Skyrim needed more time

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 7:56 am

we all saw what they did in one week with the game jam vid.
I doubt that was one week's work... it just sounded cool to say it was.

Imagine what skyrim could have been if it had lets say an extra year to be tested and more features added in...the game is just good..it could of been amazing if Bethesda would of just took the extra year to polish this game and fix some bugs...who else agrees with me

Ok let's say they waited about a year longer. Now the new Xbox and the new ps is just around the corner. If they don't wait for those and use that technology people will complain. So let's wait another year. What do you know, a brand new game engine is developed during that year. Ok, we gotta use that one ecause it's better, so let's wait another year..... Do you see a pattern?

There is no game who wouldn't benefit from another year in development.

Well yeah sure, but you have to be practical. They made it to make money, and it's done that. There's no point in them making it any better than it has to be to make an ass load of cash.

Well, they have actually done that in my opinion.

Meh, for me most of Skyrim's shortcomings are due to design direction. I don't think an extra year would have resulted in a significantly better game...

Nah just more significant bugs and fascinating lies from their oh so revered Director.

I can't agree although I know the game would have been much better. I hate delays more than anything in this industry, they consume my joy. When a studio presents a set date like 11.11.11 I'd be very disappointed to hear it's been delayed regardless the objective reasons, I had a whole year to build my expectations, to save money for a video card and a cpu. Luckily Bethesda is patching their game quite nicely so far, and the DLCs will keep adding some content that had to be left out.

You can now play it on a little pink 3DS thingy... it's AWESOME! Been a while for me though

I'm amazed by the amount of bitterness and hatred you managed to pack in to those 14 words.

It was forgivable with Oblivion. Then 6 years of our lives passed, and now it's unforgivable.

I honestly don't even care about bugs upon release (cept to be honest, the horrible PC UI compatibility was pretty inexcusable. Nevertheless...), bugs can be patched with time.

The storyline, the plot and the NPCs though? I've never known a game to patch those and make them better, thus, we're probably stuck with the NPCs we have now. If Skyrim had simply taken more time...

They didn't have an extra year, the next gen consoles will be coming out soon and that would have destroyed their sales.

I couldn't have waited for another year!
Besides, even if they had, people would have found some more flaws and used them to declare Skyrim the worst game ever.

Another year would have been too much for me. I'd rather they stick to the release date, then patch the game, then the year is used to build some shivering isleish expansion.

Every single game ever made would of benefited from more development time. Where do you draw the line an extra year ? two years five years ? If you didn't draw the line somewhere no games would actually ever get realised.

These two basically. The biggest flaws are design decisions (small amount of NPCs, short Guild questlines) and while they developed on the game for about 5 years with the limitations of this generation of consoles on their mind the game engine would have needed a revamp with the next gen consoles and that takes some time, look at Duke Nukem Forever more time doesn't equal a better game. ;)

But it was still madly successful. It just didn't please us TES fans who've been around longer in the series, and that's a shame. Still love the game though.

Skyrim needed some more open beta testing, more input from the community to take into account. There are quite a lot of obvious mistakes that would've been observed quickly by community testing. Even if the beta would be an insanely limited part of the gaming world, so as not to spoil too much beforehand.
