HD Textures DLC is so huge!

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 1:41 am

Just...wow! 3,2 Gb. Now here is 7:43 pm, so I hope that download end before that I've to go to sleep. Maybe with my rig I can't use it, but I want to try.
Considering the huge dimensions, I suppose that HD textures are for all in the game, right? Walls, pitch, faces, clothes, armors, etc...

It will most likely be all the vanilla textures uncompressed, I think the current textures at the moment are 512x512 and 1024x1024, this will most likely bump them up to 2048x2048 or 4096x4096.

The Hi-Res pack is not working out so well for me and I exceed the recommended requirements. If I disable it the game runs smooth like normal. But with it on it looks like this. http://imgur.com/AwUAo

It will not even load past that screen. I was so excited to see the new textures. :( - To call my luck even worse. The Creation Kit just keeps crashing as soon as it launches.

I'm pretty sure you will be able, but expect a FPS loss:

System Requirements
Recommended:

Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU
Memory: 4GB System RAM
Video Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card with 1GB of RAM (Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 or higher; ATI Radeon 4890 or higher)

Try verifying the game cache through Steam. Your download might have missed or corrupted a few files. Same goes with the Creation Kit.

Repair it in Steam. Right click on Skyrim in the game library. Go to properties/local files/verify integrity of game cache. Then defragment the cache (same menu).

Do you have a 64-bit or 32-bit Windows?

As usual (3rd time now), these should've been released with the game on 11.11.11 but better late than never. But hey at least we got the high-res textures now, which is more than we can say for those SWTOR players.

After installing it, this is how I felt: That's it?

It honestly felt underwhelming and if I hadn't just spent 30 minutes downloading it, I'd be questioning if it was even any different.

Can I use modded textures with the DLC? :unsure2: I've deleted all mods.

I dont' know yet, seems i can't play or download the HD Textures, Steam servers are down or too busy.

Ok, if anyone know how to use the Creation Kit, please make a tutorial on how to disable that dynamic lightning effect (change) when turning mouse up and down !!!

Are there any screenshots of these high-res textures? The steam-page just shows those ancient 720p screenshots from a year ago. Very helpful indeed...
