Stupidest things you have done on New Vegas so far...

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 9:53 pm

Last night, i decided to attack The Fort by myself, with a 9mm pistol with extended clip. All was going well, until I went into Caesars tent, and than about 10 to 15 Praetorian Guard attacked, aswell as Legate Lanius and Caesar himself. As you can imagine, it did not end well, and i decided to give up after the 10th attempt.

Fast traveled to The Fort with my NCR costume still on and hadn't saved in a while (for some reason the auto save came after i entered the fort wearing NCR gear). Raul started killing Legion like flies, so i had to reload (this was my evil playthrough btw).

Hahaha! Agreed, putting skill points into Energy Weapons was the stupidest thing so far..

I second that agreement. The only reason the put points in energy weapons is to get the concetrated fire perk, you need 60 in EW. (it's actually a really good perk if you use automatic or quick firing weapons)

left my group at the 38 for r+r and went to sell some goods.

then some greedy swine alter ego saw a cave and went in to see what goodies awaited,
whats was waiting were rats...big rats in aplenty and me in a stealth suit.

as i rocketted out of the cave my jacksie was being chewed on by 3 big rats in turn and my lifeless corpse flew out of the cave to land with a thump right at the feet of gheckos.

the stupid part is when i reloaded the quicksave i did exactly the same thing and forgot to grab my crew....again.

Not so much a stupid thing I did, as more of a stupid thing that happened to me.

Boone and I are on our way to Nelson to become grand heroes of the Republic. We encounter some Legionaries on our way and I get the bright idea to wear a suit of their armor so as to infiltrate the camp a bit easier. I try to get Boone to do the same, but he wasn't going for it. In my new duds we walk about 10 yards towards Nelson when the screen switches to cinematic mode, and I see an NCR Trooper get his head blown off. Boone had shot and killed the Trooper, in an attempt to protect me as the Trooper believed I was a member of the Legion. Then he turns around and informs me that we can't be on the same team anymore, due to my sympathy for the Legion and my unprovoked attacks against the NCR.

Really Boone, Really? That was my fault?

Oh man, that is so mean of you. Such an unprovoked attack on a poor innocent NCR trooper. You should be ashamed.

Finding 3 holy hand grenades.
Then using one when the enemy was close to me, assuming it can't be that powerful.
They were scraping the me of the casino walls for weeks.

Trying to disarm a tripwire blocking a doorway, I accidentally clicked on the open door instead of the trap, closing the door and pushing me straight into the trap!

We've all been surprized by the cazadores and we've all been amazed at how fast 6 -8 death claws can kill you.
My dumbest moment has to be during the President's speech. I identify the would-be assasin, and thinking I'd be a hero, I pulled out my assault rifle and blew him away. Every NCR trooper in the place turns to attack me. Boone of course starts picking them off like flies to protect me and somehow manages to blow the escaping President's head off. Well I played it out just to see if I could survive it. Later, after everyone's dead, Boone tells me he can no longer work with me because of my attacks on the NCR.

One time i made what i thought to be the ultimate trap to kill a horde of deathclaws; 10 blocks of c4, 20 frag mines, and 15 plasma mines. So i lay that all out, the i ran into the deathclaw quarry, lured about ten them out, and then activated the trap with a holy hand grenade, when i was about 10 metres away from the trap. Bearing in mind i have the Demolitions expert perk ans Splash damage, it was to say the least, intense.

Heading over to say hy and feeling like I could take on 1 or 2 radscorpions over past goodsprings graveyard.

What I forgot is that there are no less than 20 or so giant radscorpions occupying this canyon. And when you kill one 3 more take its place.

Radscorpions will always reign supreme. :Shudders:

My stupidest moment would have to be thinking that I could take down deathclaws as easily as I could in FO3. I made up for it though with my genious plan for eliminating the deathclaws at the quarry. Just sneak my way up the cliff with the help of stealth boys, place all my mines, c4, and powder charges on the path leading to the top of the cliff, load up my silenced varmit rifle with AP rounds, and shoot away. Suprisingly, very few of them figured out where I was, and I was able to get back half of the explosives I laid out. I really chewed through a lot of ammo though.

Yeah deathclaws are alot hareder on F:NV than on Fallout 3, especially Alpha males and Mother deathclaws, and difinitely the Legiondary deathclaw :( :banghead:

Giving Veronica a legion bike helmet, then telling her to stay still as I snipe my way around a raider camp. 5 minutes later I'm zeroed on a dim raider who's standing motionless. Hehheh BLAM BLAM!!!

Wasted skill points on survival.
When I got to 40 points and I could only cook a worthless gecko steak.
So I started a new game with a better build.

So does it offer anything quest wise? Is it related to any quest? Or just goodies for those brave enough to go there?

Or is it there simply to instill fear into people?

The cazador nest isnt that bad..
there is a dead body and bag full of stuff on the ground .
to get the stuff you only have to take down about 3 young cazadors and one cazador..

I found a location elsewhere in the map where I was swarmed by about 12 cazadors and only just survived.
But it lead to me getting a reinforced combat armour and helmet..
its in the hills near westside.

I first encountered it at abot level 10, as iwas exploring places around Novac, and it was also my first encounter with cazadores. Its not related to any quest, and loot wise, there is only a .44 magnum and an adventurers pack with assorted items.

So I allied with the legion and was on my way to take down the brotherhood, I decided it would be fun to gain entry without Veronica, so anyway i agree and go through the crap about getting the collar and get escorted to the entrance, at this point im unable to control my character, can only pause and change camera views, gotta love glitches, so i reload and decide to fight my way through the place with no equipment and about 1/3 of my health. Took down Ramos with unarmed, then basically sneaking around under the floor trying to find sleeping people to kill via mr sandman, eventually i gave up and ran down to the second level and killed a scribe and stole some robes, relative safety

And one other time I went afk without pausing the game, came back and i had died of dehydration or so,

Another bug happened when using that eulcid C finder weapon, fast travelled from a deathclaw filled area to hoover dam, saved the game, when i loaded it again later, me rex and boone got annihilated by a large laser :glare:

Not to mention investing all my caps in the "wind brahmin" decided to get them back afterwards though

on my way to new vegas for the first time, level 5 or 6 or so, thought id swim across the colorado river and have a look at hoover dam. swam the whole way across the river bypassing camp golf and headed for what looked like a small fishing village. bit of loot i thought, no worries i thought ... it was overrun with about 10 cazadores, and having never seen one before and thinking it was a big bloatfly, i pointlessly shot my caravan shotgun at one from about 20 metres away. it didn't even take a scratch ... and then the swarm came ... oh god the swarm ....

getting incredibly worked up into a fuming nerd-splosion because i couldn't figure out i had to hit "down" to start playing caravan properly ...

walking up to benny in the tops and shooting him in the face ... on very hard mode
