If you can't see the difference, Specsavers should be the next stop for you.

This was the first texture to really bother me. It hasn't been changed at all. I wsih that they had fixed it.

I may be confused here also. I thought loose files required an Archive Invalidation mechanism to be loaded in the first place. Maybe if your using something Archive Invalidation Invalidated that it renders all this moot. It would be best to test it, then figure out why the textures you want are not loading, then fix those few. I am sure the modders who make Texture mods would be best to get this answer from for their respective mods.
So is it confirmed that the hires bsa files overrides completely the files contained in Textures folder?

I don't think it's actually a texture, just an effect pasted on top of others.

Some examples look better than others.

I started in Breezehome and didnt see much, got out in Whiterun and was looking around for things that looked better, underwhelmed.. got outside and now I can really see the difference. Water looks great, fur looks awesome... My card is chugging though on 4xAA 16xAF.

Oh well im using same card as you just different brand. You chug, now i wonder should i use tgis or skyrimhd lite 1.4

LOL, what did you expect? 4096x4096 uber textures that require 2GB of VRAM?

Also, I heard that the snow effect is a real generated effect when it snows, so it will be low quality. Real snow layers and from what I heard this is similar. Has anyone seen this effect? When it snows, if you come back to the same place there is snow on everything.

Ok, downloaded, installed, ran it. I removed my texture and mesh files from any other mods and just ran vanilla Skyrim with this new texture pack. I'm not impressed. Yes things are of a slightly higher definition, but only VERY slightly. It's like going from low to low and a half. The new mod caused some texture problems, improper rendering, missing texture (purple box) and flickering in some spots. Water textures still flow the wrong direction in rivers and it didn't touch plants, objects, etc. If someone claims it did, you can't tell in game. The only good thing I found was that it was less of a performance hit, my fps actually went up, than the user mods. For me, I'll be using the player created content here.

Here is a screen of a missing texture from the new High Res pack. This is with only the Bethesda HR textures.

Maybe others can verify this same location? This is in Riften, at the center marketplace, should be obvious if others have the same issue as me.

I have seen several other users from other forums reporting this issue so i think its a problem on their end. This specific texture in Riften.

It's a subtle change, as it should be. I'm personally very pleased - not only by the results but by the fact that Bethesda went to the trouble to provide this to PC users, free of charge. I don't care for texture overhauls that change the look and style of things without regard for overall context. I'm also pleased that I didn't experience any performance hit using this texture pack. If you're looking for obvious differences, then you're probably going to prefer an overhaul mod. If you want to preserve the look and feel of the game as much as possible, then this pack is hard to beat right now.

Have the exact same problem with that very same prop in Markarth, probably need to verify out caches as they probably got corrupted during download. Others have had corrupted files also.

All in all, I'm not too impressed, but still pleased to see it. I'm going to stick to using custom texture packs still however. I'm mostly happy with the gear-improvement.

That's not the only one I've found. The first one I encountered a couple mages (fire vs. frost) fighting outside Whiterun and one of their spell effects caused a purple box when it landed. I took a ss of that too, but hit prt scrn instead of F12 cause I've been playing another game so it's not on Steam. No spell effect decals ever caused a purple box missing texture before the High Res Pack. So I'll thank Beth for a good patch 1.4 (though months late imo) and a nice try at the high res pack, but falls long short of a good job.

Well they missed a lot of textures , mostly its just the "main" textures wich are changed. Gonna have to put user mods overtop of it as desired.

I was hoping for a complete overhaul... now its just another mod to add to my growing list.. sigh

It's a subtle change, as it should be.

A graphic overhaul from blurry low-res textures should be subtle? You've completely lost me there.

I'm not going to complain about something you get for free (I don't know if I'll even use it, texture mods from regular users are much better quality) but I don't get your logic at all.

The big advantage from what I can see is they have made slight upgrades to textures as yet untouched by mods but using those textures along with the vastly improved ones by modders so far seems more trouble than it's worth.

Strange, I like the vanilla one that one better. Floor looks so different and the walls of the home are replaced but less wider wooden pieces... hmm

I like the comparisons. I would actually LOVE to have this on console. IMHO it should.. theres an obvious increase of more detail and anti-aliasing in certain parts. But IDK if it would be 3 GB for us as well.. and would it harm the game overall?

I don't think it would be possible to put on consoles for technical reasons, otherwise these would be the default textures in all versions and not a Steam DLC months later. What happens is they make super high-res textures and then down-res them for their target platform (XB360), the vanilla textures were probably as good as they could get for consoles while still having a decent frame-rate and PC users just had to live with it... until now that is.

Looking at some of the comparisons I'd have to say I'm pleased.
This makes it look sharper in most cases.

Looking at textures in this game was never much of an issue at distance, but when up close it was a blurry mess, this deals with it and fixes most of that.

I looked at the post where it was compared to vanilla, HD textures by BGS, and then finally the HD2k by a modder.
In all honesty I prefer the BGS HD pack in most cases, sure some textures looked sharper in the modders one but it also changed the texture to something else.
At times those new textures don't jive as well in my book, and in some instances there were no major difference.

Also a lot of the equipment and clothes etc looks a LOT sharper now, a big difference in many cases.

This would also have a lot less impact on your system running it and probably less conflicts, whatever.

I'd say cheers to BGS for releasing this, in a sense this should have been included by default with the game, but I'll take it :).
It was nothing they were forced to do now in retrospect so, this free bonus is a good one.

So thank you BGS.....

Can someone take a look at this screenshot and confirm that the texture on the wooden beams hasn't been changed by the texture pack?

They seem to be still extremely lowres, and honestly stand out a bit.
Just want to be sure if it's "supposed" to look like this or if I have a different problem here.

no, but that they would do more than just 27% of the textures: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1343691-info-detailed-anolysis-of-highres-pack-click-to-learn/

I prefer the Beth DLC textures to the HD2k mod.. that one is too contrasty/harsh to be realistic.
