i agree ive done did so many quests that are go here and get that type quests its getting old. im not even really exploring dungeons no more im just getting the quests and running through them hardly ever picking up anything anymore just trying to get all the trophies hoping my ps3 wont lock up every 5 minutes so i can move on to the next game. i hate to complain about a long game but after so many quests of random npc's trying to tell me why they need a sword or a book for some reason its just got old. great game but my interest in it has depleted i think and its time to move on soon.

LOL I basically said the same thing here - http://www.sevenforums.com/gaming/198691-discuss-skyrim-56.html#post1719361 - great game but getting old. This other issue I have is the constant dragon attacks. That's getting old too. I've got 21 shouts and 36 dragon souls left.

Anyway I agree with the OP, it has turned into one giant fetch and get game.

Bethesda games have always involved fetch quests. Being the open world game it is, it's hard to do another type of quest without forcing the player down that quest line, which is something they don't want to do. I think the fetch quests have enough variety to make them interesting.

I agree, for the last several years, games have not been difficult, all games are being "dumbed down" and just involve doing cliched quests etc.... so they appeal to a wider demographic....kids. That makes me cry. In the end it's all about money and quantity over quality. Look at some of the most popular games today, there's no real way to "fail" at them, except dying, then you just hit F9 and you're fine. 90% of video games today are for the person that does not, or does not want to think or use their brain. It's getting old.....

I doubt the OP has even played the game, there's plenty of non-fetch quests.

I get that there are going to be fetch and get quests, as any RPG game would have them, but as someone said this is a bit over done to the point that its beginning to feel like filler material. That's the point.

Skyrim's quests are fine, most if not the majority are pretty darn good but some like Mephala's quest are a joke.

No, its like Role playing and getting more out of a game after you squeezed everything dev made out of it. the devs dont factor in things to do for Inquisitor builds, or bar wenches, for example. Their non linear and 'miscellaneous' play style is incredibly rewarding and are two of my favorite RPs out of the thousands Ive made over the course of ES, specifically. Getting more out of your game, thinking outside of the box, using your imagination=fun.
I think the other person was saying that a lot of people think differently. They want to be told a story, rather than make one up. Some of Skyrim's fetch quests give you a little background, but it's not recorded anywhere. So, that quest will just get lumped in with some of the fetch quests that had little to no story. People want to see and hear characters tell them why they should care, rather than have to make up something themselves.

When I play an ES game, I rp and imagine on my character's behalf. It's fun to think about my character's reactions to the world and people around him. I don't like to have to make up the world and people around him (their stories anyway) in addition to making up his reactions to them. Feels fake. It's more fun watching a play that you didn't write yourself.

Yeah, look at Monkey Island. I know, it's not an RPG, but it was a lot about fetching anyway. But the trick was to figure out what to fetch, and from whom.
It really shouldn't be that hard to include some more riddles and the like.

There are a lot of fetch quests (which are hardly quests, simply miscellaneous tasks, as quests that are marked as quests have story and interesting characters to them.)
However, I was sent to find Queen Freydis' Sword in Ansilvund I believe and
Spoiler
Some Redguard woman named Lu-ah had resurrected the whole place full of Draugr. She does this for an interesting reason, but I won't spoil it for you, however I will tell you that it is an interesting unmarked quest where you learn things as you progress through the ruin/mine.

You forgot "Go to this Draugr infested tomb that looks like the rest, then kill this ancient priest before he becomes too powerful."

Seriously... the quests are just boring and uninspired. Oblivion: "Go into a painting and rescue my husband while retrieving a magical brush from a thief!" Skyrim "Go here fetch my sword from [generic cave] I dropped it in a fight with the worlds smallest skeever!"

I love Skyrim, but after a while it grates and there's nothing to do if I get sick of doing menial tasks for morons.

They are misc quests. There are so many of them it would be ridiculous (and time consuming) to put a back story for each of them and make them all unique.

And that Oblivion quest is pretty much the only one like it

Is anyone really saying that Oblivion's quests were better? because even though you had a single quest like the painter's you had [censored]loads of horribad quests (Fighter's Guild was horrible, for example, and Oblivion Gates were exsasperating). In skyrim you still have good quests, like Sanguine's, The Forsworn Conspiracy or Potema's, not to mention the guilds, while shorter, are way better.
Mage Quests were better. There was a more interesting storyline dynamic going on there. Heck, even that get the coin or whatever out of the well was interesting in that respect.

The Dark Brotherhood quests were awesome.

And if you roll it back one game earlier, the faction interplay in Morrowind added a lot.

So theyd rather do the same quests dozens, maybe even hundreds of times? I make hundreds of builds, I put thousands of hours in ES games. I get more out of my ES. Not doing what I said, would make a vanilla ES incredibly repetitive by then, especially for builds that are similer, but different (ie different mage types, different thief types etc.). Im not talking about doing what I say straight out of the gate. Although you could, since playing as an Inquisitor for example s just as fun and rewarding as an archetype who has plenty of quest lines and things tailor made for them.

Nowhere near completing all the quests but have to agree. Not come across any quests with the depth of the Dark Brotherhood or the fun of the Mages Guild. I guess this is where the DLC will excel, hopefully.

Oblivion did seem to have more memorable quests, but Skyrim has way more overall content. Also, I really enjoyed Skyrim's main quest, though I wish it were a lot longer. I think I liked it a little more than Oblivion's. I liked Oblivion's Mage's Guild quest much more than Skyrim's College Quest, but I like Skyrim's Companion's more than Oblivion's Fighter's Guild. Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood and Thieve's Guild were the better, but Skyrim's were both a lot of fun. Fetch quests don't really bother me. JMO.

It's an RPG, fetch quests are the staple. If you have a major issue with it, your playing the wrong genre.
