If it was dumbed down, this video would of turned out differently. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyTplI2-Rgo

There are varying degrees of dumbness. Cutting out options we had in previous games is dumbing down.

Here's an idea. How about we all agree that it IS dumbed down (whether it is or not), then go off and just either 1) play the game or 2) don't play it.

This way one crowd is happy that everyone agrees with them, and the other crowd doesn't give a crap either way.

I'd say for the most, the things they tooked out, they added things in to keep it equal. However, some of the things are questionable, but nitpicking is a fruitless endeavor. Do you at least understand why I choose to use this video?

If you compared it to morrowind or daggerfall- it isn't dumb, it's moronic

People on the forums, are saying Elder Scrolls are going the CoD route, but I don't see it.

Seventeen minutes in and this guy isn't even looking at the manual?

I think it took him about the same time, to learn how to equip items.

People like to say Skyrim is one step forward, two steps back.

It's more like one step removed, two steps forward.

Also, instead of exploring as soon as he got out of Helgen, he went to Riverwood and Whiterun.

Well that's a dramatic exaggeration - things are going downhill in many ways, see below. More options is better.

I think I'm the one who says that, and you're wrong. See below.

THIS. So many cool options from those games have been removed, and that makes me unhappy. Though the more annoying things like the screwed-up leveling system of prior games and the elimination of the need to repair your items are welcome improvements. So tedious.

Streamlined: We find useless junk on shelves instead of in chests. Bethesda listened.

Dumbed down: The red dots on the compass when an enemy is aware of you, or searching for you.

Yes, I loved how sacred Morrowind treated me intelligently by not trusting me with any complex quest stages and all of the "go here, get X and come back" missions. It was quite a stroke to my ego to know that I was able to complete every quest stage easily because everything was broken down into tiny bits.

People have to stop expounding on how 'smartened up' Morrowind was, just because they liked it and it had lots of details. Ten billion baby-bites don't make anything 'smart'.

Because they don't use their brains for judgement. They use emotions.

Streamlined is making things faster while still doing the same thing.

Dumbed down is removing things, to get to others faster and have nothing at the end

they both essentially mean removing something.

So if you have crap journal descriptions and half assed directions to places and an Omnicent Compass. that removes any point to stopping and thinking.

Its dumbing down.

NoBullet - You don't have to watch two hours, to get my point. People say the game holds your hand, when it took the guy over ten minutes to figure out how to equip items.

For console players, I don't think that that's an option. Also, can you find your quest goals using only the instructions given to you by the npc, or do you need to use the map to figure it out? That's the difference between Morrowind and Skyrim (and Oblivion to a lesser extent). Morrowind told you what to do and where to go. Skyrim tells you what to do, where to go, and then provides step be step instructions on how to do it.

Lets be honest, all he is doing in the video is following the marker. he is skipping everything and has no clue what hes doing. God help him if he ever plays Morrowind, he'd never get out of Seyda Neen.

Is that the point you wanted the video to prove? because that is the impression i've got after watching 18 minutes. couldn't watch any more after he started jumping while saying 360 no scope.
