The day of release?

Post » Wed May 11, 2011 3:41 pm

1. Go to school.
2. Get back from school.
3. Wait for one of my parents to get home from work.
4. Ask them to take me to Best Buy to pick it up.
5. Pick it up.
7. Get home.
8. PLAY!

Well I'll be working, so unless there's an early download from Steam, I'll have to download it Tuesday after work. Depending on how busy the servers are, might take a while. At some point I'm sure to have an arguement with the wife about something stupid, which will sort of ruin my excitment a little... but will allow me to hide in the computer room undisturbed for a couple hours.

I have a 360 version ordered online from Gamestop, but I have no faith of receiving any New Vegas package on the actual release day. And even if delivery is attempted, nobody will be home. And they will most likely hold on to the package and attempt delivery another day instead of dropping if off at the local post office like they should. Seems they don't always think that people work and after first attempt, why can't they just tell me where to pick it up? Hopefully that's what they do. But regardless, I'll still have my steam version to play! :)

Retrieve it either on or immediately after the release day. Then place it aside until I'm in the mood to play.

Besides, it's just a game. The excitement in this thread is a bit too exaggerated. What's with the hyperactivity?

There's always "hyperactivity" around videogame releases. Always. You shouldn't hold it against anybody, it's not like it can be helped lol.

Honestly I envy it. I wish I could get that excited about anything. I'll still have a bit of fun with this, but not like some other people here will be able to.

If it get's people excited then that's good for them.

But I mean, singing, rabid behaviour and permissively incarcerating oneself with the game for days? That's exaggeration. I'd get a headache playing anything in half a day or less. I mean, it's cool that the game is almost out and I'm looking forward to it but... jeez.

It's a kind of excitement I feign to envy, nor can work up to (as you've stated). Calmness and patience.

Consider going to the midnight release, probably decide against it. Listen to Polka-dot Cadaver until bed. Wake up at ten in the morning to get my copy, play until 2:00 pm. Go to my appointment, then get home. Profit!

You're on the New Vegas forum, what do you expect? Being registered on a game's official forum makes a person much, much more excited than if they weren't, at least in my experience. On the game's official forum you are given all the new news there is, making you much more hyped up.

Well, I'll have to go to my two classes for the day, which end at 1:45pm. Then I'll probably run home to start the download, and then go back to campus for an accounting club meeting. When I get home at around 8pm, it probably won't even be close to being done because of my hilariously slow download speed. I'll go to bed grumbling about it, then start up the download again after classes and work the next day, hoping that it will be finished in a few more hours so I can play, but then realizing that I can't because I have an exam the next day over a 600-page book and should really look over my notes for it. Maybe I'll even have some dishes to do. So on Thursday, I'll be home from classes and hey! It's fall break, I get Friday off!

And my family will probably want to go to a state park town and to some caves for the weekend.

One week after New Vegas' release, I can finally play the game.

Then my computer blows up.

The end.

Edit: Oh wait, unless Steam lets everyone preload it. Then it's all good and I'll be playing it after classes are done.

I dont have a first period, so I dont have to go to school till 10:13am on wednesdays (my latest day of the week :)) so its perfect. :D

I think i might skip everything i have going on that day (unless something important is going on, or it just doesn't work out) and play it all day. Otherwise i'll play it a few hours when i get home, then play as much as i can wednesday, and then i have thursday and friday off for some reason, so i'll probably play a lot over my four day weekend.

I don't think I have anything to do on the 19th, so... wait for UPS to deliver the goods (usually around 3-5 PM), play all day and night, and then sleep. I can't wait.

Well I'll be playing it that night until I get power armour. And I will get it. If that means pulling an all nighter and passing out the next day, then so be it.

On the 22nd because I'm a sad European and getting it later. Only ten more days to go for us!

1. wake up with the biggest smile on my face evah!
2. Sulk that I have to go to internship first.
3. Still go to internship because it'll be the last day and we have a week vacation after that anyway.
4. Wait for my dad to call to tell me the gamestore has called to tell that it has arrived.
5. Race out the door the moment my job ends to catch the bus into the city praying I can get there before closing times.
5.1. If closed bang on doors untill they let me in to get my copy.
5.2. If not let in camp there for the entire weekend with an angry face untill they give me my game.
6. Rush home, constantly glaring at the busdriver in a creepy way to get him to drive faster out of fear while hugging the death out of my CE.
7. When home rush upstairs and pray that my DVD/CD driver accepts the damn thing.
7.1 If not working, downloading via Steam and throwing my younger brother off his computer to install there to see who is faster. ( He won't mind, he want's to play as badly as I do)
8. Watch the making off DVD while it installs.
9. Boot up the game and checking if I'm prepared as I am. (vast amounts of caffa?ne drinks, food and nearby toilet...bed is overated)
10. Say farewell to friends and family because they won't be seeing me for a looooooooooong loooooooooooong time as the intro rolls in.

Most is highly exagurated, except for points 4, 5, 7, 7.1 and 8.

Work Work Work. At some point in the evening afterward ideally I'll find my copy floating around in my mail chute. I'll crack it open, install it, start the tutorial and then fall asleep at the computer just as Doc Mitchell is giving me the Rorschach test.

You won't find out till a week later from me. Anyone who takes time to step away from their game to post here should feel shame.
