Okay first off this about the consoles, NOT PC. This is about textures and more specifically the X360's textures since 1.4

My main question and the reasoning behind this topic is simply: Does Skyrim on consoles NOT have HighRes Textures?

Because it seems like from what I've heard, and seen from other peoples games that they look the same as mine. Crappy, lowres, and looking like Oblivion. But EVERYONE keeps saying "My gfx look fine!", "Skyrim looks amazing!", and all this other jazz..

So it seems like to me the console community is just taking what is given. We shouldn't be like this, AT ALL. We should rise up and grab BGS attention no matter what we have to do. They NEED to know about this issue facing the XBOX360. And seeing as most of there market COMES from consoles.. it baffles me as to why they keep shoving aside the issue. Or are you just planning on leaving the game lowres forever? If that's the case you can never see me buy a game on console from your studio ever again. Period.

Because IMHO, my game looking like it's SUPPOSED to look is far more important then new killcams.. get your [censored] together PLEASE!

Are you talking about the DLC the released? No that was PC only. Everyone playing on console looks just like your game does.

Also Skyrim is at the max that consoles can support. Sadly consoles are not computers, they will never be able to handle the graphics computers can handle. Skyrim was built to the limitation of what consoles can handle. It CAN'T get any better. Its impossible.

How it's "supposed" to look is relative to the platform. The console is resource limited.

No, I'm not talking about the DLC. OR hopes of it coming to consoles.

I'm trying to verify once and for all if Skyrim (ON CONSOLES) runs at nothing but lowres textures, PERIOD. That the game on consoles NEVER had HighRes textures?

Because it doesn't seem possible, there's certain cities and objects I've seen BEFORE 1.4 that DID NOT have textures missing/blocks missing. AFTER 1.4 theres alot of pieces I've found that have blank openings into nothingness, textures violently flickering and not adjusting, etc. etc. etc.

I just don't get why 1.5 IS SUCH A DAMN SECRET.. let's just keep all the info on how we're fixing the game from our audience!!!

Okay I better understand your question now, no I don't think they ever had HighRes textures. I believe 360 and ps3 are both low res.

Ok this is a different context, and appears to describes bugs. Seek the relative platform (360) http://www.gamesas.com/forum/181-xbox-360/ and search for similar issues and ways (if any found) to resolve it. Maybe a patch applied badly / incomplete.

Dude really? I might as well be KING of the Issues Forum so many people have seen me post there it's redonkulous! Don't believe me go look..

Do you honestly think BGS pays attention to those forums? NOPE.

If they did there would've been TWICE the bugs fixed by now...

Actually they do. There was even a 200 post thread about it the other day.

And yes, your textures are low res...so are everyone else's on 360 and PS3.

Edit: Here's the thread. They lurk the forums on a regular basis. http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1356248-i-guess-bethesda-really-dont-read-or-care-what-people-ask-for-on-the-forums-at-all/page__p__20445987#entry20445987

Thinking just now..

Why is it that Oblivion, Fallout 3/New Vegas all have the same graphics. PC and Console.. there's really NO difference that is major.

Skyrim on the other hand.. looks like crap on consoles. But looks LIFELIKE on PC...

Why did they do this? To quell there lil pc [censored]? I don't get it.. why not make the graphics THE SAME like you did with previous games?

This time the PC gets better gfx? How does that seem fair to everyone who can't afford $600+?

Fair? What does fair have to do with it?

Elder Scrolls is their flagship series, so of course they went all out this time. And since PC's are capable of better graphics.... they made Skyrim for PC with better graphics. They did what they could with consoles.

Hardware limitations my friend.

The consoles are VERY outdated now compared to a even a middle budget pc. Also, if you did pay $600+ for a pc, wouldn't you expect more than if you bought a $300 console.

Skyrim uses the new Creation engine, while those other games you mentioned used the old Gamebryo engine. Since TW Gamebryo was developed back when the PS3 and 360 were developed, and thus have similar graphically capibilties.

Expect to TES 6 and Fallout 4 be similar on PC and consoles when the PS4 and XBox 720 comes out.

I don't play Fallout, but in regards to the graphics of Oblivion, consoles were inferior to PCs also. I had it for both PC and console, and a combination of horrible draw distances and even worse loading times pretty much ended my relationship with my 360. So no, superior PC graphics isn't a new development.

Why do they do this? Because there's no reason to spite PC gamers just because consoles lack the hardware capabilities that computers do. As a business, they cater to the needs of console gamers because the form a sizable portion of the market; however, as developers they, like any proud parent, have a desire to see the progeny of their minds reach their full potential. They can only do that on the PC.

Yeha, pretty much this.

It's like having two children, and one of your kids breaks their favorite toy.. and then they demand that you break their siblings favorite toy for it to be "fair".

I don't think they are low res... just lower res then on PC. there is a high res pack that ups the quality.
also console is native 720p not 1080p like many pc users.

It amazes me that people who spend $300 on a console expect them to run like a $3000 Alienware.

See I went from 720p to 1080p because I got a new TV. That's why I am bickering because I noticed how great Skyrim did look. But I swear after 1.4 something happened in the game to mess with the textures.. I'm positive.

2 questions then:

1. Is there a way I can transfer my saves from X360 to play on PC?
2. Does Skyrim support the X360 controller (wired) for use to play with instead of the keys?

What a charming fellow you are.

PS- you don't get 1080p, you get 720p upscaled to 1080p. Lol.

If you want top notch graphics you're gonna have to get a PC. Current PC's are far more powerful than the much older consoles and there's no way the PS3 or 360 could handle high res textures at this scale. Yes there are better looking games but they don't compare in the size and scope of the world of Skyrim so it's pointless to compare them. A good, modern PC can handle both the size of the world and the textures. Modders are making PC textures even better than the originals so some of the videos you may be seeing could be modded as well with extra high res textures. That said, it's pretty pointless to complain about textures when you're playing on a $300 console that's over 7 years old. We're lucky to still be playing the same game as the guys on the PC. If the console community weren't so large they would have dropped us already and would be making a far superior game for the PC market. I play this on the 360 so I'm greatful I can even play it. In the old days consoles didn't even get the better PC games.

Xpadder isn't even required, it's supported natively by windows and skyrim supports it also.

If I can get enough $$$ from selling my X360+games, then yes.. maybe I will become a lil pc really devoted fan...

Hell my lil bro already took the step. His X360 is gone and he's been playing on his laptop. F:NV mind you.. for some reason he adores Fallout > TES. Hell if I could I'd run it off this laptop but i'm not so sure it'd run correctly.
