I heard the new Nvidia cards have heat and power issues. May want to do a bit of research before buying one.

I doubt somebody would buy them all as a package. It all depends on what people are willing to pay for each game, but it may take weeks to sell it all.

I bought all of that stuff at full retail price when they first came out, so what would be reasonable to charge where I won't be at a complete loss?

The GTX 470's more reasonable on heat and power consumption than the 480, but it's not the best card on the market nor the best value. It's not superior to a less expensive ATI 5850. You'd still want a high-end power supply for it.

It would be different for each game, depending on rarity and demand. Shop around on amazon and price competitively, or make an ebay auction. I'm not an expert on economics so I don't really know.

Probably not. None of those games are particularly rare. Is the 60 gig PS3 one of the backwards compatible ones? That might be a big selling point for it.

Shouldn't be a problem with the cpu but I would look at scythe coolers if you have a small case. And well, you've already heard about the VGA...

I really like my Antec 300. :hubbahubba:

Yes it's backwards compatible. It's the same one I bought on launch day, but with its age I'm scared that the YLOD will come soon, so I want to get rid of it before that happens.

A quick ebay search came up with a bunch of the backwards compatible PS3s actually, in the 200-300 dollar range. Not going to get your money back on that I guess. :( Games are like cars, the second you buy em their value decreases.

I guess that's pretty true. My friend lost his Killzone 2 disc, so he bought another one. A week later he found his old disc and went to sell it at GameStop and they only gave him $25 for it. This was when Killzone 2 was still $59.99.

Fix'd. Sealed games fetch pretty nice prices after a few years, if they are rare.

Well that's the same as the car anology though. The old, "classics" are worth a lot, as long as they're in good condition.

I've got the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119068&cm_re=coolermaster_centurion_5-_-11-119-068-_-Product with a fan instead of the side funnel. Case is 7.95" wide. The heatsink at it's largest dimension is 4.92 inches, so that gives me 3 inches (at least) between the side fan and the top of the heatsink.

From http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-470-480-review/9, I got these important things about the heat:

Despite a smaller die however, TDPs are relatively high, the GTX 480 will consume at maximum 250 Watts whereas the GTX 470 is using as much as the last generation product, roughly 225W. Still, that's definitely not as bad as the first rumors suggested.

TDP = Thermal Design Power - roughly translated, when you stress everything on the graphics card a 100% your maximum power consumption is the TDP.

A very clean backside, it's interesting to see that the new reference models all have a gap in the PCB at the cooler location, likely drawing some more cold air into the cooler. The cooler itself it not at all noisy.

Ok, I found the keyboard I bought. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132140.

It's a real cheapo one, and I can't find the drivers anywhere :( I'm missing being able to use the volume wheel though. Any suggestions?

Is that different tot he service pack?

Yes, I think so (I don't know which service pack you installed)

Although the .NET framework shouldn't effect games like OB and Morrowind as they don't use .NET and the error you have is not (directly at least) .NET related. The error looks to be related to C or C++.

Sometimes it goes wonky and a reinstall can fix issues.

On the page you got the http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9b2da534-3e03-4391-8a4d-074b9f2bc1bf&displaylang=en, scroll down to the 2005 version and try installing it. (I have 4-5 entries of 2005 in my Add/Remove.) Worth a shot.

A few days shy of three months ago, I bought a http://www.dlink.com/dir-601 to use for a home network and, ostensibly, to provide wireless internet access to my laptop. Sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning, it crapped out. None of the lights come on, regardless of where it's plugged in. Everything else that was plugged into the same power bar still works fine. Anyhow, I now "need" to buy a replacement. Are these known to be crap or did I just get a lemon?

I know. Although CCleaner is saying there is a problem with the .NET stuff in my registry, so it might help - but I'm surprised I'm getting a C++ error after installing the thingy a couple of pages back.

(She says like she understands any of this.)

There are two on the page - which do I want? The SP version?

This is probably a silly question, but do motherboards have specific operating systems they do and don't work with? I know they don't always have the drivers needed for a specific operating system...

The motherboard itself, not that I'm aware of. Onboard components can be another story.

Frequently, usually when an operating system is too old or too new: many newer motherboards won't run Windows 95 or 98, and many older ones won't run Vista or Windows 7.

Because Apple controls both operating system and hardware, Apple is good about telling you about compatibility issues. Microsoft and independent motherboard makers are less able to predict compatibility problems. Linux, you're on your own, though the popular distributions are generally better than Windows about installing on just about anything.

Alright, thanks. I went to the manufacturers website and it does support the operating system I may install, so that's good.

I ordered a new hard drive and it is arriving today, I wanted to clarify some things before I set it all up:

The new one (let's call it A) is faster than my current one (let's call it B), so I want to reinstall Windows 7 onto that one. Now B currently has Windows and most games on a smaller partition, and everything else on the larger one; if I deleted the main partition (in the Windows setup) could I add the leftover size to the secondary backup partition without losing any data on there?

I want to make B into one big storage drive, and I want A to have a small partition for the OS and a second partition for games. How much room should I leave on the main OS partition where I won't run out of space?
