I'm stuck at work. Are the new updated textures noticeable? Can I get some screenshots to help pass my next 4 hours at work? Does the game look any better?

Over 3 gigs which is pretty insane. The whole game is worth 5 gigs before.

I'm just excited to see how much better it looks but its hard to tell from the pictures on Steam since you never know if those are doctored shots or not..

I highly suspect that these new textures are separate files so you can enable/disable them via mod manager or from the game menu.

You will have to reinstall the game. Now, since the Hi Res comes as BSA's, it may be possible to archive the current BSA's before you download the new ones. Then move them around. But, I don't know if there is an Archive Invalidation process. I also don't know if the new BSA's replace the current ones, or are loaded with the current ones.

You might want to "Back up local game files" before downloading, that might be the easiest way to undo this. If you don't choose to compress, it won't take too long to back up.

WOW - 3 GBs of textures?

I thought the game looked amazing even without them!

I can not wait to go home tonight and start downloading them. Is it all downloaded via STEAM?

So now the question is whether Bethesda's HD texture pack is better looking than the HD textures mod...

It's only been out for an hour and it's 3 gigs to download, so I'd hold off on the Screenies for a little while yet.

Probably. Or atleast every single texture is higher res, since it's 3GB which is insane

They are new BSA files that do not overwrite old BSA files. they are activated through ESPs. So yes, they are very easy to get rid of.

EDIT: I should say "should be very easy to get rid of." I doubt that they are necessary files. And by that i mean, if you delete them, your game will likely function properly, and revert back to the old BSA without them....

They're the textures where the default textures were downscaled from, so even if they are of lower resolution they'll fit the game better.

Does the texture pack start downloading automatically like an update or do I have to hit a button or subscribe or something?

BTW I don't trust the screenshots on the steamstore.. I want to see 'real' screenshots, not doctored stuff.

Once selected from the store page it should start installing automatically after a little while (think it took my steam about 30 seconds to start the download)
