SKYRIM IN HDMI!

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 12:52 pm

HOLY %&#(!!! I just got a new TV ( I play on PS3) and before that, I was using a computer monitor. Yesterday I got an HDMI LED TV with 1080p and WOW!!! I can't belive the difference. It was like a whole new game to me. So much detail I have missed out on. Thought it was great before but now phenominal!!!

Welcome to the 21st century.

i don't use the 7.1 as the kids are sleeping.

but yeah, 55" and a CMOY amp and some good Sennheiser HD280.

I turn the music off and now when a dragon swoops down on me I damn near [censored] myself...

Good headphones are almost as good, but they hurt my ears after a few hours. I've got a set of Tritton AX pro headphones for when we have houseguests so I can play after they go to sleep. They have four speakers in each ear for true 5.1 in a headphone. I like to hear where things are in the game, espically since I have the HUD off most of the time.

LOL @ anyone who thinks HDTV is just a "fad" to get people to buy new, expensive TVs.\
HD hasn't been a fad for a few years. It's pretty much standard now.

I would never trade in my headphones. They are awesome.

Holographic 3D TV.

Naw.

Here in a couple of years they'll start rolling out the 4K HD TV's, and then [censored] gets real. :D

Really, how often do any of you pay attention to the chirping birds?

You mean... birds actually chirp!?

Imagine a world where you can rent movie theater rooms and play Skyrim on that huge screen. Mindfreak.

That would be rather cool. I know where I'd be spending most of my time.

What kind of crappy monitor were you using to play Skyrim? Personally using a good 24" monitor that displays 1920x1200. That meaning 1200 is over 1080. Its colour calibrated as I also use this monitor to colour correct film footage. Add to that the high res texture pack. Played on a decent TV, and also got a manager of a local electricals store who loves TES too hook Skyrim up to the top range TV there, just doesnt seem as sharp or colourful. As someone mentioned earlier, TV's normally display in 720, even when they advertise 1080p, it just means it can display it, not that it is actually showing the full 1080p. In fact majority of TV is still displayed interlaced. So again, what monitor were you using?

Also with headphones, dont buy by fad, for example Skullcandy or Dre beats. They are cheap produced then marketed as high end. Get Sennheiser, or BOSE, or Sony MDR's, you get what you pay for. I have some Sennheisser hd595 cans and I can wear them hours on end. Not to mention the sound is incredible. Sound cards are also fantastic. Try before you buy if possible.

I play on a PS3 so that limited me as far as sound cards. I use the Sony Surround sound headphones and they are awesome. I hear eveyrthing including birds chirping. I do listen to them.

I hope we see an advancement in TV resolution in the next few years, we have been at 1920x1080 for a while now, while computer monitors can be much higher resolution. I personally like having 5760x1080.
Dude is that like a horizontal 2X4 board? Joking, but my moniter I'm using is 1440x900. I always thought that sounded weird. My computer svcks though and it takes a while to load high res images.

Speaking of TV quality though, I watched my first blueray movie (Tron Legacy) a few months ago, and the difference between the blueray and dvd quality was freaking MONUMENTAL. I had to adjust my eyes at first. Now I want to see what The Hobit looks like on blueray, since its shot at like 48 FPS.

HDTV was never a fad. I agree that 3D is sort of a fad. More like a niche product that will never go mainstream, and which is being crammed down our throats by all the manufacturers' marketing depts.

Heh. I backed out of what I posted about it before, since it didn't work the way I expected. But yeah, that's the link to your image at least.

Thanks. I know that they are differnt places and the lighting in Riften gives off a brighter blue but you can see the difference.

I actually don't know what Skyrim looks like on an SDTV, since I made sure to get an HDTV the week before Skyrim came out, along with Sony's official Wireless 7.1 Surround Sound Stereo headset for the PS3, and was hooked up with a free HDMI cable from GameStop, all just for this game. However, I remember my reaction being quite similar to yours when I got my new TV and popped in Battlefield 3. There is a HUUUGE difference, and I just can't see myself going back to standard definition.

Those headphones are great. How did you score the free cable. I spent $30 on mine.

I'm a PowerUp member, and they had a coupon online for a free cable, and I had just enough points to get it, so I jumped all over it.

Ahhh, I spent all my points on a $25 off any purchase. Used it to lower the hit on the Skyrim Collector's Edition :stare:

I had a similar feeling when I upgraded from my old 17" 1280x1024 monitor to a new 23" 1920x1080 monitor. What a difference!

Skyrim is mean, every modern game does not seem to be designed for my TV>

'Hey who has a TV that was made before 2010?' Random Bethesda person

'Uuuh, no one! Lets make the text unreadable and the resolution streachy' Todd Howard

That is my only issue. But it's all modern games that do this on my TV. Thankfully my laptop can just about run Skyrim... just. 20fps constantly on all low settings and it can CTD or make my laptop explode.

I am curious... Is it true 1080p, or is it fake upscaled 1080p?

Console versions run in 1280x720 progressive with an upscaled 1920x1080 chip. Or that I was told anyway ^_^ I'm sure someone could correct me if I'm wrong

I just upgraded my TV this past weekend. Until then, I was running my PS3 on an old 19" tube TV I've had since the early '90s. Now I'm staring at a nice 24" 1080p HD-TV and...just wow. After 134 hours of play on my main Dunmer character, I only just found out that he has scars on his face. I thought Skyrim was beautiful before, but now it's absolutely gorgeous. And, I can finally read the in-game books without having to look them up on a wiki. :P
