My laptop's screen is very dirty there is dust and marks of where I have sneezed and etc. I heard there is some special type of wipes that clean computer screens without damaging them. I need to know soon because in an hour or two I'm going shopping so I need the name of it or brand.

I gotz a problem for yous.

The only moniter I have for my PC is a HDTV. I hook it up through the HDMI port. So the resolution I want to display at is 1920x1080. I have a MSI 9600GT. If I go into the Nvidia Control Panel and select that 1080p resolution, it displays on my TV, but all the edges are cut off. I lose about an inch off of every side. I'd say it's about the size of the windows taskbar thingy at the bottom of the screen, because I can't see it and it appears to be right below the cutoff point.
With the "Adjust Desktop Size and Position" thing I can set my resolution manually to 1808x1016, which fills out my screen perfectly.
What I wanted to know is, what's causing this? Is there a way I can fix it so I can use my TV's native resolution?

Did you try messing with the TVs aspect ratio and widescreen settings?

Right, I have a question.

I've just run WinDirStat (Thanks Defron :)) and I've cleaned up as much as possible from my Windows Partition. But it's still almost full (it's an 80GB partition).

Will it be safe to go into Disk Management (Windows) and shrink my 'Shared Storage' partition (750GB) and then extend my Windows partition? Will I need to Defrag first? How would you recommend I go about this?

Breakthrough! Graphics card tested faulty, so they're going to replace it. Unfortunately the card's back on pre-order :|

Just tested out my new Phenom II in some gaming and the performance increase is massive. Definitely a worthwhile purchase.

Yep and to no avail :(

That's good to hear. I'll be upgrading from a Pentium D 805 to a Phenom II X2 550 soon.

Is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103471 the one you got? I'm saving up for it and hope to get it within two weeks (next pay day) along with a new heatsink/fan.

Question: Would http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186134 heatsink/fan fit onto [/src="http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128335"]my[/url] motherboard? It says it fits the socket and looks like it, but I'd like a second opinion :D

I don't see why not, and why not get the 955 instead of the 940?

The 955s are AM3 sockets and mine is an AM2/AM2+.

It's a very good cooler. I have one on an Intel motherboard, where it is not that hard to install. Customers and reviewers say it is a PITA to install on AMD motherboards. They are not kidding.

(AM2, AM2+, and AM3 cooler mounts are all the same.)

Is there a way I can test the performance of my GPU and compare it to what it should be?

I have a ATI 5850, and the more I play, the more I have the feeling that my 4870 was faster.

It's very frustrating. :(

EDIT : There are people with ATI 5770 that beat my 5850 in Inugine Heaven with same options, same resolution and same CPU..

Alright, I've had my new processor for about a month and a half or so now and I'm a little confused. My current system specs should be decent for right now, or so I thought. I'm using...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103645
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102854

...and 1 gig of ram, though it's a few years old and a weak link in my system. I'm about to upgrade to http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134117&Tpk=KVR800D2N5K2%2f2G My problem though is that my performance in games just doesn't seem as good as I was expecting. I can run Oblivion at highest settings no problem, a bit of hiccuping sometimes but I think that's an issue with my RAM. My real problem is Left 4 Dead 2. Load times are excruciating in this game, 6-8 minutes to load, and then it takes another minute or so once I join for it to be playable. During the load times the circle that rotates in the top right corner stops, and periodically continues as if it's jumping between loading and doing nothing. Are my expectations just too high for my system? I'm using windows XP, and I've heard it has issues with dual/multi core processors...

EDIT: And before you ask, I did update my BIOS and I also tried using AMD's dual core optimizer for XP.

Awesome. Glad to hear such great things.

So, the mounts for the heatsink are all the same, but, regarding Pjstaab's question about me not getting the AM3 processor; An AM3 processor will not fit into an AM2/AM2+ motherboard, correct?

No, AM3 processors are backwards compatible with AM2/AM2+ motherboards, as long as the motherboard's BIOS supports it. AM3 motherboards, though, are not compatible with AM2/AM2+ processors.

Spanky's motherboard supports up to the Phenom II 940 and no higher. The 955 (and any Phenom 9x5) is unsupported.

I got another question already.

Why is it that I can play Mass Effect in windowed mode with 1808x1016 resolution and get 20+ fps, but trying to run the same resolution fullscreen gives me below 10?

And I'll use this opportunity to bump up my previous question from the other page:

Two questions:first,Newegg says that LCD isn't available, where else could I get it,or is there an equal alternative?

Also,is there any reason I couldn't use Vista instead of W7? I've been using it so long that I'm over it's flaws and would prefer it instead of W7.

Sorry if I sound like an idiot,I just want to make sure. ;)

No reason not to use Vista if you prefer it. For my money, it's more secure than Windows 7, which made some stupid mistakes in an attempt to be more user-friendly.

This seems to be that monitor's camera-less sibling: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236047.

It's probably jus confusing how you worded it, but I believe your motherboard is an AM2 board first, meaning it can take AM2+ chips, but nothing more. So yes, you are correct.

It's the AM2+ motherboards that probably have a BIOS update for the AM3 support. There are also AM2+/AM3 motherboards out there

I recently got a Saitek Cyborg X. I can get all the other keys to work (but I can't use my SSE Profiler or whatever it is called because for some reason the stick won't use my profiles. For example, I can set the trigger to space bar, save the profile, and then click to use it, then open notepad, but when I use the trigger nothing is spaced. Same for any other button.) but I don't know how to see the throttle handle in the game (Freespace 2). Pushing it forward or backward will not register a command when I'm trying to set keys, so I'm at a loss.

But as I mentioned, I can not use my Profiler for whatever reason and its definitely slowing me down. Halp?

Once again, any help with this, guys? I've read the manual all the way and could find no answer, and their website doesn't have a troubleshooting section except on the forum, and couldn't find anything.
