Stupidest things you have done on New Vegas so far...

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 4:44 pm

Decided to check wailing wing cave. Noticed that it was full of deathclaws, so I came out and noticed that I was surrounded by 3-4 deathclaws. Thanks to my careless saving I finally (after several loads) had to run to Novac before I finally got rid of those buggers. I have never used that much stimpacks before or after...

Hrm Personally I think my most cretinous moment so far was sending ED-E off to be upgraded without considering the need to unload his inventory, which from memory did include a unique weapon.

Underestimating the limbs of these new deathclaws. It takes a lot more bullets to cripple a deathclaw for easy killing then before (missing the dart gun). Not to mention thinking I could take on quarry without a good guerrilla strategy instead of pot shots at long distances.

the stupidest thing i have done.. i barely survived the legion raid camp (i was level 3 and i took them on because i knew i was going to side with the NCR, also this was my first playthrough.)

after i had just saved my game a group of Legion assassins tracked me down and killed me. whenever i reloaded that save they would be waiting for me.

i had to reload like 6 times before i

edit- no wait. when i ignored the warning deathclaws ahead sign. i didnt see any in the distance.

i started walking and then the music started playing. i was dead within the next 4 seconds

Took on a trio of Nightstalkers at level 4. They are at the bottom of the map, East of the Mojave Outpost. Figured I could explore that area no problem. Figured wrong.

That was [censored] stupid. I was swearing and screaming so loud my third floor neighbor heard me.

Thinking that Cazadors were just pretty versions of Bloatflies.

Me too.

I just pulled out my machete and ran straight towards it. Bad idea

Not so much a stupid thing I did, as more of a stupid thing that happened to me.

Boone and I are on our way to Nelson to become grand heroes of the Republic. We encounter some Legionaries on our way and I get the bright idea to wear a suit of their armor so as to infiltrate the camp a bit easier. I try to get Boone to do the same, but he wasn't going for it. In my new duds we walk about 10 yards towards Nelson when the screen switches to cinematic mode, and I see an NCR Trooper get his head blown off. Boone had shot and killed the Trooper, in an attempt to protect me as the Trooper believed I was a member of the Legion. Then he turns around and informs me that we can't be on the same team anymore, due to my sympathy for the Legion and my unprovoked attacks against the NCR.

Really Boone, Really? That was my fault?

Also, the last save I had put me back over half an hour.

Mine is trying to go down the road by goodsprings with all the signs saying don't go there. I went three times and got killed by cazadores, then the fourth timevictor told me not to go, then by the fifth time I got halfway through and tried to turn back but it was too late.

Oh! I have a new regret.
I had 30,000 caps. ( I sell weapons and do a lot of battling in The Thorn to earn the money.)
I decided to be brave and go to the Casino in New Vegas to become uber rich.

First spin on the slots. Tripled the amount! I decided to go even further into my daring attempt at luck.
Doubled the amount. 180,000 caps was enough to get me through the game for 100 hours atleast!
Alright, I told myself. This would be the last spin. I lost all my caps.
Shrugging it off, I thought I saved before every spin attempt.
My last save was over 2 hours ago.

All that money... I spent 2 hours in the Thorn trying to get it all back. What a sad day that truly was.

I read a short guide on a website, for a cave that I went into. It mentioned a ton of loot, inside a locked area, with a grenade booby trap. What do I do? I pick the lock and rush in. I heard the grenades hit the ground. I trid to run, but they blew me into tiny bits.

My entire first playthrough was full of "WTF was I thinking?" moments, now that I look back. I tried to take on a nest of nightstalkers with Veronica (only robes) and a 9mm. I ran through the area north of Searchlight, in search of the Legion, with almost no ammo. I was using a varmit rifle against a building full of escaped convicts. I queued up three grenade throws, in VATS, on a raider running at me. After the first throw, they all landed right at my feet (he had closed the distance between us).

The dumbest thing I did was to save, in the middle of the Deathclaw Promontory, after killing all the deathclaws. I reloaded, in the middle of about 15 deathclaws. Veronica made for a great distraction, while I jumped onto a rock they couldn't access.

Cazadors are nothing compared to deathclaws. A few shotgun blasts will dispatch a cazador. I'm better served using a shotgun as a method of suicide than as a weapon against a deathclaw.

six with a prosttute... her name was sweet... sweet somthing. The pimp was that Sarah Girl, over in westside if im not mistaken.

Waste of caps! The screen fades to black, then nothing, then i loose 100 caps and get nothing for it!

Gah i got a free sho... well more like "Audio" just standing in the building. (Do it and listen close you will se... hear what i mean)

O... and when i walked into Quarry Junction at lvl 5.... Let's just say.... it did not end well..... For the Deathclaws!

Lucky for me i had got that Helio's one operational, on the super weapon thing. I also rushed to Vegas, and stole the toy/Weapon from him. I then went back the opposite way to goodsprings then i was gonna do the main quest.

I ended up running from 40 deathclaws right into there breeding grounds. I ran and ran, then i found a glitched rock mover. When i went on it, they all gathered around it, but could not follow me up.

I then took out the super weapon, and i fired at there huddle. Most of them died, the others, that were on fire retreated. They later burnt to death.

Your not the only one who did this. Just today i was helping that lady at the thorn, i go into to get the eggs, and notice this gate. I had no clue there was a trip wire there. I pick the Very Hard lock and Jump in, purly cause i knew there was somthing good in there, so i was excited, then pick the average lock on the locker/trunk. After i open it i find loads of NCR dollars, 7900 Bottle caps, and lots of Legion Coins. I then go and scavenge the medic box. After i close the scavenging i hear, "Clunk.... Clunk.... Clunk" I turn around a notice Veronica just walked in the area, then 3 pebble/Grenades on the ground, then the broken trip wire....

Then i was like, "WHY GOD!", BOOM!

Trying to plow through the Brotherhood on my first playthrough with the regular sniper rifle. And let me tell you, 1 guy with a chump change sniper rifle vs. the whole brotherhood armed to the teeth with them gauss rifles is easier said than done.

Same here... the sad thing is I did it three time, because I thought it was opening the footlocker that triggered the explosion, so first time I ran straight in, activated the footlocker, took all the money, out of loot screen, click....BOOM!. Second time, I was randomly jumping around, and I still didn't know where the trigger was, so somehow i jumped over, grabbed my loot, then i walked out... click... BOOM! Third time, I found the tripe wire, and while i was trying to disarm it boone ran across it,and.. you know... BOOM!.

It's good to know that I wasn't the only one who fell for it. I still feel bad because I actually read about the trap before I went in, and I still triggered it. I guess the allure of 7,000 caps was too much.

If you're looking for the Enclave...
Spoiler
Look for Arcade Gannon at the Old Mormon Fort.

As far as that cave trap goes, it was actually well hidden. The second time through I looked around for the grenades. They blend in really well with the stalactites.
