HD Textures DLC is so huge!

Can you see any difference between two parts of this picture ?

Nope, I can't! But if it's the normal maps that have been decompressed (I hope so) then the difference would be most noticeable when moving around or panning the view.

I downloaded the minute it was ready. Very impressed and performance impact is minimal. Little longer load times, but expected.

First thing you notice is NPCs. Improved NPC clothing is no longer needed. No More Blocky Faces is no longer needed.

Dwemer ruins look awesome. Everything is sharp. Lots of hi res texture mods are now obsolete, IMHO.

Well they are jpg compressed and downscaled on the image hosts site, LOL. Best thing you can do is upload a uncompressed bitmap at your native resolution.

I see the improvement though, which is good.

I'll be surprised if isoku's awesome mods for water and fire will be invalidated.

There will be a bunch of other texture mods that must remain...night sky, skill screen, etc.

Why there are 2 .esp files for this DLC? Do you know if every files has a function or not? For example: maybe in one file there are ambience textures and in the another one, there are items.

So what is the consensus regarding performance? Good, bad? I'm still downloading now, just wondering how it runs for you guys.

@SiegFried

The ESP's are used for easy disabling of the Texture Pack, quite handy I say :tongue:

@MultiVaC

Performance is the same for me, same for my Brother as well and he has a NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT 512MB and the texture pack is running fine for him.

Well, nice so far, unfortunately it has overwritten the face textures for my dark elf ... and she finally did look good. I am a bit surprised by that - shouldn′t the loose textures still be "active" despite of the new .bsa?

That's what I was hoping, that the default processing order of precedence would be:
1. Built in vanilla textures
2. HD texture pack
3. Modded textures

@Ashemanu

Yeah but I guess there being overrided by Beth's pack, you can easily turn it off via Skyrim's Launcher in the Data files button.

Anyone with ATI radeon cards without powerplay turn on tried to run this HD pack?
my specs:
i7 2630QM 2.0ghz, 4gb ram, ati 6570M 1gb. It can handle ultra with 30 FPS with powerplay, though it gonna overheat.

Try verifying the game cache through Steam. Your download might have missed or corrupted a few files. Same goes with the Creation Kit.

My problems with textures not rendering correctly and the Creation Kit not working was fixed by verifying my cache. If your experiencing these problems. I suggest you verify your cache. Thanks for the advice Tyraa Rane!
