Stupidest things you have done on New Vegas so far...

Post » Mon Mar 07, 2011 1:59 am

I have a tendency to miscalculate the distance between myself and C4 so when it came time to blowing up the trap I set for the Legendary Deathclaw, I sent myself flying across the cave room. Those were the tensest five seconds of my life because my character was alive but stunned, and I had yet to finish off the Legendary Deathclaw!

Did come out alive, by the way.

Haha. This was actually the second time I had a detonation mishap. The first time I blew Boone back 20 feet and he hit a boulder. I thought I killed him but he got back up and continued firing at deathclaws as though nothing happened. What a trooper.

I seriously think that Boone is related to Rambo or someone xD

I broke my legs and Boone's legs with the incompetent use of dynamite to disarm explosive traps.

Yeah, Boone is made of tough stuff although on both occasions neither he or my character took damage from the explosion. So while we were thrown back and stunned, maybe there's a smaller radius for explosive damage? Or maybe it was a glitch.

Well I wish I could say this doesn't happen often, or that it didn't happen a bajillion and ten times in FO3, but I tend to get tunnel vision when I am sneaking and lining up a scoped shot, and forget to check that I am not actually behind the edge of a collision box. Not that big of a deal if it's a rock or a wall or something, but behind an exploding car or the like..."Oh for [censored]s sake *KAAAAABOOOOOOOOOOOM*.

This happens with some frequency (though somewhat less in NV since less vehicles are explosive. Of course I did get a mod to make more of them blow up, so perhaps in some perverse sadomasochistic way I'm into that).

Great thread.

First time thru the game I took the perk that lets you walk over traps. I thought "this is awesome, I'm so tired of shooting/disarming those things!" But I forgot about Boone tagging along behind me and so I walked over a couple of mines inside a building...he followed, triggered them, and I exploded. As my dead self fell to the ground, the game was nice enough to show Boone still up and hearty, walking around, probably saying "ooops, my bad" to my blasted corpse.

Trying to fight deathclaw at level 6. I know that trying to fight it at that level means suicide, but I still do until finally I load my save in sloan and think "what the heck was i thinking?"

This is one small thing that I miss so much! I loved the car explosions in Fallout 3 as they added extra spice to the combat and made for some hilarious situations. On the rare occasions I see a car explode in New Vegas, I have a big smile on my face. :)

Going east or west-ish of the Yangtze Memorial outside of Goodsprings at level 3 or 4, I was just lucky to have bought the shovel early. Looted an incinerator from one of the graves, after that I decided I'd explore. I saw some unmarked locations on the map that looked pretty close, so I thought I'd check it out. I pressed LB to use V.A.T.S. to see if anything was ahead, and I saw a radscorpian, but carefully I could make out a giant radscorpian, so I thought, "boy, have I totally gotten past another of Bethesda's obstacles!" so after about half a mag of the incinerator (15 flamer fuel) I go around a corner and find 3 giant radscorpions. 20 more rounds. Then after running hopelessly away and trying to get to another corner in the rock I find 2 more. 35 more flamer fuel. After many stimpacks and calming down, I decide to trudge on, while I was thinking "well, at least that was the worst!".

Wrong.

Then around another corner I find 3 freaking cazadores. 60 more flamer fuel. After maybe 15 stimpacks or a tad less, 3 more. 24 flamer fuel left total. So then it turned to "*pant* *pant*, at least, *pant*, the worst is behind me!"

Wrong again.

Up ahead, I find a nearly familiar passage in front of Red Rock Canyon, which by the name, people are going to probably guess "oh man, you got snuffed by Khans!", but, nevertheless, wrong. I find a completely wrecked town full of Viper Gangers wearing FREAKING REINFORCED METAL ARMOUR and using SMG'S, DYNAMITE, AND TRAIL CARBINES on a LV. 3 NOOB!!!!! After smart saving, and 3 or more deaths, I'd just slipped away with a crippled leg and arm and about a quarter of my health left. At least the loot was bountiful! :celebration:

It's only a fail if you didn't crack the safe in his room.

You did unlock it when you walked in, right?

Stupidest things I ever did was trying to jump down to the river from a "cliff" to get away from some Legion soldiers...

Going to Vault 34 as a low level character....

I planted about 8 bricks of C4 in order to ambush Caesar but detonated them too early and ended up launching myself across the wasteland... Literally. I saw New Vegas from 1000 ft.
