How does http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=18982668 look for a new gaming computer?

No sound card? It all looks expensive get your taxes back?

I would get a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115214 over the bloomfield. cause the socket LGA 1156, mobo's are cheaper with this socket i believe. I looked up the difference between the two types and i woulda chose lynn for other reasons too, of course i forgot though.

Don't need a sound card really. But the 5830 is a pretty weak card for a $1200+ gaming build.

Whaa? I have a 4870 and it plays anything i throw at it at max (minus dx10 stuff), i'd imagine a 5830 is pretty good!

Im for radeon though, i had a geforce, im liking my radeon better, it gives me warm fuzzies inside. Check out if they have a HIS one for ~ same price, they seem to have better cooling that the other brands.

p.s. I dont feel complete w/o a sound card, maybe its just me.

p.p.s. Where are the LEDs on your PSU! Lol, i have to have my psu light up >,<

It's a build for my cousin. He doesn't really need or can afford a $400+ card, but this way he can upgrade later.

The 5830 is really just not a good 58xx series card. Get a 5850 and a cheaper CPU.

EDIT: also, you're welcome to go with Sapphire to save some money, but you better hope that nothing ever goes wrong, since they have some of the worst customer support in existence.

Is 5830 better than 5770 at least? I said expensive cards like 5850 are out of the question...

Yes, I understand that you said that, but the difference in price between the CPU you have and an i5 750 is more than the difference between that 5830 and this 5850

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125318&cm_re=5850-_-14-125-318-_-Product

Plus, you have no combos. I don't have time to look for any, but have you? You should be able to find some that reduce the price.

Is it worth it to sacrifice triple-channel RAM and LGA1366 compatiblity in order to get a GPU that will be outdated and/or cheaper in 1 year anyways?

The HD 5830 is fine. Performance is between that of the HD 5770 and HD 5850. The difference in price between the 5830 and 5850 is about 50USD. In either case the computer will be sufficient.

I still use HD 3870 and don't have issues.

Not that the Radeon 5830 is a bad card, but the Radeon 5850 is a considerable jump. See what you can manage with this combo and whether the Radeon 5850 will fit in budget:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.381166

Otherwise, this will help:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.381096

Also, Asus makes better DVD drives than Lite-On:

Thanks, I will take a look. :)

Will the current RAM be fine on that motherboard? The RAM I've chosen is DDR3 1600 and the motherboard says "Memory Standard DDR3 2200/1333/1066/800"

Alright, a friend of mine is looking to build the cheapest possible PC with parts from Newegg.com.
He doesn't need a PSU, OS, Monitor or keyboard and mouse. He already has 1GB of DDR2 667 RAM.

What would be the cheapest possible compatible parts?

I had http://secure.newegg.com/Shopping/ShoppingCart.aspx?Submit=view for him with a Sempron processor, but apparently Newegg ran out of the Semprons that completed the combo deal with that mobo.

EDIT: he doesn't even want a DVD drive right now either.

Um, that link doesn't lead to anything that anyone can see but your own PC. gotta put stuff in a Public Wish List similar to what Nami88 did above. Or take a snapshot

Also, what's the most this friend of yours can spend?

Ah sorry never had to post a whole list before. I usually do it item for item. He says $150 is the most he wants to spend.

Consider this combo with what you've selected if a CPU is still needed:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.394179

And I'd prefer a hard drive with at least 16MB cache, but if this PC is merely for simple daily tasks then what you've chosen is ok. Something like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136161&cm_re=western_digital_caviar_sata-_-22-136-161-_-Product

Otherwise, I feel Seagate has somewhat lost its touch these days since the acquisition of Maxtor. I find this to be the better alternative over the Seagate:

Hi all,

Sometimes, my optical drive (LG something) make noise while reading a CD/DVD (installing a game for example). The noise sound like an old 3.5'' drive but less loud (rapide burst of sound).

During those period, the drive reading speed is slower. Doesn't always last for long.

The disk are not scratched or dirty. I don't understand..

Someone have a hint? I hope it's not dying, cause it's new.

How well do you think I can run Left 4 Dead 2?

It should run on low,not sure I would recommend it just because playing games on low really takes away from their feel-and you will -just- be running on low.

Not to mention your teammates will hate you because of your loading times (I'm speaking from experience here).

Left4dead (2) is not a pretty game on low settings, it destroys the atmosphere. I'd also recommend against getting it.

I have a Razer Diamondback 3G mouse at the moment. I've had it for a little over a year, and it was pretty good, but now the middle mouse button died. First it only scrolled properly only half of the time, then it stopped scrolling altogether, and a few weeks later the middle mouse click stopped working too. There's no dirt in it or anything so I don't know what's wrong.

I suppose I could send it in for repairs (3 year warrant) but with the shipping costs and everything buying a new mouse might be cheaper... I'd prefer a wired USB one and it doesn't need any complicated buttons for gamers or whatever. Left click, right click, and a scroll wheel in the middle is all I need. Nothing expensive, but not some cheap $5 mouse either. Any recommendations?

I've been playing around with my 32" 720p HDTV as a PC monitor again after finding the image quality pretty poor last time I tried. This time I tested a few more games and the results are a bit confusing.

Last time the image looked pixelated and there were tons of jaggies that AA had no effect on (BioShock, BioShock 2, Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age, etc). I assumed this was because the pixel density is really low - 1360x768 native resolution on a 32" screen. This time I tried Street Fighter IV and Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 and it looked fine.

So, any ideas as to why certain games look fine where as others not so much?

What 5850s are capable of being over volted? The MSI ones are but I need 2 DVIs or a DVI and a VGA if they still come in that flavor. I don't know how well HDMI to DVI to VGA would work for space in back of my computer unless there are HDMI to VGA ones. I'm satisfied with my 2 excellent 20 inch CRTs i'm rocking right now.
