My main character when I played WoW was an orc rogue named, Gurkog... it was the only character named Gurkog during the 6 years I played, off and on. Since there are probably over 100 million characters made during that time I was rather surprised.

Theres nothing new under the sun because we are human and have similar likes and dislikes. So its only natural a spectacular humongous rpg which thrives to have a believable world like The Elder Scrolls would get its ideas from many real life and fantasy sources. In fact i've always felt due to how The Elder Scrolls were designed they are the perfect series to roleplay just about any fantasy you want to due to its references of endless other things. Fallout 3 is the same way and so were previous Elder Scrolls rpgs. When i first played Tes 2 Daggerfall i was amazed how well i could play the fantasy novel character Elric Of Melnibone and do it in a believable beyond my head fashion. Thanks for the great vid. Plenty of way out comparisons :foodndrink:

Life is a rehash always improving. Enjoy.

I think everything is based on something to exist, the biggest news of the world are based on surveys and studies that had existed before the same is true for technology, I see no problem with relying on something that already exists because it is human and normal.

if something is good to be absorbed and give starting to create something new:)

hehe. I like the overall point too. Very difficult to tread truly new ground in the fantasy genre.

On a serious note, and I'm not screaming ripoff:

Anyone notice any similarities between Skyrim's story/plot/characters and The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan?

James Cameron ripped that off from the Book "Call me Joe" http://www.amazon.com/Call-Collected-Short-Works-Anderson/dp/1886778752 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Call_Me_Joe

He basically copy-pasta'd it and then hired a team to do all the graphics for him and then said "IT WAS MOI IDEAAAAAAAAAAAA HOYHOYHOY EVURYBUDDY ELSE IZ A LIE!! MINE IDEA MINE MINE MINE ME JAMES CAMERON HURHURHUR"

Really? I thought it was more similar to Princess Mononoke. lol
Anyways, some things do set a certain standard. I mean why are elves, elves? Why are are Dwarves, Dwarves? Why are Mages, Mages? Why is any of this lore used at all?

Been a decade since I read those books never noticed it but I may reread them now that you mention it.

@seano12.....you could say that lotr copied myths from other cultures. Dwarves are germanic in origin and have the same traits as lotr. You could say the same about elves and orcs....he all got these ideas from existing myths and legends.
If anything mythology in our own history is what has been copied.

Heh that was funny and yes suppose to be a joke video, cant rule out anyone or any companies that stealing their ideas. Hell Blizzard (WoW) did that over EQ and many others copying. All that matter is, that the codes cannot be copied, materials or any other documents. Infact im glad Bethesda made Skyrim, if Daggerfall or any older games they made never came out, it wouldnt gone this far. And i doubt if any companies would have gotten this far, i use to like Biowares and loved that ol' Baldur's Gate and been into PnP, DnD for many years when i was young. But the games they made doesnt fix in and got tired of playing that craps.

Now i have played all the good RPGs and nothing beat Bethesda, good things that the construction kit was there to give the players more edges and that what make more interesting and more profits for Bethesda. The second roleplaying games that wasnt so bad was Gothic Series, til they ruin'ed it with part four. Risen wasnt so bad either, but lack of freedom to travel and few other details was lefted out like sprinting, etcs. Two worlds wasnt bad, but the graphics and AIs was terrible and you can forgot about TW2.

When i first got Skyrim, i loved it and played it for almost a week. Then i realise that it was missing something and wanted to wait til they add mods to it. Needed to be more realistic (gold coins weight, arrows weight, crafting own arrows, eating and sleeping, remove the compass and fast travel, able to make campfire and camp anywhere, etcs).

Really looking forward to see more landmasses around skyrim's border and we need more provinces to complete, infact all of them!

Skyrim is such a rip off, I actually bought six copies of it and gave it to my friends/family for Christmas. They all hate me now because they haven't shown up for work this week.
