Look fellas at the risk of being a wet blanket in the middle of a potential flame war, i have been gaming since alot of you were undecided, undecided as to whether you were going to be a person or just a wet spot after a hard night of "riding". All games over the last 20 years have borowed some ideas from each other. For example in Scarface the game they had cop circles for thier cop mechanic, where if you had the cops looking for you if you got out of thier zone of control for a period of time they stopped looking. This is suspiciously familiar with the cop concept in GTA4. All game companies borrow and i would preffer to have them borrow what does work, incorporate the borrowed idea with a slight tweak into the game, than to spend time trying to figure out a new concept that has not been tried in real game play with the potential for total svckage just to satisfy some folks with short term memories.
If you would like to argue as to whether the ideas borrowed are not as good as say other ideas from other games i am right here with you. But to argue against something that has been a part of gaming since the time many of you were still droolers, with full pants waiting on a cookie and clean shorts, is silly. To rephrase, all game companies borrow sometimes it works sometimes it does not but it still happens. There is only so many ways to represent how to crack an egg in a game, only so many ways deal with cop heat, graphically represent a mini game for money laundering, or even lock picking and hacking terminals, sometimes this allows the developer and the player to relate to the game faster. If you have seen it before you are more than likey to catch on faster allowing you to immerse that much quicker into the final product. It also allows the developer to tweak the idea incorporate it into thier work which saves time and resources for other content.
Just a suggestion from the center but do not let me get in the way of an argument, carry on if you will.
