction questlines.

And some sort of enhanced difficulty mode, that limits how you heal yourself, like possibly a cool down period on potions, or your character has to stop fighting and actually take a drink like in Dark Souls (the only thing I like from that game). I'd love that. And obviously no auto health regen.

One DLC for each region... released about six months apart. Complete access to the entire continent by 2016.

With the current combat and magic systems aswell as the crafting issues and lack of new weapons and armor. I think this would be cool but it should be in TES VI.

I hate not being able to name potions and create spells. I also dislike that they haven't brought back spears, crossbows, thrown weapons. They should also bring back unlock spells and bash lock for warriors so each class has a means of getting into chests.

I want an EXPANSION PACK about a REALLY big dungeon, like 3 times bigger than Mehrunes razor one (forgot the name)
with a big clearing like blackreach, that would be cool!
Also: it should include a lot of new armor, weapons, mobs and a not-so-cliche art style and non-static structures (as seen on gamejam vid))

- Spears, Riding dragons (and everything I saw in the jam vid!)

- Crossbows (The game is set 500 years or more from Morrowind, morrowind had crossbows and Skyrim doesn't? it feels like a step back in technology, it would be great if the guards carried them)

- Just 1! healing spell that works by tapping the button. Because the fast healing spell is slow

- More armor and weapons

- More unusual creatures and less of the real life ones (goats, cows, antelope are great but there should also be alot of elder scrolls specific ones you won't see anywhere else)

- And finally above all else, Back to morrowind expansion!! I want to see what it is like there in HD (when I say morrowind I mean of course Vvardefell, and how the mountain erruption has ruined the place. I know anyone who's played morrowind and enjoyed it will want the same.
Would be great to revisit all those old places, that still remain and see all those old creatures/weapons and armor.

Something i would like to see in an expansion is a new race or races with an invasion storyline seeking a relic of power long lost or stolen from them. (as an idea) However they may be introduced in a main quest plot can be limitless. I was thinking something along the lines of an entire other land added beyond the bounds of skyrims mountain borders in one direction or another, where the race resides. I would like to see a land similar to shangra la, a hot humid jungle climate. I would make this race a massive presence, something that would tower over the treetops and crush objects as they pass, akin to a boss difficulty.(when i imagine what they may look like, first thing that comes to mind is the cave troll from "lotr", but bigger)(to add to this note, a sub race that serves this one, more humanoid sized, would be ideal to bridge the gap between communicating or the introductory of the invasion as their emissary etc) I dont know about the rest of you, but when i first started playing skyrim and i came across my first giant wandering on a dirt road, my excitement and curiosity were peaked and it drove me to search for bigger and badder as i progressed. As well, on a side note; id like to see a thrall spell that allows for the more powerful npc's, not limited to humans only. Comandeered dwemer steam machines comes to mind when i think of how to combat such behemoths. Commissioned by all the jarls of skyrim and created by the last remaining decendants of the dwemer themselves. (another possible dlc to ressurect the dwarven folk from their mythical but very present presence.) okay im done sputtering random ideas. Probably far past being heard if the dlc is already in progress and ideas formed, but oh well.

(REPOST FROM OTHER THREAD)

I would like to see some stuff from the game jam as well as new armor/weapons/spells, and some expansive questlines. I would like to see my choices have greater impact upon the world. Below is just a list of some things they should add to the game.

- Higher level dragons: I want more unique dragons and higher level dragons that can be a challenge even at level 81
- Better looking weapons
- More practical weapons: Many enemies should use steel weapons, and weapons that are normally used should look like somebody made them to fight with, not to look at. IMO the steel weapons look bad, because it looks like somebody spent time adding special designs to them. When people still used swords to kill each other, they didn't make the generic soldiers swords/daggers/etc. look detailed, because they were made to kill other people. ALSO, the jarls should each have a special named sword, not necesserily enchanted, but just with a completely unique look (not just a recolor like chillrend).
- A "paper" map: I think the "Quality World Map - With Roads" mod is amazing, and although the 3D map is cool looking i still prefer the paper look. It makes it feel more authentic to me, and it helps with immersion. Also, it shows ROADS!!
- Bucklers: just think smaller shields that look different. They dont block as much damage or hurt as much when doing a shield bash, but they also dont weigh alot.
- More variety with animals: I want to see different kinds of bears, wolves, birds, rabbits, and every other animal imaginable. Also, why are there no cats in Skyrim (or any elder scrolls game that i know of)?
- Sounds of nature: I dont want to just hear that annoying buzzing sound when im near a spriggan, I want to hear birds, frogs, etc.
- Nicer Animals: Why do animals attack you on sight? Animals should definitely defend their territory, but do they have to chase you for miles?
- Nicer Giants: What is it with giants? I remember the first time i saw a giant, it tried to kill me. This is NOTHING like the giants in the early skyrim gameplay I saw, where they would just walk beside you.
- Fletching: You should be able to make your own arrows and bows.
- Bows: There should be a bunch of wooden bows, because metal bows make no sense. Although people did actually make metal bows before, they couldn't beat wooden bows in terms of damage and range, they just beat them because, if properly greased, they were alot more durable. With durability taken out of the game, however, metal bows serve no function whatsoever.
- Different types of wood (if wooden bows replace metal ones): Not like in runescape where you would cut down every tree, just at different chopping blocks.
- DAGOTH UR'S MASK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!: Strong enchanted mask that should be even better than the dragon priest masks
- Fight Konharik

Finally we should get expansion packs instead of DLC. These should be sold online and in stores, and should contain alot of extra content. For example, on expansion pack might take us back to morrowind, where we can explor all of morrowind, join new factions including the morag tong, and access a bunch of extra side quests, as opposed to the general linearity of DLC (do this mission, get weapons/armor/spells, etc.)

EDIT: I forgot to add, everyone should be killable. If this disrupts an entire quest line, then so be it.

EDIT2: Also, animals should be less strong. A couple bears shouldn't be able to kill a dragon. Also, you should be able to kill a single bear alot easier than a dragon. Finally, have dragons more focused. I hate it when im trying to kill a dragon, but it runs away to chase some giants after a few seconds (and since dragons are weak, the giants easily kill it). I remember in the early skyrim gameplay video, I saw a dragon pick up a giant and drop it (obvisouly killing it). I also never see dragons fighting each other.

As I said last thread: More species of dragon

And no, not just recolors/rehashes of the same dragons. But actual new SPECIES of dragon. Like Multi-headed dragons, 4 legged dragons (True dragons, the ones in skyrim are all Wyverns or Wyrms technically), upright standing dragons, Shape shifting dragons, Chineese dragons, Ocean dragons, that sort of thing.

Expanded or more defined lore on souls, I need to know if enchantments are a form of soul torture or not. I took M'Aiq's advice on thinking about soul trapping.

Then again, asking for ANYTHING concrete or in plain terms in TES lore is a lost cause.

More dragons is never a bad thing. Also, one thing on your comment on true dragons. In TES, Bethesda deicide what is a dragon and what is not. They could call anything a dragon, and guess what? It would be a dragon. Its their universe.
