The Big Empty in Old World Blues....

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 12:42 am

Judging by the fact that the big empty is in the middle of nowhere and has tons of old world tech, I think that it might be Area 51. Place where you think it would be below.

Las Vegas - Area 51 135 miles 2.5 hours
Las Vegas - Rachel 146 miles 2.5 hours
Reno - Area 51 382 miles 6.5 hours
Reno - Rachel 344 miles 6 hours

and there, you go.

135 miles, and zion national park is maybe about roughly the same, so it could be true.

The Big Empty is probably located around big Mountain a place mentioned in Dead Money, a real place in California.

It's supposed to be a problem for NCR and would likely not be more towards central Nevada like Area 51 is. It makes little difference whether it is in Area 51 or not, because we don't know anything of consequence about it IRL in the first place. It's a top-secret place. There is nothing about it that should make it any more awesome if it is Area 51, it's just a name.

IF it is Area 51, I hope there's nothing to do with aliens there.... unless you have the Wild Wasteland trait.

Which would be pretty awesome.

I would like the Big Empty to be based on Area 51. Area 51 is a place with a lot of advance technology, it is where the stealth bomber and fighter were tested. And add the fact that groom lake is surrounded by mountains, and the area is pretty big and empty. Hell Area 51 would have had a few dozen nukes detonated there, and now there is a really big how in the ground. So to me, Area 51 would make sense to be the Big Empty.

Area 51 does exist, the only thing that the American government denies, is the fact that it is still an active area of research and development.

Agree, they belong in a Sci-Fi game....which Fallout can be considered.

Lasers that are hand held weapons- check
Mutants- Check
Robots that can think for themselves- check
Giant versions of normal creatures- check
BS science to explain all of the above- check.

As you can see Fallout can be considered a Sci-Fi game.

considering Fallout is about everything that was cheesy B-movie scifi films from the 50's rolled into one, aliens fit well since there where a TON of crappy 1950's B movies about aliens.
